Miku the rhythm guitarist is a pigeon, because her last name Kobato (小鳩), means small pigeon in Japanese. The numbers 8-10 can be pronounced as (ha-to). That is why she is 810. Similar terms: Miku day is March 9th because 3-9 are pronounced (mi-ku) Day of Maid is May 10th because 5-10 are pronounced (may-doe)
Im confused. I thought the numbers from 1-10 in Japanese were ichi, ni, san, yon/shi. go, roku, nana, hachi, kyuu/kuu and juu. Where do ha, for 8, to and doe for 10, mi for 3 and may for 5 come from?
@@ThePsychosocialite what makes Japanese so difficult to learn is that there are many ways to say things such as numbers. another way to count is: 1-hitotsu 2-futatsu 3-mitsu 4-yotsu 5-itsutsu 6-mutsu 7-nanatsu 8-yatsu 9-kokonoka 10-to (or do), pronounced toe or doe so 10 is "doe", but sometimes you can also shorten them, so instead of 3-mitsu you can use "mi". This also goes for 8-hachi. It is shortened to "ha". Lastly, 5 comes from the fact that in Japanese months are counted, so May in Japanese is literally 5th month, so they actually decided to use English.
No need to pick favourites, there’s a reason why contrary to the majority of Japanese bands, there hasn’t been any personnel change since the addition of Saiki, and that was literally weeks into the band’s existence. Not only do they complement each other wonderfully, they give a good amount of space to all individual players. They have grown very close after knowing each other mostly through the foundation of the band, although Kanami, Akane and Misa, who are really the engine room, had bonded during previous shared experiences. Band-Maid are really an organism of five individuals creating together, every single one doing their specific job. Not a single one can just be replaced, and they all need each other. So, no favourites. The team is the star.
Saiki's gear makes her look like the Queen of Maids. She has a commanding presence on stage and her vocals make it clear that she is in charge as Band-Maid's great frontwoman.
Miku (red rose) was giving Kanami the side-eye as she sat there watching her sing. This MV was from the 2nd show of back-to-back nights at Line Cube Shibuya, night 1 Miku had flubbed some lyrics, so the story goes that Kanami was watching her to see if she'd do it again. As you can see, they like to have a bit of fun, when they gathered around Akane, they were doing "Hengao", it's a game of making faces. If you watch their live MV for the song "Play" from this same okyu-ji (concert), you'll see Saiki try hengao with Akane and she fails as you can hear her laugh while singing. The live MV you watched of Hate? was from their 10th Anniversary Finale at Yokohama Arena, it was their largest crowd that wasn't a festival at about 12,000 attendees. The reason some people call Saiki the Vampire Princess is because of her teeth. Her canines are pushed forward, giving a look of fangs. It is referred as “Yaeba” in Japanese, which means ‘double tooth’. In Japan, this kind of imperfect smile is deemed most attractive.
"In Japan, this kind of imperfect smile is deemed most attractive." And it's great! For the evolution of the clothes, at the beginning, all five of them were dressed as Japanese Maids Café with ultra short skirts and high heels. It was Misa (Misa, Misa, Misa) who first changed her outfit into "Chinese Assassin" before becoming "The Barefoot Assassin". Then, it was Akane who changed her outfit, because originally the one she had bothered her to play the Kit-Bass... and then Saiki who transformed his clothing with inspiration from a Spanish waitress... We can also see that over the years, Kanami's dress has grown longer...
@@bunyip-ni6ch yes what a blast... Mincho was on fire... i was just afraid she might accidentally get stuck with the guitar at the stupid pillar of the stage in the middle... thank god nothing like that happened 🤘
Ask any questions and Maidiacs will provide answers. Try to stump them, it would be challenging! Kanami influences include Carlos Santana and Larry Carlton, specifically his song “Room 335” Kanami-san, AKA Mincho, Kanamincho, and the Riff Goddess, is also the first Japanese artist to get her own signature PRS 🎸 and is the first member of Band Maid to have a domestic Siamese cat named after her 😏 🐈⬛
That spot where the rhythm guitarist, Miku, sings lead for a bit, where Kanami is crouching next to her, Kanami is blocking the lyrics monitor, because Miku messed up the lyrics for that part once, so now Kanami trolls her every time they perform it. There are other recordings where Kanami is peeking up her skirt and stuff, and Miku has to deflect while trying not to mess it up again.
@@ShadeReactsLive Found a fan cam: ua-cam.com/video/kRB2psI50nU/v-deo.html Later on in the video, Miku starts messing with Kanami's skirt during her solo.
I have seen them perform live twice. The cell phone audio doesn't do them justice. The energy and joy in their performance is out of this world...and Saiki's charisma and stage presence are off the charts.
Kanami's guitar hero is Carlos Santana and is also a big fan of Eddie Van Halen. The guitarist though that inspired her to take guitar seriously was the Jazz guitarist Larry Carlton. I'm sure she is inspired by many guitarists though. Her favourite composer - Chopin, Kanami played piano and only listened to classical music until somewhere around her mid teens and then she was invited to join a school covers band as a keyboard player. She then noticed that the girls liked the guitar players the most so she then took up guitar to become popular with the other girls.
It is ironic that you call Saiki a vampire queen. She has "yaeba" teeth where the canine teeth protrude and the teeth flanking the two middle teeth (uppers) are set back. Your new nickname just might catch on.
Also I have to mention during live shows Nemo, Babymetal, Band Maid & HANABIE are always smiling & laughing & interacting with each other & the crowd. It's so refreshing to see. When you watch Bandmaid live the girls are always making faces at AKANE trying to crack her up. MOA is constantly pranking SU & she & MOMO try to make SU laugh constantly, especially during Megitsune. During concerts with Nemophila the girls are all singing along with the songs even when not doing backing vocals they're just having the time of their lives up there.
Bro, good reaction. There are many subtle moments of the band interacting during live performances. The running joke is the members try to make Akane the drummer laugh. Band Maid is: MIKU (mee-koo) Rhythm guitar and backing vocals. She is the band’s founder, writes the lyrics and is the band’s main spokesperson. She is called “the little Pigeon”. SAIKI (sigh-kee) Lead vocals and front man. “The Ice Queen”. (She’s also the team mom). KANAMI (kah-nah-mee) Lead guitar. A classically trained musician, she composes and arranges all the music. “Mincho” MISA (mee-sah) Bass. The band’s secret weapon. Most bassists don’t stand out. She does. “The Barefoot Assassin”. AKANE (ah-kah-neh) The smiling drummer is “The Gorilla” and she is the other half of one of the best rhythm sections anywhere).
The Gorilla looks like she is always laughing so they must be doing a good job! hahah. Not many rock bands look like they are having this much fun while performing
You always know when Akane Hirose is in the zone… she looks just like a kid in a candy store! She is one of the happiest drummers of all time! (She definitely has a bit of Keith Moon hiding in there! [debunked below in replies: Jimmy Page supposedly said…]) She can keep the beat through time signatures that don’t exist in normal space-time and complex patterns that defy duplication by mere mortals. (Speaking of… “Black Hole” official live - actually was live online during the covid lockdown on Day of Maid). [End hagiography.]
@@happyfreightdawg The Jimmy Page thing is an old myth that comes around every now and then. The real story is, he saw them play at awards show in Japan back in 2016. He went back stage and asked if he could get a photo with the drummer, and he told her he enjoyed the performance. Here is what Akane said in an interview. "It was unreal to me. He watched our stage and asked afterwards' "You play very good drums, can I take a picture with you?" I was like, "Is this really happening?"
Man, do I have a natural live video of a Band-Maid song. The song is titled "Honkai" SPIN-OFF. It has an EPIC "impromptu" intro to the song by the " Thunder Buddies", Akane, the drummer, and MISA, the bassist. MISA's basstone in this one is otherworldly.
A few things to clarify - The shredding genius, Kanami (lead guitarist), taught BAND-MAID's founder, Miku (pigtails), how to play guitar when they formed back in 2013 so keep that in mind when you react to their 2020 live version of Domination. Also at 6:19, they're huddled around Akane and are performing "Hengao" ("funny face" in Japanese) and are attempting to get Akane to mess up but she's just too good.
Another big influence is Larry Carlton of Steely Dan fame, along with his extensive solo work. Kanami said it was hearing his Room 335 that made her want to get serious as a guitarist.

The Maids performing one of their (two) most performed songs: Freedom and Real Existence. The Maids in this MV are pure perfection, aren't they? I mean, what can you fault? And those faces... their attitude... their music... their playing... their story... and their joy! Band-Maid is a world treasure, imo! Thanks, Shade, for bringing the world's best hard rock band to your viewers!
My absolutely favorite Band since more than six years... I have never heard a song from them that was just only average or bad... every song has its own charm and allurement, i can listen to their whole catalog of songs without ever getting bored for a single minute ... unfortunately i have seen them live only one time so far; at the Logo in Hamburg, Germany.. just insane... i hope they will come back here one day 🤘
Talking about a big concert. Their Yokohama Arena 3 &1/2 hour concert was amazing and every member was at peak performance and completely killed it. The live stream was also amazing and so is the bluray of it.
The Bassists & Drummers for Band Maid {MISA & Akane} Nemophila (Haraguchi-San & TAMU) & HANABIE (Hettsu & Chicka) are all phenomenal & they tend to feature more than U.S. bands, especially live.
Kanami has said in numerous interviews that her main influence on guitar is Carlos Santana and her other greatest influence is jazz guitarist Larry Carlton.
1:56 Po? And speaking of Misa, interesting how diff reactors have diff sound recordings of the same song. While I can usually hear Misa pretty clearly in their songs, her bass is really standing out in this particular reaction vid 🎵 Moreso than the original ⚖ which ain't a bad thing 😁 5:59 That Miku "Did I get it right this time ?!" look 😄 12:31 Yeah, the HATE (minus the ?) theme - read a comment that this is a musical reproduction of an argument between the man & woman in the story/lyrics - which makes sense, and is a fun new way for me to hear it 🤼 = 🎵↔🎶 17:11 Cool that whoever did that vid did an insert of the band enjoying Akane's solo 📺
How Miku came up with "PIGEON" while riding a train - (The pigeon of Keihan express, the symbol of the Keihan Express is the pigeon head mark. The design which has been loved from 1952 is said to be from pigeons at the Ishishimizu-hachimangu temple which is on the lines area. The pigeon which is an agent of god is looking over the safety of the passengers.)

The drum solo is an extra bit added on to the normal song. They have a SOP of doing extra bits on 3/4 songs per touring season. Next season another 3/4 songs get the extra treatment, and the old extra bits are retired. Another example of their creativity.
Very well done, I have always said, its ok to like more than one band at a time, or to only like one band, its your choice, but dont try pushing your opinion off on others. Rock on 🤘🤘

Glad to see you digging deeper into the pigeon hole.. Maids have lots of variety in their songs, you never know what you're going to get. Often surprising and always just brilliant
The founder of the band and rhythm guitarist is Miku Kobato. The explanation for the Small Pigeon is that's what her name kanji means. The real context is that Miku is slightly crazy. Fun crazy, and crazy like a fox, but crazy.
Agree with your assessment on all the bands you mentioned. Band-Maid takes the maid concept seriously. When they're serving their masters and princesses live, they give 110%, with MV's 100%, with studio cuts 90%. The best audio are their official Lives or official MV's (performances other than the officials, with a few exceptions, are low audio/video quality. Domination Live is at the same concert as Freedom. Thrill, I would recommend the MV only because it's their very first and it's iconic because they haven't realized their identity just yet.
First day in 2025 and the best way to end my day! Simply and absolutely Perfect! No more words. Great react Kitsune. You need watch now Domination live. See you! 🤟🦊🔥🔥🔥🔥🇯🇵
If you want to see them in a bigger venue check out Endless story official live video at Yokohama. It was the last song of a 33 setlist, 3 and a half hour show. Hate was recorded at the same concert. I do not remember the sobg number for Hate, but it was twenty something.
Happy New Year! Pull up Vladimir Chupin’s fancam videos of the songs you react to if possible. They are of very good quality. Enjoying your format and content. Just subscribed. Looking forward to more BM reactions going forward.
Band-Maid Members; "The Queen Of Maids" Saiki ( Lead vocalist ), "The Pigeon/Small Pigeon" Miku ( Rhythm Guitar, Backing/Secondary Lead Vocalist), "Mincho" Kanami (Lead Guitarist), "The Barefoot Assassin" MISA (Bassist), and "The Gorilla" Akana (Drums)
The official live video for "Domination" is so superb that a lot of people dismiss the OMV of the studio version, but that OMV is a thing of visual beauty, and Kanami's guitar tone in it really deserves to be heard for its own sake. It's misleading when people say Band-Maid is better live than in the studio. The statement isn't wrong, but posing it that way makes it sound like they're not absolutely incredible in the studio, which they are.
Yes. While Band-Maid's songs are usually spectacularly great live, there are others that are just as good or perhaps even better in their studio versions due to better mixing and mike setups. For me, one of my favorite songs "Manners" sounds much better in the music video studio version, plus the visual presentations in it are hauntingly beautiful.
@@uffdad8211 Yes, and there are often a lot of layers and embellishments in the studio versions that aren’t as large a part of the live versions even when there’s a backing track - third and fourth guitar parts, overdubbed harmonies by Saiki, etc.
Great reaction! I would highly suggest fancam from Hamburg 2019 by Vladimir Chupin. The sound is fantastic, and very close to the band. Probably the best fancam for observing Akane the drummer. My personal favorite is the video with Spirit and Carry on Living + ending. You get to see Akane doing some awesome double bass drum action.
Akane always wins the Happiest Drummer of The Year Award. Akane's 3 minute drum solo warm-up before BLACK HOLE (which you'd enjoy too, as at 220bpm, it's their fastest tempo song), at Yokohama Arena, Nov 2023 - ua-cam.com/video/d3Rkto9P4M4/v-deo.htmlsi=1jrEPH9TatzNX51O
You saw them in an arena for Hate. They had around 8,000 people in attendance at that Yokohama Arena show. It was their 10th anniversary international tour finale. 3 1/2 hour show, 33 songs.
@@rRobR I'd be interested to know your source. They had more capacity than they actually filled. Here's a Japanese source that states it was about 8,000 (spaces instead of dots, because YT won't let me link outside): www chunichi co jp/article/812923
According to Google official attendance was 8, 000 , but the arena can hold up to 15,000 but it was not configured for the full amount , cause before the show I'm sure they knew how many tickets were sold , as for Tokyo Gardens that venue holds 8,000 .
I am a 70s rocker and this band is currently my go to on you tube. If you are looking at comparisons try Sayonakidori live and then acoustic version in that order. The lead singer is Miku on this one, the live version is not my favourite but the Acoustic is on another level. A great comparison i beleive it's like watching another song.
Well, you asked for a drum solo ... and you found the only extended drum solo in the bands catalog ;) . The song is linear and simple ... but adored by fans because we all love our gorilla. The goofball, funny face maker, and most organized one of the group ;) . She has come a long way from this ... I'm sure I won't be the last one to mention the song BLACK HOLE here in these comments. The happiest drummer on the planet!
For a two version (or even 3 version) comparison try their old April Fools video BAND-MAIKO secret MAIKO lips vs an official or live version of secret My lips. (maiko are young women training to be geisha)
Just came from your first BM reaction. Gonna watch your Hanabie reaction after this! Misa is the bass player, aka the barefoot assassin! Miku is the pigeon and founder of the band. Her name translates to small pigeon. The best part about the drum solo, Akane's smile! Add 'Blooming' OMV and 'Unleash!!!!!!' OMV and/,or live to the list! Can't wait to see your rhoughts on the next two groups. What's awesome is that none of these groups sound alike !🤘
"Insane." Kanami has a nickname that she created for herself, using the diminutive -incho on the end of her name, for a web presence prior to being in the band. These days "Kanamincho" or just "Mincho" for short, is what we use to refer to her when she adopts her stage persona. Kanami is intensely reserved. Mincho ranges from fun and dynamic to sometimes actually looking like she has lost her mind entirely. Those are some of my favorite Band-Maid moments. As for Akane on the drums, yes, this later version of the solo from the fan cam (was that a Vlad Chupin vid?), while a little messy, is actually way more technical and incorporates some techniques that she had learned in the interim. This is a thing that's amazing about Band-Maid, every single one of them improves musically over time. For vocalists, that's almost not really possible, but for Saiki she's improving by learning to play the piano so that they have that new instrument to call on in performances. She's still not any sort of master technician at it yet, but she's so practiced at her parts that she doesn't make mistakes at this point during performances. Famously, Miku could not play guitar when the band started. Kanami taught her along the way, training a rhythm guitarist to be EXACTLY what she needed for her compositions. They started out great on their first album. Every album since they have figured out ways to add new elements and get better. So that this last album that came out in September, Epic Narratives, most of us are still trying to wrap our heads around how good it is months later. Yes, that's "insane."
Oh, yeah, "They must literally blow the roof off of every venue they go to." I'm going to assume you mean that they blow the roof off of literally every venue they go to, and... 100%. I've never heard of a lackluster Band-Maid performance. Certainly not when I saw them at the House of Blues in Chicago at the end of their 2022 tour... that show was ridiculously fun. Every report I've ever heard is that it's always like that. And I have no reason to believe otherwise; given the same evidence you are coming across, and so much more, we come to the same conclusion.
Here’s my perennial favorite Band Maid song, and it’s also the most favorite song of my most favorite fellow Maidiac from across the pond: “Don’t you tell ME,” official music video “Don’t you tell ME,” official live video from Yokohama Arena Keep your eyes on the details in the music video because it is full of inside jokes and quirks, i.e. Akane eats a lot, MISA drinks a lot, Kanami has a girl crush on Saiki, etc. ❤
Miku has an MC during the live shows that she calls omajini time or magic spell time that comes from the time she worked at the maid cafe where her and sometimes the other band members interact with the crowd and also each other, it is some of the best comedy , they are like the Marx Brothers, if the Marx Brothers were female and Japanese and played in a band. you should check out some fancam videos
Kanami is a big fan of Santana. Every once in while she plays a lick that sounds a bit like Santana. The Anaheim HoB 2023 show was a great show, at times the crowd was singing as loud as the band back by the mix position. All their big shows have been in Japan. Hopefully there is another US in 2025, and poor Europe has been waiting many years for another tour.
Say, might you be interested in a 3 video reaction to Endless Story? The Official Live video is special so I would save that for last. So I would suggest staring with the the Official MV first so you know the song, then Ohrenje has put together a nice compilation video from their 2022 US tour so you can hear the US crowds attempt to sing, then finish with the Official Live video.
I just want to be able to post the content. I have no ambitions to monetize any of it, so as long as I can post and interact with people on here I'll be happy! So far so good with Band-maid!
@@ShadeReactsLive You're good to go then! Great reaction as always! Once you watch a couple more music videos you should absolutely react to Ohrenje's documentary on all the members. Watch them in the order of Saiki, Kanami, Akane, MIsa, and Miku (Parts 1/2/3). You'll eventually figure out how amazing/important Miku is to the success of the band hence her documentary being MUCH longer. A lot of reactors blow over her and don't give her any recognition. Trying to make sure that doesn't happen with you! LOL.
House of blues Chicago 2022 was the last show of the USA tour. Its was incredible. Actually all 7 shows I have been to rocked! Each show is also a little different. They change up the playlist. My all time favorite band since Van Halen etc!! Welcome to Band-Maid. There is a deep pigeon hole to go down . 🤘
@ They did two years in a row, 2022, 2023. They have not announced any USA shows this year. But I am hoping with this past album that they come in the fall. Hoping!!!
@ by the way, they love UA-cam reactors. They have even pointed them out in crowds at their concerts. They watch the channels! They truly appreciate their fans !!

Saki's dress is a take on The Lady’s maid's dress. She was in charge of all the maids in the household and could also be responsible for the upbringing and education of the children. MISA's dress was first excused as a maid's dress from different countries, (Croatia and China) to excuse the fact that she did not feel comfortable dressed as a classic maid, but when she started with trousers, I believe she used the "assassin maid" as inspiration.
Shade , Akane is the Happiest Drummer on the Planet and Jimmy Paige thinks she's a pretty good drummer also , MISA !!! MISA !!! MISA !!! the Barefoot Bass Assassin , And Thanks for Continuing down the BAND-MAID Pigeon hole .
Thank you for your reaction. I don't know who would hold any animosity against Baby Metal. Baby Metal has not been my go to music but if I had the chance to see them live I would love to do that. And the latest album changed things quite a bit, in particular the song Maya stands out to me. I suppose some are being frustrated that reactors jump to conclusion that Band Maid also would be Kawaii metal but expectations being proven wrong is a major point with reactions so there is no reason to be negative about it. I had the chance to see Lovebites live though again different music but well written and well performed, you should check something like "ShadowMaker" or "Soldier Stands Solitarily". If nothing else the wolfpack will guide you on a Lovebites journey. My musical journey being with Band Maid doesn't mean I don't listen to or love other music as well. Have fun! :)
I’m right with you man. I have been blown away by the talent of these ladies and couldn’t be more excited to listen to more. The challenging part about making videos about watching it, is I can’t just go listen. I have to be disciplined lol
You may be picking up on vampire vibes from Saiki’s Yaeba teeth. Yaeba teeth are fang-like overlapping teeth considered a mark of youthful beauty in Japan: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yaeba
One of the reasons I can't get into the other J-Rock bands is because of the vocals. Most Japanese singers have a high-pitched voice, but this band has Saiaki, the vampire queen? well said, son, who has a powerful low voice. And Akane! She changes patterns so often and she knows when to play, what to play and how to play, with all that smile on her face. Just fantastic!

The best live VIDEOS are the live releases, because they've been remixed. Mostly you'll find fan cams like this, and phone audio is the shits. For that matter, lots of BAND-MAIDS lockdown era live streams have iffy audio (Kanami's lead guitar is all too often too far down in the mix). That's why they remix the audio. Don't get me wrong, I've watched tons of phone cam live shows in my time, but I always end up back with the offical lives because they represent Kanami trying to give us the best BAND-MAID experience possible.
Agree. Generally, I avoid the fancams, but Vladimir Chupin has some excellent equipment and does a great job filming/recording from the audience's point of view.
I know you do the multiple version thing, it’s fun. There aren’t a ton of good live videos that aren’t the official live ones, they don’t mess that much with the audio, and it’s all the actual live audio (we’ve compared to the streamed versions of the shows). There are also multiple versions of songs like acoustics, or the Band MAIKO April fools stuff that are fun. Good dual songs to listen to: Domination (MV) - Domination (official live) Don’t you tell ME (MV) - Don’t you Tell ME (official live) Puzzle (official live) - Puzzle (live acoustic) No God (official live) - No God (acoustic) Secret My Lips (MV) - Secret MAIKO Lips (MV)
Could you imagine having Band-Maid shredding their guitars while Babymetal has a perfectly choreographed dance, with Su and Saiki harmonizing with the low and high mix they have?! that would be insane! Collab of the year for sure if it were to happen
Ahh. You looked down after your comment about MISA hanging out with Akane (dr) it's when Akane sticks her tongue out at both Saiki (blue rose) and MISA and in tempo.
Their live performances are always best, but there is one Band- Maid song (actually, there are a few) official music that is KICK-ASS. The official music is "Warning". If you decide to react to it, you'll see what I mean.

Miku the rhythm guitarist is a pigeon, because her last name Kobato (小鳩), means small pigeon in Japanese. The numbers 8-10 can be pronounced as (ha-to). That is why she is 810. Similar terms:
Miku day is March 9th because 3-9 are pronounced (mi-ku)
Day of Maid is May 10th because 5-10 are pronounced (may-doe)
Im confused. I thought the numbers from 1-10 in Japanese were ichi, ni, san, yon/shi. go, roku, nana, hachi, kyuu/kuu and juu. Where do ha, for 8, to and doe for 10, mi for 3 and may for 5 come from?
@@ThePsychosocialite what makes Japanese so difficult to learn is that there are many ways to say things such as numbers. another way to count is:
1-hitotsu
2-futatsu
3-mitsu
4-yotsu
5-itsutsu
6-mutsu
7-nanatsu
8-yatsu
9-kokonoka
10-to (or do), pronounced toe or doe
so 10 is "doe", but sometimes you can also shorten them, so instead of 3-mitsu you can use "mi".
This also goes for 8-hachi. It is shortened to "ha".
Lastly, 5 comes from the fact that in Japanese months are counted, so May in Japanese is literally 5th month, so they actually decided to use English.
@@ichichu and then there are the pronouns. Japanese looking at English speakers stressing over gender pronouns are face-palming.
@@thomasalbrecht5914 "people say we're so close it's creepy" saiki in a recent interview
It sure looks good on Saiki!
I think he was calling her "vampire queen" because of her clothes looking more like a vampire outfit than maid outfit.
Vladimir Chupin has a fan cam video of “Clang” played by the maids at a club in in Hamburg that is worth watching.
And of course his video in Hamburg where Kanami goes crazy during her solo intro to Moratorium.
Vladimir Chupin is in the Maidiac Hall of Fame!

Kanami influences include Carlos Santana and Larry Carlton, specifically his song “Room 335”
Kanami-san, AKA Mincho, Kanamincho, and the Riff Goddess, is also the first Japanese artist to get her own signature PRS 🎸 and is the first member of Band Maid to have a domestic Siamese cat named after her 😏 🐈⬛
She deserves that signature PRS, no doubt!
I really love the stage play and jokes. It humanizes them a lot which I love.
@ShadeReactsLive A lot of times they gather around Akane, like MISA and Saiki did, and make faces at her to try and throw her off beat and mess up.

It’s a Japanese thing called Hen Gao.
Thats just a happy accident haha
Also I have to mention during live shows Nemo, Babymetal, Band Maid & HANABIE are always smiling & laughing & interacting with each other & the crowd. It's so refreshing to see. When you watch Bandmaid live the girls are always making faces at AKANE trying to crack her up. MOA is constantly pranking SU & she & MOMO try to make SU laugh constantly, especially during Megitsune. During concerts with Nemophila the girls are all singing along with the songs even when not doing backing vocals they're just having the time of their lives up there.
This is always so fun to view as a participant in the crowd if you catch these things!
Bro, good reaction. There are many subtle moments of the band interacting during live performances. The running joke is the members try to make Akane the drummer laugh.
Band Maid is:
MIKU (mee-koo)
Rhythm guitar and backing vocals. She is the band’s founder, writes the lyrics and is the band’s main spokesperson. She is called “the little Pigeon”.
SAIKI (sigh-kee)
Lead vocals and front man. “The Ice Queen”.
(She’s also the team mom).
KANAMI (kah-nah-mee)
Lead guitar. A classically trained musician, she composes and arranges all the music. “Mincho”
MISA (mee-sah)
Bass. The band’s secret weapon. Most bassists don’t stand out. She does. “The Barefoot Assassin”.
AKANE (ah-kah-neh)
The smiling drummer is “The Gorilla” and she is the other half of one of the best rhythm sections anywhere).

That entire video is awesome.
Seen them live several times...was in front of MISA in Houston 2022 and she is absolutely gorgeous in person. Saiki too, but MISA....HOLY MOLY ❤
You will love Band-Maiko
A few things to clarify - The shredding genius, Kanami (lead guitarist), taught BAND-MAID's founder, Miku (pigtails), how to play guitar when they formed back in 2013 so keep that in mind when you react to their 2020 live version of Domination. Also at 6:19, they're huddled around Akane and are performing "Hengao" ("funny face" in Japanese) and are attempting to get Akane to mess up but she's just too good.
Life is too short for hate Love will always win at the end .Free to enjoy whatever you wish❤
"we have got to win" is a lyric from the Band Maid song No God
Good to know! Thanks 🙏
Kanami's guitar idol is Carlos Santana. Her biggest influence, she's said in interviews.
Another big influence is Larry Carlton of Steely Dan fame, along with his extensive solo work. Kanami said it was hearing his Room 335 that made her want to get serious as a guitarist.
Yes Shade i do know a song that would be right up your alley, "Don't You Tell Me" live from Yokohama. You won't regret it :)

Talking about a big concert. Their Yokohama Arena 3 &1/2 hour concert was amazing and every member was at peak performance and completely killed it. The live stream was also amazing and so is the bluray of it.
They call Saiki the Queen for a reason...incredible singer.
Miku has a wide range. Her normal register is similar to Saiki's, but she'll often sing in a higher or lower register to harmonize.
One bigger arena is the one they do "Hate?" in 2023. Its also a good and fun performance. Recommended, if you have not done it.

Kanami was sitting and keeping an eye on Miku as she forgot the lyrics in an earlier show, bit Ironic as Miku wrote the lyrics for this song.
Haha! thats funny
Thus the look Miku gives Mincho as she's singing. 😆
Saiki has sung different lyrics to several songs live. This is how you know it's live.

Me too! On the second song listen-through I’m familiar with it, so it’s fun to hear the subtle changes in performances. I’m loving Bandmaid so far
The founder of the band and rhythm guitarist is Miku Kobato. The explanation for the Small Pigeon is that's what her name kanji means. The real context is that Miku is slightly crazy. Fun crazy, and crazy like a fox, but crazy.
They're all crazy. Miku just more bizarrely than the rest of them. Which is why she's the best.

Nice reaction! When you can, do a LOVEBITES reaction, it's been my second favorite band to react to on my channel.
"More stuff like this." Dude, there's over 100 more songs just like this. Except where it varies. In which case it's even better. 😉
Kanamincho started as a nickname in school.

Keep your eyes on the details in the music video because it is full of inside jokes and quirks, i.e. Akane eats a lot, MISA drinks a lot, Kanami has a girl crush on Saiki, etc. ❤
Oooo Thank you!!
Recommendation: Puzzle (official live) and (acoustic)
Kanami is a big fan of Santana. Every once in while she plays a lick that sounds a bit like Santana. The Anaheim HoB 2023 show was a great show, at times the crowd was singing as loud as the band back by the mix position. All their big shows have been in Japan. Hopefully there is another US in 2025, and poor Europe has been waiting many years for another tour.
Say, might you be interested in a 3 video reaction to Endless Story? The Official Live video is special so I would save that for last. Love the 3 versions already format!

Yaeba teeth are fang-like overlapping teeth considered a mark of youthful beauty in Japan:

Honestly didn’t notice the teeth until comment in this video! Lol. But now it’s a really funny connection. I love it
you must react to Bandmaid and the Warning - Show Them Also should hit up The Warning they will blow your mind

Watch the Bandmaid live Honkai spinoff show. Great bass and drum intro.
Added to the list!
Hey Shade we are having a live Maidstream this Saturday night 10:00 pm est on Creativity Talkings reaction channel. It would be awesome if you could possibly stop by to say hi and help us support the Maids. 🍺😁🤘🏻🕊️
Hey! I’m actually out of town this weekend! I recorded a few videos before I left (you’ll notice I’m wearing this tan hat and black hoodie in quite a few vids…) lol.
Still have to miss this one, but can you let me know the next time they do one of these? I would love to join!
@ Sure! We are just looking for people to stop in and say hi in the chat. Not a big deal. We are called Carrier Pigeons we introduce new reactors to Band Maid and also support reactors who feature Band Maid. In fact we have promoted all of your Band Maid reactions as well. 🍺😁🕊️
@ oh I’m sure I can do that! I thought you were asking me to join the call and chat. My wife wouldn’t like that while on vacation lol.
@ We are looking into having multiple reactors on a livestream in the future if you would be interested in that. We would just need to find a host.🍺🥴
@@uffdad8211 💯% agree. I saw that young man in action at the Belasco Theater show in LA for Misa's Bday in 2022
I know you do the multiple version thing, it’s fun.
Good dual songs to listen to:
Domination (MV) - Domination (official live)
Don’t you tell ME (MV) - Don’t you Tell ME (official live)
Puzzle (official live) - Puzzle (live acoustic)
No God (official live) - No God (acoustic)
Secret My Lips (MV) - Secret MAIKO Lips (MV)
Thank you for the list! I have been really enjoying the two version format so these recommendations are perfect!
🤘🤘
God, I wish Band-Maid and Babymetal would do a collab lol. Could you imagine how many minds would be blown?
Could you imagine having Band-Maid shredding their guitars while Babymetal has a perfectly choreographed dance, with Su and Saiki harmonizing with the low and high mix they have?! that would be insane! Collab of the year for sure if it were to happen
@ That’s the exact same thought I had haha. Su and Saiki’s voices would complement each other well!
Theres another great version of Freedom where Miku has to take over because Saiki falls into the princess side of the crown lol
I’m not sure what this means lol
Ahh. You looked down after your comment about MISA hanging out with Akane (dr) it's when Akane sticks her tongue out at both Saiki (blue rose) and MISA and in tempo.
If you want an interview with them that explains the pigeon thing. Search for the Music Gold Rush interview with them. It’s great.
Their live performances are always best, but there is one Band- Maid song (actually, there are a few) official music that is KICK-ASS. The official music is "Warning". If you decide to react to it, you'll see what I mean.
