Is it any little wonder that the rivalry between England and Scotland since before the Roman Conquest, which failed to make any significant inroads to Scotland past Hadrians' Wall, has persisted down the ages. This as a part of Scotland's heritage and will remain so for centuries to come. With the sound of the pipes and drums in your ranks, you would march to hell and back, and then ask when are we going again. I am English but my Mother's side of the family are Scottish. Perhaps the reason why my passion for the sound of the Bagpipes is second only to that of any true Scot. My grandfather was born and raised in Glasgow, we were very close when he was alive. He used to cry every "festival of remembrance", held at the Royal Albert Hall, when the pipes and drums of the Highlanders entered the scene. Probably because he remembers having lost so many friends and relatives to the same "tunes of glory" in the trenches. A great man who played his part in keeping the UK safe and free.
Not sure about your Roman history . Better check up with Bruce Fummie in You Tube. The pipes stir all our hearts and the sacrfice and bravery of our soldiers in so many wars makes most of us cry.
When history tells us of enemy troops being frightened by the sound of bagpipes coming through the woods or over the hill, it's not those spit and polish pipe bands I think of. It's these wild dudes. God bless these lads!
If this music automatically makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, you know you're of Scottish descemt. Proud member of Clan Ross , northeastern AL & southeastern/middle TN.
That happens to me, though I'm of jewish/german descent and live in the Netherlands. :P For me it started at a local fairly large highlands event when I was like 13~14. Near the end of the day like 10 full bagpipe bands all played schotland the brave together. I was sitting right in front. It was so powerful, overwhelming, and just pure awesome that I fell in love with bagpipe music.
Just can't understanding why people are just standing around... if I were there I'd be dancing up a storm LOL... the Scottish bagpipes and drums just move your soul!!!
Beautifull....I'm from Argentina but my. Gg grandfather was born in the Highlands I don't live in Scotland....but Scotland lives in me.....I love them!!!!!!
Way cool! This reminds me of my friend from college, Bonnie. I was studying for midterms & all of a sudden I heard bagpipes. My roommate thought I was nuts but I went out into the hall & a crowd of gals was standing outside Bonnie's room. I walked over to them & saw Bonnie facing the far wall of her room & playing the bagpipes with gusto. Amazing. We coaxed her into playing her bagpipes for a dorm party & all the guys were stunned that this petite, 5' tall gal was able to play so loudly.
From Western Australia. I saw this very group in Buchanan Street, Glasgow 10 years ago and was intrigued by their unusual kilts and wowed by their energy!
The cloth was originally many yards long. Just woven on a hand loom. As long as required. Dyed with natural plant dyes. The colour of the heather etc. Wrapped about the body. Hitched up with a belt etc. Usd to sleep in and protection against weather. The tailored 'kilt' is only a few hundred yrs old. Especially favoured by Queen Victoria.
There's something so primal about this music, I love it! Reaches right down into my soul and makes me want to dance and cry, all at the same time! Thank you!
Look at everyone having fun, shoulder to shoulder. No worries, No virus. I want that back, I want to not worry every day for my health, my job. I just want back the life we took for granted. The fun we didn't know could so quickly be taken from us!
You just have to do it...! Dont be affraid of a virus, you weren't affraid of the Flu your whole life so just live it... no worries. Have fun and live.. this is what the government dont want you to have anymore
Wow! The music is wonderful on its own, and seeing the musicians play with such enthusiasm makes it even better. I can feel the strength of the drums and other instruments coming through from the video, I can't imagine how it feels to be there in real life...it must be amazing! I love it.
Thank you so much for sharing your culture and your music with the rest of the world I absolutely enjoy it so much greetings to you and your troop from the United States
my grandparents name was MacNaughton and one of my sisters married Iain Burns and of my sons married a crutchfield...we've always loved the bagpipes especially these wildmen and more regimented Black Watch
Love it,pround of my culture country and Scottish blood flowing through my veins all so their is no greater sound to a Scot than that of the bagpipes 🏴love the freedom and feel a kilt gives you too
Sorry but none of it is remotely authentic. These pipes are modern military pipes from the late 18th century, and the drums, they never had drums like this nor these drumming patterns. And the music is a modern form which would be unrecognisable 3 or 4 hundred years ago.
Ah, yes, I'll never get tired of hearing this one! Clanadonia has made my morning even better now!
👌🏼🤣⚘😑⚘👌🏼🌷🤣
Agree. 👍☺️
Mine mornings too even if my neighbors dies not always share this point of view... Clanadonia is a good start for a Sunday morning... Even at 6 am😂
