I've been there! Laying in my bed for 8 hours having a Catastrophic Heart attack, because I couldn't afford an ambulance. I nearly allowed myself to just die before taking on that expense! Luckily I had a boyfriend that didn't listen to me and he drove me to the hospital. I did a lot of damage to myself and have never been the same. There is something terribly wrong with our health care system and I am ashamed of our country and the priorities in place. I could not have imagined this as a child or young adult. I surrendered.

But yet I’m thankful ... just going to get a check up in America is apparently $300.. being a hypochondriac that’s crazy ! As an EMT in America who has friends that fly fixed-wing life flight internationally, the hospitals in America may be expensive, but there's a reason. Patients are flown from Canada, France, and the UK to our hospitals for treatment daily because other countries struggle to afford the specialists and trauma centers we have. I'm not saying it's cheap, but the prices keep our hospitals running at the levels they are. Patients cannot be denied emergency medical care in the US no matter how expensive it is and compared to other countries, we have insanely low wait times. My friend in Denmark has skin cancer and he has to wait 6+ months for a basic checkup to see how it's progressing. Thankfully, we also have 'community clinics' in every major city in the US where low-income or no-income patients without insurance can go and get cheap or free primary medical care. When they're not experiencing an emergency.
The only medical facilities that can deny you due to not having insurance are Urgent Cares (they're pretty much mini-emergency departments, but they aren't funded the same as large hospitals and they're also only for minor-to-moderate injuries/illnesses), but in the US we have laws that ensure every person has access to emergency care, they're called EMTALA and COBRA. If you're interested, you can look further into them to get an idea as to how they protect Americans. I'm also open to any questions. I agree that prices need to be altered, but certainly not done away with entirely.

In the US you CAN get immediate medical care. In socialized medicine Canada my friend was put on a list and waited 7 months for breast cancer surgery because of perpetual shortages. We have excellent care in the US, and nobody like this guy is turned away because of no money. If you don’t live here, don’t make false assumptions.

My grandparents have been married since they were 17. 50+ years later. Ill never forget the time my grandpa tripped up their carpeted stairs. Completely fine. No complaints. Nothing broken or scuffed. My grandma was annoyed and thought him falling even a few feet as a 'oldie but goodie' was worriesome. She proceeded to call 911 for an abulance, claim she was the one who tripped. When the EMTs arrived and when they argued she should go to the hospital just in case she turned to him. "SEE! YOU NEED TO GO!"
The most romantic bitter thing Ive ever heard of. He died a few months before her. She proceeded to buy matching coffins and a dual burial spot.
"I married his dumbass. Im committed. And someones gonna have to vouch for him."
Fully was aware she was going to die of a broken heart after him within 12 months. "He was like my second kidney! I have one but needed one to really live life to the fullest. Im not gonna live long with one kidney- I drank too much in my 30s. Never seen such pure, tongue in cheek love

Such a good thing that the Trump administration reformed the Veterans Affairs Administration so that a veteran can go wherever they choose and receive the coverage they deserve instead of being forced to go to a VA hospital with long lines and poor service. It's never any fun to rely on the government for something as essential as healthcare, but since our veterans do - they deserve the best!

I'm just impressed by the contortions that old lady was performing with her foot up in the air above her head. Did it occur to them to ask her to sit leaning to the side and put her foot back so he could see her heel.

But so many abuse the ambulance and ER for things they should go see their family doctor for. And many times they can’t or don’t pay their bills. So the tax payers do. I mean their are genuine emergencies. But some calls are silly.
