After using your video to build 2 billy bookcases, I used your video on fitting oxberg doors. Gotta say it was so easy to follow, I fitted 2 sets of doors today, was so easy. Thank you for a great video.
So glad you have a video for these doors too. I used your video for the Billy and what I was expecting to be an all night project took me 30 mins. THANK YOU!
I wish I would have seen this before I put my doors on!! My doors are crooked & it's already anchored to the wall. This is a GREAT instrucional video - the speed is perfect, the camera shows what it needs to, you don't chat - just the facts. Thank you! I came to double check on adding the door handles. I had to add holes with a fixa ruler & a drill because I added oxberg doors to a pre-2014 Billy. That might be a nice add-on to this video. :) Be Well!
That bit about hanging the door on the hinges was utterly brilliant. In the diagrams that come with the product, they expect you to hang the doors on the cupboard as it stands. But doing it on the floor...sheer genius. Thanks a million for making something so daunting absolute child's play. I've got doors that go from top to bottom and you can imagine how heavy they are.
It depends on how it is deformed or how damaged it is. Some glue or a larger screw may work. If you just bought it, you may also be able to return it and get a new one
So glad I found this! I've struggled to adjust these hinges on Ikea furniture in the past but will definitely use your method next time. Do you happen to know the diameter of the holes that the bracket goes into? I have a billy bookcase from 10+ years ago which I just bought some Oxberg doors for, and it doesn't have holes where the hinges are meant to go. The holes it has are also larger than those on new Billys, so I want to try drill some smaller ones in the right places myself
We just put up four BILLYs and now are working on the doors. Wish we had done one at a time with the doors on it’s side. Upright it is hard to see the screws with bifocals 😂. Especially the bottom hinge. But live and learn.
I am trying to connect the door to the frame and have the 'fat screws' that you talk about that I think are bolts because they have a blunt end. They will not screw into the holes provided. What am I missing?
Someone gave me a partially dissambled Billy case, and by myself I simply couldn't get the door on! I also tried doing it on the floor, but from above, and that wasn't working either. Found your video and attached the door in 30 seconds!
I am struggling right now to get a door straight so I am glad I stepped away and saw this because I was about to just roll with it and try to ignore the slant🤣😂
Excellent instructions- do you know if a second set of doors will fit over the top 3 shelves? I’m giving this to my son to use as a freestanding pantry and they might want doors to the top. I bought one set of Oxberg already, but haven’t put it together yet. Thanks!
Hi there, I have had a couple people ask this very question. At first, I thought the answer was no, but now I am not so sure. I’m going to take a closer look at this and see if it will work. Stay tuned!
You can install them to either the top or the bottom. Just not both. Make sure it is attached to the wall if you attach doors to the top half. It will tip for sure
@@NotATechShow I’m interested in turning my Billy onto its side (like you have yours when you’re installing the doors) and adding feet so that it’s used the long way instead of tall. Do you think doors will work on top and bottom in that case?
I’m about to assemble a tall Billy Bookcase with these doors. Is it worth putting the doors on before putting the backing board on? Or would that be problematic?
This one was new as of last year. But you can get these doors on an old one no problem. See my other video about Morliden Glass Doors. I attached them to a 10 yr old Billy and show you how to do it :)
you created more work for yourself LOL, if you had just done it upright instead of doing 1 door laying down then flipping to the other side to do the 2nd door it would have been much easier and faster, once the hinges are on the door and you slide it onto the hinges that are on the bookcase the door supports itself. so you adjust the open close swing motion while upright then adjust the vertical up/down part last so everything lines up flush, your order was right but still created more work for yourself lol
Dude, I know right? My office/workspace has a low ceiling. My tall Billy only stands up in the corner of the office where the ceiling is higher. This was the only way I could get good lighting or a camera angle, LOL!
I looked at the instruction book, and i got super confused. I watched these video and ended up doing it alone! Thanks a lot!!

Thank you for watching! Glad i could help! Yeah the design has changed slightly on the newer Billys. But the concept is similar
Thank goodness for a down to real-life instruction.
The benefit of not having sponsored videos lol. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for the very good instructions on adding the doors to the BillyBookcase

Thank you so much for the kind words. You are right, it was ridiculous to try and do that standing up. Especially when you have to align it too
Thank you so much for your video. I've taken more time to try and hang the door than putting the fittings on. Plus I jammed my baby finger.
Thank you so much. It was very useful. The Ikea manual was not clear enough.
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching!
I have a small problem. One of the shelves keep falling. Any tips? I wanted to send a photo but I guess I can’t attach a photo here.
You might want to check if the peg hole has been deformed. That is usually the cause of these shelves falling. Try moving the shelve to another level
@@NotATechShow but then it will not cover the whole shelves. Is there a way to fix the deformed holes?

thank you so much!!! I was having trouble, but now I know what to do!
Awesome! Thank you for watching!
Thanks, you saved my sanity!

MUCH appreciated! 👍👍
Thank you so so much for making this video! Extremely helpful. Now I know I can do this. ❤
Very helpful! Thank you very much!

Mounting holes for the hinge screws are 5mm diameter
Ive just found the same thing. I assumed they hadn't changed the design. Out with the drill...
Could you do a video for pax installation, please?
can two doors fit above each other, that is cover the whole bookcase? thanks

Thanks for that 👍🏼
No problem 👍
How does it do with dust? I'm getting the Oxberg with glass, I'm concerned with dusts coming inside. Do I need to add weather stripping?
thank you so much for this
You are very welcome! Thanks for watching!
How to add feet to this bookshelf ?
Which tool have you used to fit the doors. Would need to get the specific one so asking.
What are those hinges called?
Not sure. They come with the Oxberg doors at IKEA
Thanks, very good
Thank you!
Unfortunately my Billy bookcase was missing the necessary holes!
Thanks
Thanks ssssoooo much.
You are very welcome!
are the hinges soft close?
They are not unfortunately
Is there something you can recommend that we can do to make them soft-close?
The package comes with rubber stickers that you can put on the bookcase to help cushion when the doors are closed. I used them and it works great
Do you know if you can install these to the top half or only the bottom?

Definitely assemble the whole bookcase with the back panel fitted so that it is square before fitting the doors.
How old was your Billy? Mine are 10yrs and I read that i'll have to hack to get these doors on

Can you put the doors on the top instead of bottom??
Yes! It works in both spots.
You can put the doors on both top and bottom. But you will need to attach it to the wall. If both doors are open, it could tip forward
Can 4 doors be fitted ie top and bottom?
Not really unfortunately. You would have to do something a little custom to make it work.

Thanks buddy.
Was about to venture for that
You saved my day

Thank you. If you could, I would love if you hit that subscribe button 😉. More Ikea builds coming
Wait it only comes with one door??
Yep, that's right. I have no idea why lol. If you try to add a second on top it will not fit.
