Yeah, it’s a totally different game. The way these fish survive in these little creeks always blows me away. It’s always fun to see all of the different places you can find fish hiding. Thanks, for watching! Cheers!
I have this rod and love it! i keep it in my vest since its so small. I really find it works great to bow and arrow cast when a creek gets too tight for my bigger rods.
Awesome! Yeah, I love it for bow and arrow casts. I’m going to be doing a video with the tiny ten 2 rod really soon. I can’t wait to have both of them in my arsenal for small creeks.
Thank you! Yeah, I’ve fished many little creeks like this with that rod. Unfortunately I haven’t found an easy way to film these solo trips on those tight little creeks. I’m going to try to experiment this year, and hopefully put out more content with the tiny ten and tiny ten 2. Thanks, for watching!
Utah is definitely a place for the bucket list. The fun thing is that you can catch fish anywhere in the state. So it doesn't matter if your in the red rock, the mountains, or plains, you can always finding a fishy piece of water. Thanks, for watching!
Nice looking little creek and trout. Your video really showed the potential that the TinyTen rod has. I'm intending to buy one of these little rods when they are back in stock at the end of July. Cheers, Steve.
Thanks, for watching! You won't regret having one of these rods in your arsenal. I carry it with me on every trip to smaller creeks and use it when things look fishy in really tight quarters. It will definitely open up more possibilities for you.
TinyTen rod is back in stock. Mustn't dawdle this time and miss out. Cheers, Steve. PS I use .7mm floating running line for much of my tenkara fishing. Would that be similar to what you use? Steve.
I bought one of these rods partly because of your video! I find that my other tenkara rods are too long in small creeks with lots of brush. Cant wait to try it out! Thanks for your video.
Hey Steve, thank you so much for watching! I was in the same boat, lots of small creeks with holes that I couldn’t access. This rod will totally up your game. It’s a rod I never leave behind.
I love trout fishing whether it be spinning rod, tenkara rod or fly fishing i love it all... im new to tenkara and this rod looks like a must have! Thank ye sir! God bless you John 3:3
Yeah, it's a lot of fun. A definite go-to rod for me, especially since I love fishing these little waters. I'm like you, I like catching trout in any way, shape or form. Thanks, for watching!
This rod is soooo much fun. It definitely gets you into places that no other rod can. Enjoy! I'm looking forward to getting back out as well! I'm sure I'll have many more videos putting this rod to work. Thanks, for watching!
Thanks for watching! I will definitely keep posting up videos. This last year I started a new job and it’s kept me extremely busy. This year things have started to settle and I’m planning on doing a lot of videos.
Yeah, it's a great rod. I know that he just released an 8 footer and I'm anxious to get my hands on that one as well. It's a great little rod for those super brushy creeks that no one else even attempts to fish.
Just bought one based on this video. I already own six Tenkara rods, and they’re very portable, but I like the idea of having another one that can go anywhere, especially for micro fishing. You’ll see I do a lot of that. Lol
That's awesome! I'm the same way. I think I have 5 Tenkara rods now and I still need to have more haha. They are pretty much all used for different situations so I justify it ;). I just can't get over how simple and effective Tenkara is. Thanks, for watching!
Awesome! I love how simple and compact this rod is. I always keep it on hand for little creek adventures. A few years ago I found myself out on the river with so much stuff that I felt like a pack mule. I decided to look into simplifying my fly fishing experience and that was when I came across Tenkara. Now I can breathe when I get out on the water. Thanks, for watching!
FYI - we interviewed the founder of Tiny Tenkara in our recent podcast if you want to find out more about the brand. Alternatively, we also wrote it up as an article. Just thought I'd let you know. Oh, and there's a 5% off voucher at the end of the article. :)
I don’t use much line and tippet. I usually do 50/50 and keep the line around 5 feet. I prefer to use pvc line. Here is a link to the line that I use. Light PVC Floating Tenkara Line 20ft (Cut to Length Wanted) www.amazon.com/dp/B01HNSHW9S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_oB29EbJZ52TGJ
Where are you fishing in Utah? I just moved to Orem. I’m new to fly fishing, it seems to be a pricy sport. Tenkara seems a lot cheeper to get into. How much is that rod? For such a small pole what length line and tip-it do you put on it?
Hey there! Sorry I’m just getting around to your question. I fish anywhere from Nephi up to Logan. This little rod here is on the more affordable side but can be a bit more difficult to catch fish if your new to the sport. I’d recommend starting with a tenkara rod in the 10-12’ range on bigger water. I generally keep my line length the same length of the rod or shorter. Honestly, just get a cheap tenkara rod on Amazon, see if you like it and then splurge on something a bit more expensive if it’s something you enjoy. Just like anything else, tenkara and fly fishing can be as affordable or expensive as you make it. You can get by with minimal gear and entry level gear or get all the bells and whistles. Cheers!
The biggest fish that I've caught was just shy of 14". I don't know that I'd push it any further in my opinion. Maybe I'll have to put it to test though so everyone can know what the limit is for this rod. Thanks, for watching!
I use a line sold by dragontail. It's a 0.6mm pvc line that you can purchase on Amazon. I believe it's tapered but I don't use enough of the line for this rod to be able to even see a benefit of the taper. I imagine for a rod with a longer reach, it would make a difference from level line. In this video, I also use an indicator tippet made for euro nymphing from Umpqua. Thanks, for watching!
I've found that for stillwater fishing with Tenkara, the easiest way to get into fish is by sight fishing. If there are fish that are actively rising close to shore, or cruising for food, that is typically when I do best. I've definitely had the most success on smaller rivers and creeks for trout. I'd give that a try. It will give you the most opportunities for getting into a fish and give you some practice setting the hook. Good luck!
I buy a 20 ft pvc line from dragontail and cut it to the length that I want. Here’s a link to the line I use. DRAGONtail Light PVC Floating Tenkara Line 20ft (Cut Down to Length Wanted) www.amazon.com/dp/B098TZMP2L/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_F68GQSZWPFDD8SW00BT1
Hey, so with this tiny ten I usually have around 2 and a half feet of line and about a foot of leader. I tend to have longer line going out on the creek and I cut it down to whatever works best for the creek I'm fishing. I keep a few different sizes in my bag and extra line in case I need to go with a different length for a different hole.
Buyer beware. First trip out, the ferrule separated from the rod tip. I was pulling in a 4-6 inch whitefish. The ferrule, lillian, leader, tippet, snap, fly, and (likely dead) fish are now one big rat's nest in the river. Before you go out, give your rod a pull test and make sure your tippet breaks before the shitty glue on the ferrule gives up.
Yeah, always a good idea to check the ferrule before you go out on any tenkara rod. Give it a few tugs and make sure it's in there nice and tight. I've had this happen on a few different brands. I know that sometimes the epoxy used for bonding can be heat sensitive. Whether the bond comes loose from poor production, or from shipping in a hot box, I don't know. I know from experience that leaving any fly rods in a hot car can cause problems. If you catch it before you go out, grab some epoxy and let it sit overnight and you'll be set.
Thanks, for checking out my video! Right now I'm using a tenkara usa floating pvc line. I use this rod for very tight quarters so I keep the line quite short. I use around 2-3 feet of line and 1-1.5 feet of tippet.
It’s made by Tiny Tenkara. If you look in the video details below the video, there is a link to their shop and I have a coupon code you can use as well. Cheers!
Great video,,,,, I live in England I have found the site for the manufacturer of the superb little rod but can't find details of postage charges I have tried email address but it doesn't get through, I thought you might have a ruff idea how much the postage would be. Thanks.
Yeah, you may be right. I've caught a few out of that creek before. The freckles are consistent with a cuttie. However, sometimes on those small fish when they're parr marks are prevalent they almost overpower the faint red band in those small rainbows. I always check for the orange slit under the jaw and I don't believe that fish had it. Anyways, thanks for watching!
Haha yeah, generally it would but not a huge concern on this creek. It actually has an established trail system. Anywhere else, I wear breathable waders all summer long for that reason alone. Thanks, for watching!

It’s so awesome. You’ll be able to put flies in the craziest places. You wouldn’t believe where some fish hide. Thanks, for watching!
What is the weight limit for these types of rods in relation to the size limit of the fish being caught. Thanks
Not sure on the limit, but I probably wouldn’t try to catch anything over 12” with this. This is definitely a rod for really small brooks and streams.
I do a lot of traveling and not a fan of packing all my fly gear. I've been looking for a reasonably price little Tenkara! Thanks!

I just got the Tiny Tenkara. What size tippet can I use with it?
I usually fish 5x and 6x with it. Super brushy streams where I know I’m going to get hung up, I’ll do 4x so I don’t break flies off all day.
@@FishikiFlyFishing Right on. Thanks bro.

Love this type of fishing. Great video! Can you tell me what the first song is on this video?
Thanks! The first song is called priddy by fasion.
This rod is best for bow and arrow casting in very tight places. Otherwise, not an ideal casting rod. The 8' tiny tenkara is much, much better.
What kind of net do you use?
I use a Handy Pak Net for small streams like this one. I did a video collaboration with Handy Pak, the video is on my channel.
