    The "average Al" criticisms were always ridiculous. I always saw him as "everyday" Al. what makes Horford so important is his IQ and selfless play for the team. He can take 7 shots in a game and dramatically impact the results with his passing and just his presence, he always brings it, and if they need him to step up and score 20, he will. He is a versatile, willingly flexible, team first player with All Star talent.

    It's crazy how a player like horford was not common back in 2012 but now everyone can shoot even embiid a huge monster ass player who can shoot the three and back you down in the paint. Now everyone is growing up to shoot the 3 at a young age much younger than I was when I started playing basketball. I am glad to see the game has evolved to what it has because my first coach I had would yell at me for even shooting midrange shot. I was a center and now you see all of this. Still astounds me!

    You know why Al Horford flinches at the ball? It's because ever since he was young, he would get bullied and get balls chucked at him. Causing him to grow up with the traumatized thought that another ball might hit him. Little did those bullies know he would become one of the greatest centers/power forwards proving everyone wrong and conquering his fear. You know what's also crazy? I just made all this up.

    Who's here after Horford signed with the 76ers? Embiid must have told management he can't deal with Al so they brought him on board.

  • @ThaLedg
    @ThaLedg 5 років тому

    Horford is and always has been one of the most underrated players in the league.
    He's not flashy, his stats dont blow you away, he doesn't have an ego or big personality that draws attention but instead he plays basketball with his 100% of the time. He knows his matchups, he knows his rotations, he communicates well, sets good screens, can play inside and outside, can guard wings and bigs, excellent P&R player on O and D, doesn't need the ball in his hands to make an impact,...
    He's basically everything you want from a 3rd option and modern big.
    Now in regards to the matchup vs the sixers, he is definitely the perfect player to guard Embiid. HOWEVER I do think there is another layer to Embiid's struggles... And that is Ben's utter reluctance to learn how to shoot.
    If Ben learns how to shoot at a respectable clip, it would add a whole new layer to the whole offense. It would force Horford to consider him as a threat in the P&R. The sixers with Ben are too predictable for experienced teams like the Cs and bucks, no matter the star power they have

  • @NeverNotHoopin
    @NeverNotHoopin 5 років тому

    Well said and this is a high percentage possibility but like the things have changed for the Sixers things have also changed for the Celtics. The problem Celtics heve right now is that they still didn´t figure out how they all fit in with Kyrie healthy. WIth Kyrie and Hayward out the game seems to be more fluid, the team seems to have more fun, the players grind for each other. All that results a higher efficiency of players on and off the ball. Hope they figure this out in next two months

    I liked the Steven Adams love. Since everyone thinks the Western Conference Finals are going to wind up OKC v. Golden State, you think you could do a Steven Adams v. Demarcus Cousins match up. I know a lot of people will think thats a crazy comparison, Cousins being an all-star and Adams not really being a scorer and all. However, I did a little research of Big 3s, specifically the third man, and their stats were remarkably similar to Steven's.
    Kevin Garnett, in the year he won a championship with the Celtics, averaged 18.8 ppg on .539 fg%, 9.2 reb, 3.4 ast, 1.4 steals, and 1.3 blocks.
    Chris Bosh, in the two years he won titles with the Heat, averaged 18.0 and 16.6 on .487% and .535%, 7.9 and 6.8 reb, 1.8 and 1.7 ast, .9 and .9 steals, and .8 and 1.4 blks.
    Manu in the 3 years that the the Spurs won the title, averaged 16, 16.5, and 12.3 ppg (I'm leaving out his % because he was a guard and obviously shot worse than big men). 4.4, 4.4, and 3 rebs, 3.9, 3.5, and 4.3 ast, 1.6, 1.5, 1 steals, and less than half a block each game.
    Steven Adams - 15.3 ppg on .608 fg%, 9.9 reb, 1.7 ast, 1.5 steals, .7 blk. These are the facts.
    I would like to hear your opinion on that match up tbh lol

    I welcome this renewed Sixers rivalry and I have to say that us beating the Sixers last year was all because of having more experience, especially in the playoffs. Sixers started 3 playoff rookies in Embiid, Simmons and Covington. It is near impossible to beat a great defensive team with playoff experience when your top 3 players have 0 playoff xp. I fear the Sixers in the near future, even though I feel the Celtics will take it in 7 this year. Just hope they don't fire Coach Brown. I think he deserves to coach this team.

    It's very simple tactic now, release the Boban and wait for Al to foul himself out which will be very fast if he tried to play similar kind of defense on Boban. After that Embiid will do the rest. Btw I've heard that Boban bought a pinky leash for Al.

    Embiid is injury prone but a great center...Al is sturdier cause he isn't as athletic so he relies on his IQ to match up. Great video... I never noticed he struggled somewhat against him

    Tobias Harris can definitelty defend Al Horford, but the problem is that Embiid will have to defend a much faster 4 like Marcus Morris or Gordon Hayward who both can score threes which would be horrendous. Embiid is doing a good job imo. Al is still locking him up, but Embiid got previous game pretty close with some clutch plays. Ben Simmons is the problem if you ask me. With every opposing defender in the post and your pg not willing to shoot a three defensive rebounds and steals are just som uch easier. It's Ben's and Brett Brown's fault at this point.

    Horford flinching at free throws is not because he's scared of the ball, he does it to make the shooter know that he shot a brick.
    And I'm not kidding, this is an statement by him.

    I’m even guilty of even remembering that Al is on the Celtics from time to time. Was always aware of how good he is in ATL, but I just forgot about him when he’s surrounded by Kyrie, Tatum, and Brown. He’s legitimately an underrated player, not one the the guys that people claim is underrated just bc they really like their game or whatever.

    Now the odds of this working are pretty low but If i were the Sixers I’d honestly just give it a shot and let either jimmy butler or Ben Simmons try guarding horford can’t go worse than it did with saric

    Giannis needs to be surrounded by shooters. Brook, Mirotic, Middleton, those are all great shooters who Giannis can kick it out to for easy shots. Then you also have Bledsoe who can do the same as Giannis. But then you also have the option to not only dish it to the shooters, Bledsoe could also pass around players for a bounce pass to Giannis and the easy slam. The only part that worries me is the bench. Even though, Malcom Brogdon is a great player to have off the bench, Milwaukee will need to improve on that end. But the 76ers also don’t have a very good bench. But I do believe that Matchups will favour the Bucks and they will get the #1 seed and easily beat the Pistons or Hornets in 4. Then you have the 2nd round which could be the most exciting round of the playoffs. Doesn’t matter which conference. If the Nets or Pacers lose in the 1st like expected, we could have 2 great, long and dramatic series that could each go 6-7 games. But if the Nets or Pacers upset either 76ers or Celtics, then my money will 100% be on Milwaukee because that’s 2 teams now out of the way. But if not, then I have Milwaukee coming out of the East at a 95% chance. I think Toronto will get to the 2nd round and maybe lose to the 76ers while the Bucks face the Celtics and as we have seen, the Bucks have just found a way to beat the Celtics. And I am talking about 2019 and 2018 because the Celtics May be the same but the Bucks are a completely different team from coaching to roster to roles to plays to everything basically. They have really switched the way they play the game and they have altered it in a way that means they will be NBA Champions. But, just imagine, Kemba on the Bucks. Now that’s scary
