When Vinnie played for Leeds my son used to go watch them train at Elland Road. One day he came over and spoke to him and asked him where he lived and when he told him he asked how he was going to get home. he said he was going to walk so Vinnie gave him his bus fare. He will always be a legend to Leeds fans

At least now Gazza is looking a bit better than before, wasn't so long ago he was wandering the streets in an alcoholic stupour for days and had to be rescued by his family. Maybe there's hope for him yet.

Paul Gascoigne was the most gifted British footballer of that generation. An immense talent. One could perhaps argue that he, in fact, had few, if any, equals at his peak. It’s saddening to see that this is forgotten by so many. An astonishingly good footballer.

Taken as a comparison to those in his generation, Gasccoigne is the greatest English player of all time. If you factor in achievements, It's probably Rooney. If you put Gascoigne in that early premier league Manchester United team, he would be considered unequivocally the Most skilful andd probably the greatest English player of all time.
Amazing really, how many parallels there are between the 2 personalities of Gascoigne and Rooney, but Rooney had Fergie to keep him grounded

Like many on here , I'm amazed ( and glad) that he's still around but you just know that one day in the not too distant future, we will be reading his obituary.
Credit to Vinnie Jones here for reminding people that Gazza is not a buffoon, he's a sick man with an illness that is totally evil in it's perniciousness. Great interview by two men that the game could do with now.

Tell me about how you progressed from Brickie ,Football stars to Hollywood acting/Producing as obviously you have used your talents better than he has. From being a brickie to his place now id say he has more smarts than any person commenting. But feel free commentators degrading Mr Jones how you have done more with your life. Man what a player Gazza was, its a shame that players like Gazza and Matt LeTissier don't get the credit they deserve for how amazingly talented they were, I would have taken those two over a ponce like Beckham was any day of the week.

And in which way is that? You think i am a 'chav' or something who cannot hold a discussion? You assume i am going to come at you swearing and giving you grief for disagreeing with my comment? Seems you judge people too fast, my friend.
Gazza was hounded by the press in UK, who bugged his phone and listened in on all his calls, left drink on his doorstep, rang doorbell and ran away so they could get a picture of him opening the door and picking them up. Along with all kinds of other disgusting things for around 15 years. They had him thinking he was crazy, as he could hear things on his phone (clicking), they blocked his fathers number, etc, etc and when he was telling family, friends and, even, his therapist they didnt believe him. They (the media) paid people to take him to the pub to get him drunk in order to get stories on him. When you have a whole field of people going after you like that, all whilst battling a difficult addiction to get out of and the people closest to you are not believing you and going on like your crazy (for years and years) then it is sure to cause some mental health issues. You think you could come out unscathed and unaffected? Sure, you can say it was ultimately his own choice to take said alcohol and such. But, to lay no blame on the industry that hounded him is simply denying it happened and had an effect on him.
