INteresting video, thanks. Well done for getting it to run! That BOSCH fuel pump seems like a bit of a weak point, that could potentially cause problems again. If it only takes a hammer to get it running in the right spot like that. What happens once it gets hot after running for a while and you hit a few speed bumps or something, it could just move slightly and cut your fuel.. Would be interested to see a strip down and analysis of the cooling system too, and testing the head gasket.
It isn't that bad. I used a hammer to move the top part while it was still loose. Then once in the correct position I tightened it down and it will not move over bumps and stuff! Yeah, let's see what is wrong with it! I hope it isn't the head gasket..
@@Td5Adventures In your opinion, the best diesel engine there are people who warn about this engine and say the best is the Range Rover engine from 2002 to 2006 td6
Well done , I’m having issues with my pump leaking on my P38 , sealed the top but it’s started at the next bit down , looks like I’ll have to do a similar job to it , I’ll get a big hammer 😂👍👍🤠
Great news it's now running... Could you disconnect the heater matrix where the heater pipes go through the bulk head and put a small pipe so it acts as a heater matrix bypass so you can see the other leaks and maybe see if it hold pressure and not over heat.... Thanks for sharing and look forward to seeing the next instalment....
Thank you! That is a very good suggestion to eliminate trouble spots! I will see if I can find a small piece of pipe that will fit, I checked the hoses going into the firewall and your idea is defenitely possible! I really have to fix the heater core leak anyways because we live in a really cold climate..
Hi! Thanks for watching! This job was not hard for me. I don't know why your pump dumps fuel into the oil pan (if you mean sump with that) because the fuel injection pump is not connected to any oil supply.
@@Td5Adventures some people said to me that if there are gaskets bad in injector pump it could leaks diesel into the sump but i dont know (im a mechanic my self but have never dealt eith with this kind of a problem)
@@mechanicfromeurope okay! Well I'm not an expert either so it might be true although I haven't seen any oil lines from the pump. Worst case it might leak diesel into the timing chain case and get to the oil that way?
A very interesting and informative video, thank you very much, looking forward to the next video.
Really impressed with your English and the rangey. Well done.
Thank you! I've just ordered some more parts so there is more content coming soon!
👍 Perfekt Job, i love my P38 dse and Defender tdi...
Thanks! That is great to hear, I hope to enjoy my DSE as well, although that seems far away still..
Wohoooo it runs! Very good job, but still some work to do, can't wait to see it on the road :-D
Thank you!!! It is a big win but yeah, still a lot of work left to do😅😅

Looks bloody cold!
Cold garage, it was about 2°C when filming this..
Great job my friend
Thanks for watching!
Can I remove the p38 petrol engine and replace it with the diesel engine on the same rules and gear for this model
@KING يوتيوبرز منصور no, the gearboxes, torque converters and output shafts are different between the V8 and diesels.
@@Td5Adventures Thank you very much, sir

Congratulations 👏 I have same fuel pomp in my BMW 525 with similar problems 🤦✌️
Thank you! Oh no, that's a shame, have you rebuilt the seals? It could run bad if there is air getting in somewhere.
Congratulation 👌
Thank you for watching!!
Sehr gut! Since your last Video, I'm looking for a P38 as a Defender 130 saver. 🙄. A new rusty screw in my head...
Best regards from Germany
Danke sehr! Oh cool! Yeah the P38 is a very very nice machine and I also want to save my Defender :) Hope you find one soon!

Oh man, I'm sorry, these things are such a pain 😫😫
Hope you get it done with a bit of loving violence!
@@Td5Adventures yeah I’ll sort it , fuel too expensive to pour on the road 😂👍👍🤠

What do you think about using these engines or the td5 discovery 2 engine, which is better
I have the problem finding the electric parts of high fuel pump i change 4 so far 😅
👍👍😁
I agree!!!
Could u please tell how hard was the job my problem is that my injector pump is dumping diesel into my oil pan, how hard it could be to fix?

These engines are poor in P38, I removed mine and fitted a Mazda t3500 engine from a 5 ton truck and the P38 is really fantastic now.
They go a long way if you take care of them!
