    Nice man... old school topic forsure... I've come across some really "Tall" rounds that would really open up to this method. I wish I had some thick Cherry rounds like that. Got myself some thinner stuff but it's beautiful none the less.. Thanks again

    Do you sharp your steel wedges or it is not necessary?

      Hey! 1. It's not necessary, in the way that a maul doesn't have to be sharp. That being said, I would rather always have a sharp axe/maul than a dull one.
      2. I do sharpen them when I clean off the chunks that mushroom on the striking end but never to any crazy level. Steel wedges often drive through the rounds into the ground, and too fine of an edge will just get dented or chipped. Also, I have to stack wedges and they bang off each other from time to time... A nice convex edge, like on an axe is good but no need to pop hairs.
