I have some memory of the cannibalism theory making rounds (2013-ish), but it was not something all that popular. By 2014 it was a more popular theory that she had killed herself, and thats what was keeping her story from being told.
You should try asking some known WC UA-camrs who had a media presence back then. Im sure they can clarify some details. Unfortunatly today a majority of the old gen readers grew from warriors and today we are left with a small group of adults who continue reading the series or just new kids.
My username and editing style is based mainly around that of Nomad Colossus because I like his works & his obsession with a single game. He's made and edited his videos in the same way since 2009, so my content carries some of that feel
According to the Wayback Machine, the TV Tropes Warriors WMG Fan Page first mentioned Mapleshade in November 2011. However, it has nothing to do with cannibalism with the post being titled "Mapleshade is still taking revenge on her mate's bloodline". The Mapleshade is a cannibal theory first appears on the page between July and October of 2013, as it is present on the October 2013 record. I remember hearing about Mapleshade being a cannibal around that time-- I would encourage you to look during the 2012 - 2013 period, though I would not be surprised if this was the first record of the theory.
I know the idea for the theory came from an interview or qna were one of the Erins (don't remember who) said that Mapleshade's backstory was too dark for warriors and we most likely would never see it(at least that's the story I've always been told I think I saw it on a warriors iceberg video)obviously we later got her backstory though
"I ate a cat"
"You make me want to cry. That's (In my opinion) kind of cruel. But even so, I do respect YOUR opinion."
"I will eat another"
