Sandra, I absolutely love your work! I hope one of these days I can be half as good as you. I am so impressed by how much pride, and care that goes into each and every one of your pieces, keep up the good work!! Thank you
How fun! Several people have mentioned the fact that they use the skins for jewelry, but you are the first one that I have seen to show the process. Thanks!
If I could hit 'like' a hundred times, I would. Your tutorials are so informative, relaxing and educational. I'm so excited to dive into jewelry making. I've got so many 'skins' I didn't know what to do with..thank you.
This is so helpful, i like the way you did this. Cuz i got skins lol. Tried the bottle pour but i used a small coke bottle, shouldv used a 2 litre for the size of canvas. Back to the drawing board. Thank you for sharing. They turned out gorgeous by the way. And yes, be proud of your artists hands. They are accomplished hands ♥️
I'm so pleased that I've watched your video! You taught me exactly what I've been looking to learn and which products were needed! I've been doing pours lately and had trouble nailing down what I needed for skins, a HUGE thank you for clearing this up for me! I'm stoked and cannot wait to get the adequate supplies! I appreciate you!! Following for more of your awesomeness 😎😁😀
Thank you! I have so many things I want to do and a lot of requests! I will make more jewelry videos down the road but you can always learn different things in the mean time!
This is just an incredible video. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and blessings with so many people. I went today and bought some jewelry, so I can do some pendants to give away to some friends. Like the idea of the tray to put the jewelry while you're gluing. Recycling. Can't wait for more of your videos. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for sharing your work! It is beautiful and you are very talented. I love how you give such clear, detailed instructions. You're a great teacher. I can't wait to try this. I also love your acrylic pouring. The feather pieces are especially nice!
u r a such great teacher Sandra.. i loooove all the pieces..all of them. Thanks so much for sharing your skills.. I will try the Lilly Glaze.. have been getting shiny spots with other adhesives..
You have to put glue on several times... on the glass to skin... in the tray a few times and let it dry in between... several coats... read the tutorial on Lillyd's ... it is good advice... Just ignore the copy paper part.. And you have to really press well to seal it to insure no bubbles... when gluing glass onto paint skin and when gluing into tray again later
Thank you..... I have a festival I am going to be in , in a month. So I will be making a lot more jewelry for that in a future video... SO look for it down the road!
I love the gold tones in the skins you used. I like your use of the page protector to pour your skins and they are thin and soft to mold. I use a clothes pin to clamp down on the cabs while they dry to make sure of a tight fit.
Beautiful! I do alcohol inks too and I use coffee filters with alcohol to clean my tiles before applying the ink. Maybe after you get your pieces cleaned of glue, then use the coffee filter with alcohol so they don’t have any fuzzies. Just a thought. Thank you for your great tutorials and amazing art. Denise
Thank you so much I have made about a dozen necklaces and the first six came out great but somehow the last ones did not. I am so glad to see your video and am going to try it your way. Thanks again
Yes that's a problem, a luxury problem.....lol I would paint one day and make jewelry the other day ;o) No matter what and how you do it, it is beautiful I am already a big fan of your art ;o)
Really enjoyed your video, plus i actually learned something (which is not normal for me lol) It really was interesting and I would love to give it a try. Just need to find out where to purchase the materials except for the paint skins i have a lot of those :)
My favorite site for all in one purchase ( watch their tutorial too) and so that is glue, kit (get the kits... it is too much to keep up with to try to figure out mm size and which glass cabochon fits what tray.... so just go with a whole kit... very inexpensive... chains, glue, etc... www.lillyds.com
Do you cover the skins with a gloss finish before you glue them to the the glass or does the glass give them enough shine? Love the video. You are a great teacher
What a great informative video, thank you so much Sandra. When cutting the skins have you every used a digital cutting machine, for example a Cricut or ScanNCut? Also, if I was cutting with scissors I would probably use fine embroidery scissors as they would give you a closer and finer cut - but I think you did an awesome job. Thank you for sharing your skills and experience. 💕💕💕💕💕
Thank you. I think scissors are much better than a cricut. You need to move glass cabochon around in the glue on the paint to "set" it and squeeze out any air bubbles. Any scissors work fine
Hi Sandra, great video. You keep the acetate backing when you cut the acrylic skins? On other videos, most other artists peel the skins off the substrate then glue to the jewelry. Is there a particular reason why you keep the acetate backing on the skins? Thank you for sharing you expertise.
If you watch the way I do this, it is much easier to glue your glass cabochon to the acrylic skin. Once it is dry, you cut around the piece of glass, then you can very easily peel off the acetate or whatever surface you had your acrylic skins adhered to. This makes for a much easier and tightier way to glue skins to the glass. If you are trying to work with a paper thin skin and trying to use glue to adhere it to the glass, you have a much harder situation to deal with. I think the way I explain makes sense. It was also on Lillyd's website in a tutorial. That is the way they explain gluing your glass to your plastic or paper or what have you. The only thing that won't peel off easily is paper or photo paper. So I just glue it straight into the tray attached to my skin, if that makes sense. Those types of surfaces are more porous and are not plastic enough to peel your skin off of
Sandra, you explain everything so well! thank you for this time you dedicate to help us with your ideas and beautiful acrylic pouring. I just have a question, I look up in amazon as craft paper and it shows an overwhelming variety of craft paper. Do you know the exact name of your craft paper? thank you so much!
Thank you so much Lilian... I am assuming you are talking about the butcher paper, which I love. Here is the link: It is a 30" X 50' roll www.amazon.com/dp/B00LH02P78/?ref=idea_lv_dp_
Yes! Are you sure you cannot peal the plastic away? If it is thicker plastic and you can't remove it... you need to make sure that the paint that is glued to the bottom of the cabochon still lies BELOW the edge of the tray you are gluing it into. You do not want the paint or plastic exposed in any way.. or there will be moisture or possible air bubbles to get underneath the glass. I hope that makes sense
Guess what! I finally did get some of the skin off the plastic. So glad, since you've mentioned possible air bubbles! WHEW and YES, it makes sense, moisture will reveal itself in the plastic if there is any moisture left, Thank YOU!@@SandraLett
Hi awesome work! I have a question. Where did you get the chains from I am planning on making some jewelry but I need a silver or gold chain that doesn't tarnish? Any info?
Thank you Kimberly. I purchase the kits and the glue from www.lillyds.com. I cannot promise that it won't tarnish. But the kit includes the tray, cabochon and chain. It is probably more like costume jewelry.
It may be a bit too thick. It depends on the brand of jewelry you use. I use www.lillyds.com jewelry kits.. some of the trays are deeper. I know the ones from Michaels and Hobby Lobby are cheaper and very very shallow. As long as the glass cabochon that is glued to the canvas is glued into the tray below the edge of the metal part... if the canvas is above the edge of the metal tray, it won't seal in air tight with the glue (to prevent bubbles and moisture from getting in). I hope that makes sense
It seems it would be easier if you used smaller, detail scissors for cutting off the excess skin. just a suggestion. love this project. thanks for sharing!
In one of the Acrylic Jewelry rooms, someone suggested using "Freezer Paper" to put the acrylic skins on? Is that just as good as the plastic protectors that you use?
I really appreciate your instructions. However, I don’t understand how it helps to glue your findings & allow them to dry overnight. Does that really help the bonding?
Moisture or not enough pressure being applied to where there are air pockets. You have to press really hard and firm and make sure all air bubbles are pressed out
No... the rings are about 10, the necklace around $20. Bookmarks $15. Keychain $20 and bracelet around $25.. If they buy a set, I may take off $5 or so... that is usually at festivals.
I think this is the one you might be looking for.. ua-cam.com/video/yoSIKEEw1B0/v-deo.html and if it isn't that one... Once all those are dried I do a follow up video do the horse silhouettes in video numbered (39)
What exactly is acrylic pouring, could you show this or explain how you made that slab of designs, was it from acrylic paints, I guess it is, so how thick is the paint or what thickness works best?
No... the skins stick to eachother super easy and are extremely thin. It actually makes your life much easier to glue the glass cabochon on first... then you have a guide to cut around the glass super easy!
Definitely.... Sometimes it is almost paper thin. The key is to glue your glass cabochon down on the surface of the skin. Allow it to dry overnight. Then cut it out around the edge of the glass.. Then if you have something like butcher or parchment paper, it will peel off the back. If it is on something like paper that is porous, you cannot get that off... Either way, you then glue it down into your tray setting. You just need to make sure the thickness of the paint is not so thick that you see the edge over the tray it lays in, if that makes sense
They are available at office supply stores and walmart ... You can put a piece of paper in between two layers of plastic to protect it... for office proposals, school work etc... But they are great to pour left over paints on
I use Lilly Glaze glue from www.lillyds.com where I get the jewelry. It is not thick and sticky like E6000, it has no odor, its waterbased and cleans up easy with alcohol
I am not sure... Did you use Lillys Glue? I have not used any other brand... And maybe not enough pressure pushing the cabochons down on the paint? I do not know... I have had a few, but I have done dozens and dozens of pieces... I press really really firm though
No sorry, i didnt followed all your instructions because i did not use lillyds glue but e6000 and diamond glaze. And full of bubbles. I cant order lillys glue because it will cost 50.00 bucks to have it here in Canada. 40.00 for shipping.
Sometimes they appears a few days later. It seams to interfear with my paint skin i think. Yes please do an other video with e6000 please please. I want to start a little business but i cant because of those bubbles.
@@SandraLett I apologize, I'm just getting started pouring, painting, decoupage, wood burning and now jewelry making (lol) with the skins, how exciting! Just curious! I love all that you do and has taught me quite a bit thank you!
I have been experimenting with acrylic skins and jewelry for a few months now. My problem is after completion about a week or two later some start to turn blue. Have you ever heard of that? I use Diamond Glaze paint and have used a couple different acrylic thinners. Sometimes it just looks like the glue may have dried and made it's own pattern as well. I'm so confused as to the problem. Any help?
I personally use the jewelry kits from www.lillyds.com and I use their glue (they have a good tutorial too).. I have not had that problem... Maybe check them out
There are probably plenty on Ebay and Etsy... the problem is , it is so much easier when you can get the whole kit... the tray and cabochon together.. when you purchase separately, you have to know the exact size of the cabochon to match the tray which is very confusing
I'm sorry. You really need to talk a little quicker and not say the same thing so many times over and over again. I couldn't even watch the whole video.
@@SandraLett I am impressed with how you respond to negative comments (although there are so few) but nonetheless - well done. It is baffling to me that someone's level of self importance is so great that they would feel the need to tell you that your process was inconvenient for them. Just move on then. Why would you need to say something unkind? So kudos to you Sandra. You just keep being you.
Try butcher paper.. It is in my Amazon recommendations link or if you have a Hobby Lobby you can use a 40% off coupon and get it in the banner paper rolls area... but this is the specific name of it www.amazon.com/dp/B00LH02P78/?ref=idea_lv_dp_ov_d&tag=aiponsite-20&linkCode=ic6&ascsubtag=amzn1.ideas.266KNCFOYHI9C
Also if you get sheet protectors like from an office supply store... those work really well.. glue cabochon on top of it or butcher paper and let it dry. Cut around the glass shape and the paper or plastic peels right off
❤ Thanks so much! Beautiful skins and finished pieces! And, thanks for the info about sourcing jewelry blanks & glues! You're generous soul!

In one of the Acrylic Jewelry rooms, someone suggested using "Freezer Paper" to put the acrylic skins on? Is that just as good as the plastic protectors that you use?
Yes... But you have to tape it down to something or it will crinkle up

Wet ones wipes or any comparable wipe with alcohol works well for acrylic wipeups.

Moisture or not enough pressure being applied to where there are air pockets. You have to press really hard and firm and make sure all air bubbles are pressed out

Wow! That is outrageous... I have E6000 and have never used it... It should work the same, you would think... I will hopefully do another video soon.
Sometimes they appears a few days later. It seams to interfear with my paint skin i think. Yes please do an other video with e6000 please please. I want to start a little business but i cant because of those bubbles.
Lisa Albert Lisa I also live in Canada and also have the same problem, did you ever figure out a solution?
Why two layers of glue? One that is dried and one to connect???
Yes, gluing the paint skins first, and then gluing it into the tray
Hello, where do you buy the jewelry? Love your work buy the way
Thank you! www.lillyds.com and I also use their specific glue too
I clicked on your Amazon page to access your jewelry making supplies, but it didn't direct me to your site, so you get credit when I buy?
I get all the jewelry making kits and their glue from www.lillyds.com
Thank you!
Fun!
Tammy Berger Thank you!
How much you charge for one piece...like a necklace?
It is $20... I only have a few left
@@SandraLett I apologize, I'm just getting started pouring, painting, decoupage, wood burning and now jewelry making (lol) with the skins, how exciting! Just curious! I love all that you do and has taught me quite a bit thank you!
You're welcome
could you use an alcohol wipe instead of putting it on a paper towel ?
I imagine so Roberta...may dry quickly
Loved this video...My dear you need small, craft or manicure scissors for these.
Thank you... I tried small scissors... I have large hands and a bit of arthritis... Larger scissors seem to work better for me
I have been experimenting with acrylic skins and jewelry for a few months now.
Maybe check them out
How much would you sell a piece for?
The necklaces are usually about 15. Rings, Earrings, bookmarks are 10. Bracelet is 25 and Keychain is 20
Beautiful! Where do you sell your jewelry?
Thank you! Facebook facebook.com/sandra.parker.trumpfheller/media_set?set=a.10214899602940477.1073741902.1139672806&type=3
What a shame Lilly’s doesn’t ship to Australia. I will google to find similar in Australian. Love all your videos
Thank you Courtney... You can go to the gear at the bottom right and speed up the video and just turn the volume down
@@SandraLett I am impressed with how you respond to negative comments (although there are so few) but nonetheless - well done. It is baffling to me that someone's level of self importance is so great that they would feel the need to tell you that your process was inconvenient for them. Just move on then. Why would you need to say something unkind? So kudos to you Sandra. You just keep being you.
@@MaCheriMarie thank you ..I truly appreciate it
What is the best paper to use for acrylic skins to just peel them off? I found out wax paper hasn't worked very well.
Cut around the glass shape and the paper or plastic peels right off
Very pretty!
Thank you Myrna!
