Great to see you reviewing this book. It deserves much more attention. I really liked it and it is such a fresh take on that subject. It reads a bit more like a memoir than a novel, but I was okay with it. I'm also preferring it over What I'd Rather Not Think About from the International Booker longlist, which was only okay for me.
Thank you. I thought it was a really good read and yes in places reads like a memoir, it made me wonder how similar to her character the author might be or whether some of the experiences were from her life.
I have similar thoughts to you, I would have shied away from this book if not for the prize but it was such a surprise. It has a lightness to it at times that takes you by surprise and helped keep me reading in spite of the darker aspects. I loved Jess and wanted to see things through with her and I too had a sense of hope at the end. It's one of my favourite books this year.
I absolutely agree, somehow it managed to take me by surprise at times and I was pleasantly surprised to enjoy it despite the dark elements. It’s one of my favourites too. 😊📚
I definitely think it’s a better book (in my eyes) to at least two of the shortlist, but then I nearly always think that at least one really book book misses out. 😊📚
I've just started this book and I'm at the book club chapter and wondering if the book they are discussing is A Little Life? It sounds like it to me but I haven't read it myself.
Thank you for the review. Glad you liked it!🙂
Thanks BJ. 😊📚
Just watched this and we basically said the exact same thing in our reviews! Loved it!
Excellent! Such a good book. 😊📚
One of the ones I’m definitely interested in reading from the WP list
It’s a really good one. 😊📚

Sounds an interesting read in many ways.

It's sounds like the prize winners missed a trick in not having this on the shortlist! 💙💙💙

I’ve not read A Little Life either but I also thought it was that and I checked with some book friends and they thought so too! 😊
