Daaaaaamn this game is hard!
The were more cool weapons/powers I didn't show, cuz they didn't drop for me.
There are no sound effects, but the manual says "F2 - Music on/off, Sound FX on/off", which is under "Atari ST & CBM Amiga", so maybe the Atari version has sound effects? I found two versions of this game, and tried both but didn't see a difference, other than the files were showing on the disks in the other version, while in this one I recorded they were hidden. Yeah, I tried all keys and even listened through the files for SFX - nothing.
07:01, just realized I could throw faster if I waited a bit between each attack, or he just did the throw animation and nothing came out. Also, can't attack when the fire thingy is above me or I get hit.
10:46 - the music started speeding up for a short moment for some reason. (edit: yeah, I see now, WinUAE went crazy and outputted the wrong frame rate to the .avi which messed up the sound. Wish I detected it during editing so I could have fixed it. Too much work to do it now)
10:54, no idea what happened here. Same thing happened to someone else's longplay of this game as well: • Amiga Longplay Ghouls ... .
At 13:55 I ran back and forth a bit, trying to trigger a blue enemy that kept popping up under me... this time he didn't show though.
The jump at 14:20 is not an editing error. It happens every time the music goes into that loud part.
15:44, only time you can climb as a/the chicken :)
03:44 - Level 1
07:20 - Level 2
10:00 - Level 3
12:34 - Level 4
15:36 - Level 5
19:15 - Final boss -

Tim Follin the best musician on any computer format.
Denny Haynes Chek out Chris Huelsback (or Hülsback) works. He really knew how to make the best out of the Fat Agnus.
I love the music in this!!
It's good music but it also sucks it has no sound effects and doesn't have the original music - which was way better.
@@robertwilson3866 Only the first stage. All other stages are renditions of the arcade music.
@@celenacristea7915 Not true, only 2 songs were ported (stage 2 and 4) plus no the music is better in this
@@Plasmariel I wasn't sure and checked stage 2 and 4 and thought it must all be there , oops. That's what i get for being lazy.
Have you heard the x68000 with a Roland Mt-32 version? That's kinda cool .
I'm with Robert, i like the original music better. It just seems wrong to have different music , even if its very good in its own right.
@@celenacristea7915 Yeah, replacing the original Ghosts n Goblins theme was pretty weird.
Wow the songs from this is neat
13:18 some of the best music of the Amiga in this game. I still humm the second level tune now and again..
Wow. Respect your opinion. But I would say its not even close. Probably not even the top 50 of best Game music on Amiga
this first stage music is terrifying!
Yes, i am totally disturbed
The answer is Tim Follin ^^
The 3rd stage music is very reminiscent of plok on SNES. Same composer.
6:39 The music and the action just fitted perfectly here. Perfect timing
Why?
@@moradin84 Super big enemy incoming, then is defeated and the soundtrack loses tension, almost perfectly matched to action.
Lol loved this game back in day happy memories 👍
the entire ost is a progressive rock dream
Only the 1st stage is different . All the other stages are renditions of the arcade music.
@@celenacristea7915 nope, only stage 2 and 4
Karen Broadhurst! ;)
I remember getting this as part of a compilation around 1989, my mates and I enjoyed this conversion and as already commented what a soundtrack!
Gremlins's compilation?
This actually came out a year before the Ghosts n Goblins port...
That one at least was pretty faithful.
@@ChristopherSobieniak yeah, do not think Elite got enough credit for their Amiga ports of Ghosts n Goblins and Commando. They were pretty damn close to the arcades.
@@auritone Yep, they were. They put more effort in those.
Love the music on here wish i owned this back in the day when I had my Amiga....
Actually a very respectable version. It doesn't waste time trying to be a carbon copy of the arcade game. This is its own game
The music 😍
The level 4 theme sounds pretty great!
The title screen music is genius, and so is most of the soundtrack ^^
That's about the only good point of the port, sadly...
OliKad I totally agree!
OliKad
The port's decent, it could've been better, it did come before the port of Ghosts 'N Goblins by Elite weirdly
For some reason when I was a kid playing this I always thought the second level was on top of heaps of gold coins... now I realize it's just dirt :( Also Lucifer should have been harder and use the title music.
I love the stage 1 music~
This game is all about the music. I played it just to hear the extremely creepy music in the first and second level. Never heard anything like it.
no second loop or was it edited out?
No second loop.
Being a big fan of the Arcade version this Amiga port really disappointed me. Can't fault the music though.
BackyardEpicMovies They let Tim Follin do his thing. he obviously never played this game before but he was a trooper!
@Nicholas Rumleskie One of the greatest VGM composers of all time.
I had this and enjoyed it at the time but much later played both the Megadrive and SNES versions. They are just so much better. This looks like it was made for Sega Master System
Yeah but those ports were not as genuinely scary as this one
Well here’s the irony: The Sega Master System version actually was a fantastic port. Check it out for yourself.
05:56 at lest the magical spell put you a nice bow just in case you have to step in front of your girlfriend's door, nice touch.
4:52 Parasite Eve OST?
Dat OST...
10:45 Those speed-ups aren't actually part of the game isn't it?
No sound effects?
Dova Link The limitation of having an Amiga!
How could that be a limitation when cheapo versions like the C64 had both?
its probably a coding screwup, given the description of the video, it sounds like the files are there, but just arn't coded properly to work in the amiga version for some reason.
@@ChristopherSobieniak
The Amiga could do simultaneous music and sound effects.
60fps please!
such a shame that such fantastic music was wasted on this poor port.
This game could be worse. It ain't easy! ❤
They had to do this from scratch!!? On the amiga! I'm impressed.
esse é top!
Except for the music, a very little worked conversion. A computer like the Amiga was capable of much more.
A missed opportunity.

This game is weird. The music is super theatrical but they ditched the sound effects?
Insufficient voices for sound effects and music at the same time in-game
Hard af, thank God for the karen broadhurst cheat!
so the Devil is Rushifell i guess
Come on Lucifer... Give us more challenge
The Amiga can do a lot better than this.
Shadow of the Beast, case in point - came out around the same time.
Quick arcade port to meet a deadline.
Wow, it has good soundtrack even though it was released in 1989.
That's what the Amiga does.
until early 1990's, Amiga was great
***** Early 1990s Amiga was great and the best stuff came out then.
the music is great. But with no doubt the music for the C64 version is better in the 5th stage.
The music was suprising. The game was sucking..why so short?
21:47 Laziest demo ever
This first level music does not belong in this game. On a Quake port perhaps. Not here, fortunately it catches up on second level. Still it doesn't hold a candle to the sharp x68000 midi version
The only thing good about this port seems to be the music. The game looks pretty terrible otherwise. How could they let the 8-bit Sega Master System version to completely destroy this version?
im done
the genesis one is harder
Everyone watch this video for the music first
Indeed
I think the intro might have been better if it had been shorter. 3 minutes and 44 seconds of the same thing is waaaay too long.
I always record the entire intro music in my longplays. Some can be quite lengthy. My aim is to show as much as possible of the games. One can always jump ahead to skip to the gameplay ;)
The intro is the best part of this port. I still prefer the Genesis' music for all stage, boss and ending music though.
Heh, try imagining that for the Genesis version of Adventures of Batman and Robin. You'd be sitting there for 9 minutes! 9 minutes of pure bliss, granted, but 9 minutes nonetheless. :P
I think you have bad taste
The game Is hard lol.
Dire - lol
I and the Father are One John 10 30
very disappointed especially when you look at ghost and goblins on amiga which is far better than this one. graphics are low, animation awkward, music completely off compared to the original, stage 1 is apocalypse compared to the classic theme, stage 5 has nothing to do with the original which is far better... to be forgotten.
Lo unico bueno que tiene este juego es la musica, lo demas es horrible
In my opinion it's not good plot. Amiga did better with Ghosts' n Goblins.
Wow, looks like shit compared to the SNES version....
Compared to Mega drive version. SNES had super ghouls n ghosts.
terrible conversion
The port is horrible.
Typical U.S. Gold awfulness sadly.
Another disappointingly Lazy Amiga Port. This and many others could have been so much better. This could have been as good as the Megadrive/Genesis Version if they had some decent coders on the job. The music is Basic and functional enough to have included Sound FX at the same time but sacrificing a channel. of just have it cut out when needed. The graphics are poorly drawn (like the intern did it or something), with some pretty dumb colour choices. There is so much laziness ie: The character Sprite is meant to go through the Guillotines.. not in front of them. ie 4:49 / 5:03 (What the f)., 7:13 Thats meant to be more than just a Random brick door in the middle of the woods. 10:27 The knights are not moving? or flying across with their swords. Even the C64 version does that. 10:57 Missing Gargoyle Opening and closing mouth animation. Again the C64 has that. I understand that there were restrictions back then to make games run on a stock A500 with 512kb Ram.. even so... they could have done a way better Job. The entire Megadrive version fit into Roughly 650 Kb. Use the bit of extra space on an Amiga disk for the Music Sample for the Game Music and sound effects. etc. Just saying.. The Amiga could have utilized Loading only need things for that level in the memory.. and made a brilliant version of this. It sucks. Bad.
nice tunes but the rest is pure trash. Very far from the Genesis/Megadrive, SNES, Supergrafx versions
