The word "In seoul" references to the three top colleges in S.Korea. seoul national university, korea university and yonsei university, which are together called SKY. Kids there are literally told that if you don't go to the colleges you're a failure and there's no point in studying if you can't get into one of them. So basically they were saying that will going "in seoul" give them happiness or not ????
I've seen that kids there stay in school from 8am to 5pm and after school classes may go upto 10pm or so. They also have to go to academies where they are prepared for CSAT, which is the exam they have to give to get into SKY. In an interview when a high school kid was asked whether he hangs out with his friends or not , he said that it's a waste of time for him as he can utilize it in studying as well. The pressure there to succeed and get a 9 to 5 job is really high.

@@walibali5894 I used to watch a lot of kdramas and at first I thought they were just exaggerating so I watched some high school vlogs to see whether they were true or not. And as I started watching more for study motivation, it turned out they were true. I also watched the interview of a high school student preparing for csat, I got a lot of info from there as well. I also follow dkdktv so I know a lot from there as well. I practically live on youtube so I have a lot of unnecessary info lol.
i suggest watching Kdrama SKY castle it's about graduating students who are preparing for exams

What they are talking about in this song is especially true for students/ children in South Korea and other Asian countries. Of course children elsewhere can also feel a lot of pressure but I do think that in the majority of cases it can't really be compared to what they are speaking of here.
I'm not sure if this is said later in the video, I just wanted to add that N.O stands for "no offense" which is kind of a mocking of the extreme politeness younger people have to have when speaking to elders even though they can be treated without respect as they discuss in the song.
Omg yes thanks for this comment, a lot of people don’t realize how much more difficult it is in asian countries. I just wanted to add the part where RM says “in Seoul, to the SKY” where SKY stands for the three most prestigious universities in Korea, Seoul National University, Korea University, and Yonsei University. It’s always a parents’ goal to get their kind into one of those three schools, and the show Sky castle is completely based on the struggles of students getting into to notch colleges.
Anyway, just a fun fact for anyone who doesn’t know!
yea South Korea has one of the highest suicide rates because of the pressure of school. Most schools there go much later than schools where I live. They'll go to like 8 or 10 at night or even later.
gguk i think it’s because they have like 4-6 hours of self study after school and then they go home and do their homework and get to bed around 1-3 in the morning, sometimes later, then have to wake up at like 6-7. I have some friends in korea and they’re literally up all night and I feel so bad for them, their lives are dedicated to studying.

When they say "In Seoul to the SKY" they are talking about the most prestigious universities in South Korea. SKY is an acronym for Seoul National University, Korea University and Yonsei University. It is really difficult to get into any of those but since the university you go to is really imoportant in South Korea and is said to determine your life path there is a huge pressure on studentts to get in one of the SKY universities.

Fact: SUGA actually dropped out of school and left his home and parents who didn’t support his dream to follow his dreams of being a producer/write songs/rapper
He left his home to go to Seoul but he was still in college (he often calls himself Liberal Arts major) when he's got on his delivery bike accident. According to what he said, once he came forward about his shoulder BigHit offered to pay for his tuition so he wouldn't need to work anymore. So if he left college it was after debut.

This song is about Korea's strict education system. Imagine a life like going to school at 8 am and back home at 11 pm. Students MUST study like this. Even after classes end, they are continueing to study at the library bc it is the schools rule. Students have no life. Through your whole school life (1st grade to university) you live like this.
TMI: This is the main reason why Korea is good at technology and gaming and they always invent new things. Because students are always at home, studying and not going anywhere. So they become a pro in video games in home in their free times(about 2 hours a day). Same goes for technology. Most of the applications used in Korea are made by university studentst, for example like the latest COVID-19 map application.
They want everything to be quick and practical so they always invent things to make their life easier (like instant noodles to eat fast, tons of instant food in markets, capsule hotels to not waste time on going back home -so they go to a capsule hotel to sleep a couple of hours and they go back to work etc.)
These people only study while they are young and only work when they graduate. Basically no life. (plus, 2 years military service is a must. So basically Koreans get married at the age of 30-35 bc they don't trust themselves financially. They want to set up everything and when they finally do, it's usually when they are 30-35).

Never before have I connected so much with an artist no less a whole ass group. I literally feel like they’re my vitamin that gives me energy when I feel down. Their music is literally another home for me and their vlives, run episodes, non voyage etc. They are truly beautiful humans. Edit: Somehow Suga looks like a hip grandma in the NO mv. This song seems like a really cool song but imagine if you were a teenager who has been struggling with school and unable to pursue your dreams. This is the song that would lift them up and give them hope and courage. It's much more than a cool song. Same thing with Tomorrow. One of my favs cuz of the message.

This is the song that really got me into BTS. I remember when it first came out a lot of people called them nobodies and mocked them, but this performance and song content was pretty revolutionary at the time. I didn't even stan them because of their looks, I was simply amazed by them as a group. This song is really nostalgic for me ahhhhh~~~~~! I watched that dance breakdown a thousand times over. You should really react to a live version of this, it's a treat! At the end, the "storm troopers" were trying to arrest/contain all the members (they had all of BTS except Jimin on their knees with their hands behind their backs) and then when the storm troopers went for Jimin (the only "loose" one) the members surrounded Jimin and launched him up and then Jimin knocked them all out.

It's not that deep. 17:35 they weren’t dancing with them lol they were attacking them to capture them and put them back into the oppressive place they broke out of.. the dance shows them kicking both sides pushing the attackers back... but they’re able to grab them all, handcuff them and drop them back to their knees... jimin stayed back so that when his brothers needed him he came through swinging... making sure to keep them away from the system , the people that were trying to capture them ... to show that it’s not impossible to follow your own path especially when you have support of others like you !!!
