@@arjunsguitar when I was hospitalized due to a siezures disorder I developed I was on sone kind of experimental drug the doctors said FUNNY THING is all I could hear other than the doctor was the last 20 seconds of free bird loud on repeat i my head because of the drugs...I never did anything but weed I was like what the heck I'm basically tripping rn I guess and and hear free bird solo with the badass big drum part last 20 seconds and led zeppelin black dog guitar riff over n over n over for like 3 days ..everytime I'd wake up I'd like can u guys turn up that radio..I hear Skynyrd n led zeppelin and the eagles a lil ..I'm like c'mon guys I can hear it ..u can't hear that for real ??? I was not getting it for awhile 😂😂😂😂

The best he can do is get out there and build a fanbase and play with the big boys like say Bonamassa just to name one. Once upon a time radio actually played this sort of stuff and guys like this young fella could fill stadiums. Today ONLY if you are 'beautiful', young and ONLY do what SONY tells you you might get somewhere.

Well done my friend...I had tickets to see Lynyrd Skynyrd back in the mid seventies ( opening act Ted Nugent ) when Artimus Pyle got his arm broken in a bar fight and they had to cancel ( Louisville Kentucky ) . Later that year the fateful plane crash happened and that show never happened . Thanks for honoring their memory . PK
That sounds like it would have been such an awesome show! It's really tragic what happened to them, they were such an awesome group. Having the chance to play this live in front of a crowd is the least I could do to honor them! 😁

I don't know if you have or ever recorded yourself but that will absolutely show you anything you like or not. Thanks! If I'm recalling correctly, two guitarists played the solo. I took my favorite parts from each one and combined them into one super solo. Definitely a lot of fun to learn! :)
How did you learn this? By ear... A teacher.... reading the music.... a youtube breakdown????? Obviously practice practice practice. But you have to practice correctly or you're just going to get very good at playing it wrong. Where/how did you do what guys haven't been able to do for 50 years.... BTW.... I live two blocks from their highschool..... Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville Fl. Nice work. Also.... I read a negative comment about the drummer and saw your reply that it's your dad. I thought he ROCKED before I knew it was your dad.... He must play wth a smile as big as the moon with you up front.....
I mainly learned this one by ear but used tabs in a few sections. The later parts are a bit of improv mixed in with the original. Initially, I didn't play this one that well but over time I moved on and learned a few solos deemed more challenging than this one. When I revisited this solo, it was a lot easier than I remembered though I had to unlearn a bunch of bad habits I developed when I first started learning the solo. Man, living two blocks from their high school is so cool! I absolutely love playing with my dad and honestly we did this show more to develop an awesome memory that we'll both cherish forever rather than impressing the crowd. It was an awesome evening and both of us had a blast! :)

Just, year after year tours, albums, tours, albums and they never quit..... The Beatles could have but quit. Same for Elvis and Michael Jackson. The Eagles, V.H., Skynyrd, Phish, etc.... are arena acts..... The Stones said you have to be TUFF TUFF TUFF TUUUUFFFF ! ! ! To do what you have done takes practice practice practice..... and being tuff tuff tuff tuff. I can only relate a little as I was a nearly professional surfer, surfing the North Shore of Hawaii for years bumping elbows with the best pros and amateurs in the world on the biggest proving ground on the planet.... and I never came CLOSE to the the level of professional. Amateurs???? I felt like I was as good as any. Pros??? There's a gigantic gap between professional and amateurs that GREAT amateurs can not cross. I hope you cross that gap. To the musical ZERO like myself??? You look like you already have. My whole life..... If there was a live band playing in Jacksonville, some drunk was in the back yelling "FREE BIRD ! ! !".
