    No need of yeast or baking powder or bread,just make the batter with 1:2 ratio that is one cup urad dal and 2 cups of rice with one small teaspoon of methi and see how naturally it ferments and taste is really natural. Please try and comment, fermentation must be minimum 10 hours either day or night

    Hello Mam, I tried your given receipe, and it becomes soft and tasty, but one thing idli colour becomes light cream in colour instead of white in colour, please suggest for white in colour, thanks!

    Nice tips ,mam. Agar hum oven me yaa fir aate ke dibbe me nahi rakhna chahte to beter ko garm pani ke bade patele me bhi dhakkr rakh sakte hei,accha result aata hei, mein ase hi karti hu

    A Fact I know about fermention...If the batter is stored in container on wooden base n direct contact with floor/marble is avoided,it helps in good fermentation

    A south Indian would faint at the bread n baking soda/ powder tips..always mix idli batter with hand..maintain temperature between 37-40 deg cel for perfect fermentation..

      In north India temp is not always between 37 - 49 degree Celsius. This method will help in winters.

    By just putting one slice of bread, I could get a perfect khameer in just 5 hrs when the utensil with the batter was placed in another large steel dabba. I was thrilled to see the perfect batter in such low temperature of 7 degrees. I'm a lover of South Indian fóod but had to give up on it in winters...but now we can relish it's taste even in severely harsh cold season by this simple tip. Not only that the batter had risen considerably, but had also acquired the reasonable amount of sourness as well to get that great taste

    I came here just to confirm if sunlight trick works. I have tried sunlight trick in monsoon season, it worked at that time. But now in winter season, i was anxious if that trick will work 😀
