Are Electric Cars The Future?
Should I Buy an EV?
Are Electric Vehicles The Future?
Can I Tow a Trailer or Caravan With an Electric Car?
Is The EV Infrastructure Ready?
If you are asking yourself any of these questions then I suggest you watch my journey from Wales to England in my All Electric Porsche Taycan. You'll clearly see how the Infrastructure is not ready and even if it was the amount of time taking to charge the batteries in your EV is simply not viable.
If we all buy Electric Cars then it will simply restrict Human Freedom of Movement.
However this is only my experience owning an EV. You may already own and Electric Car and it may or may not work for you. Have your say in the comments below. The BIG Question is, are we ready for an All Electric Future and is the battery technology way behind the cars themselves? Will 2030 in the UK and 2035 in the USA be the end for Petrol and Diesel Cars? Will we be laying to rest The Internal Combustion Engine? One things for sure... Only time will tell!

Well of course it is social engineering at its best, restrict the movement of the poor, keep them in their sink estates just like the Duke of wellington said about the Railways, he said I am against them as it encourages the Lower Orders to Circulate, funny how nothing changes after two hundred years.
I couldn’t bear all that hanging around, I’d set fire to the bleedin’ car, walk home and buy a proper motor.
Seems every trip in an electric car is just from one charger to another rather than to a set destination .
This is insane, the time wasted on range anxiety, charging, spending extra £££ on coffee, meals and donuts you didn’t want, for your tired and tetchy kids and irritated wife, it’s utter madness…
As a combustion engine owner I love these video’s 😂
It's simple. Unless the batteries get to a technological point where you can charge in the same time it takes to fill a petrol car, then electronic cars are not a replacement for fuel driven cars.
Or enough places to charge. What's the point in eventually finding a charger and having to wait or find out they are out of order? It makes no sense. I honestly feel sorry for people with EVs *not hybrids.
@@dancooper2072 it's not the amount of chargers, it's the amount of time it takes to charge.
Personally I can’t get enough of the EV bashing videos. You’re doing a service to the people who might otherwise be caught in the expensive trap. I’m minded to nominate you for an honour. I’ll try for a knighthood, and they might settle on an OBE. But I wouldn’t hold your breath.
You haven't let the viewers down because MOST of us know how crap electric cars are be lucky 😊
Got fed up with my EV so changed it for a Hybrid 👍👍
I suspect that governments have been subsidising EV adverts.
I have a client with a Tesla..he rents a petrol car when long journeys are required.
what is your client's name
The weekend before last, I drove from my home in Liverpool to Kent to help my elderly parents 260 miles each way. On the Monday, I drove the round trip from Liverpool to near Derby to visit a customer. About 110 miles each way. Then on the Tuesday drove to Swansea. Distance 190 miles. Stayed until Friday and returned home. On the Saturday, we drove to the Cairngorms in North East Scotland. about 400 miles. Stayed until yesterday (Wednesday) when we returned home. With short journeys in the Cairngorms, that was well over 2000 miles in 12 days. Fortunately, I have a petrol car with over 500 miles range. Just imagine if I had an electric car!
In my view at this moment in time an EV is only good enough for the milk run, by that im'e referring to the milk floats that have been running for years. The one that came to our neck of the woods did a 30 mile round trip from its depot ,15 miles away. So yes EV's will become the norm but not until the infrastructure is put into place. Typical government thinking, cak handed thinking.I remember when Lord Stokes was head of BMC motors, he like the boss of mine was aloof to the man in the oily overalls, who could just manage a curt grunt of morning, this was when Japanese started getting a foothold in Britain and I remember reading an article that said that their management sat at the same tables as the men in oily overalls because thats how they found out the problems that needed fixing.
@Wooly Chewbakker and how much of your life have you wasted sitting at charge points time is money
@Wooly Chewbakker that maybe true for you but certainly isn't for Lee
@Wooly Chewbakker I wouldn't have one if it was given
I think you have it correct. The "Elitists" running our countries care less what we think or where we have to go, as long as it doesn't inconvenience them in any way, shape, or form.
EV’s are not the future because there isn’t enough lithium to replace all cars alone.
Might be sensible to carry a couple of gallons of electricity in the boot just to top you up next time.
What if theres a power cut overnight where you live and you wake up to a non charged or partly charged vehicle and you need to get to work ? The power was off overnight where i live just a few weeks ago.No-one seems to be talking about this.
Brrrr brrrr, brrrr brrrr. Ello boss, can't make it in today there's not enough charge on my EV as there was a power cut last night. That's OK I'll take it out of your annual leave.
Don't be surprised with the energy shortage that you will get a congestion charge when charging at the wrong moment when there is an electricity shortage.
We were told that 50 years ago by the worlds first EV manufacturer!
Watching this video has convinced me that home charging and local journeys are currently the only practical use for electric vehicles.
Yes that is it and for me those journeys I can walk or use a push bike making owning an ev not worth it. I just hope people don't buy them to promote the change over in 2030.
I work as a field service engineer and having an electric van would be a disaster, it's just not cricket arry.
Can you imagine the utter carnage out there when there are a reasonable percentage of electric cars on our roads. 😂
I'm imagining the layers of melt down, starting with widespread grid failure, not enough staff or materials on hand to fix it, all transport grinds to a clean yet silent stop, all digital based transactions halt, all phones display 'no service', communications go offline, and no heating, cooking, lighting or internet, or social media.
I'll give it ten minutes before suicides start happening.
I just buy my self a diesel car with 4w drive automatic. A Skoda Karoc. On full tank, it is having a range of about 1000Km's. Use 5 minutes to fill it up, an it is going a 1000Km more!!! BEAUTIFUL! 🙂
So well over 20 hours driving with a five minute stop?
How very normal.
Tesla,s give me the feeling of emptiness, you get in and it just seems totally empty and missing its soul. It has no feel to it.
I thought the idea of owning a car was to give you your freedom to go where you like when you like not having to plan where the next charging point is.
You should do a video on the potential rolling blackouts as warned by the national grid this winter….ev users could be screwed
EV owners are screwed they’ll be all off the road soon with stress and mental health issues 🤦♂️
@@robthompson819 And this would make you a others very happy no doubt... No need to speculate on this front...some mental health issues indeed.
Loved the video Lee and I agree it's stressful owning one I know people who own electric cars and they regret buying them
Absolutely love how you are trying to wake the EVangelists and people in general up! Brilliant video and always amazing music - what inspires you with the music choice?
Whether it is by accident or design, EVs certainly have the result of restricting movement. Your vlogs demonstrate that absolutely!!!
No it doesn’t it demonstrates poor use of a car. Be like stopping at a motorway service station with half a tank just incase. Plus part 1 and 2 could have been done in a day.
@@djgoode we’ve been sold false information by the government’ shouldn’t have to plan this and plan that
I 100% agree with you. Electric cars are a tiny piece of the great reset jigsaw. Limited freedom of movement and state control. Ohhhh I'm such a conspiracy theorist....until it's not. Time will tell, by then it's too late
Spot on Claire. It's like watching the launch of the sinclair c5 all over again
Ohhhh your not! people are waking up tho slowly! ua-cam.com/video/-2XWFW2K7Tg/v-deo.html at 1min 19sec he's telling him how it is.🙂
You’re my savior, almost bought Tesla M3 to replace my 1yr old spacious, gas guzzling Honda CRV. We’d be short 20k knowing that we’ll never break even with Tesla unless we travel to moon and back!
Transporting 2 young toddlers are eventful already, can’t imagine what range anxiety will do to me with crying babies 😂
Saviour
On your trip lee you stopped at 3 to 4 filling stations . If you add up how many cars stopped in them on one day . But was for electric and they all stayed for 1 hour you would need thousands of stations to charge up
Yet didn’t need to stop was filling at more than half full
EV'S are basically milk floats with a "car like" body on them. Great as a local delivery vehicle, but otherwise, pretty pathetic.
have you ever seen an electric train...
The only EV that can be really considered to be reliable was the Milk Float. 😁
But milk floats caused population increase! 🤣
I am sick of watching other channels that claim EVs are still cheaper to run than petrol. they never factor in the cost of the car. for example, a new Corsa petrol is £254 deposit, And £244 per month. the Çorsa E is £5000 deposit and £335 per month. that needs to be factored into the pence per mile running cost over three years and 30k miles
It would take years to offset the extra cost of an electric car through fuel savings. They're just not worth it.
I'm not a fan of EVs but a cheap one, when the bottom drops out of them, is ideal for old dudes to shop and go to the Beach whilst hanging on to 4ltr straight 6 Grand Cherokee
My mate had a EV....... His wife didn't see him for 2 days.....he only popped out for a pint of milk! Fact. 👍
hey lee this is your audience....
These cars will stop being “software supported” like an iPhone after bout 5-6 years. That will force you to get a new one forever. They won’t let you charge cause the software isn’t compatible.
EV's are taking us back to the Days of Horse and Cart Travel.
It isnt the future. Its the past. And it isnt suppose to work.
I find that amazing that he picked up his new car and it was not fully charged.
One of my golfing buddies had the same experience with his new Tesla.
Very short sighted of the supplying dealer destroying the customers perception of electric travel on day 1 .
Amen brother, you’re absolutely right, EVs are NOT the future, stay safe my friend
I'm no Engineer, however, there is no way of getting rid of the internal combustion petrol engine at this time.
I would post my thoughts on this topic but as I've discovered, You Tube is removing comments on this subject that are 'off message'. We really are being controlled, censored and coerced on a number of topics, this being one of them.
And UA-cam only display the Thumbs Up figures, Censor the negative.
I am totally wound up and stressed watching this. For goodness sake Lee, you have proved your point without doubt. Now get yourself a new car that is NOT electric before you have a heart attack. x
Just sell it and get a proper car....
Teslas ride hard and noisy.
@@trevorsmith7753 he meant a proper car, not a Tesla.
The only good ev is a rc car and just imagine electric truck's and buses a disaster waiting to happen like the police car's. Not so smart
Proper car mean V8’at least!
Don’t get an EV.
Thank god I sold my Mustang EV and purchased a petrol vehicle. Just traveled to Scotland and back so much more relaxing than driving a EV trolley, five minutes filling and continuing my journey. The same trip with a EV would have added at least two hours each way.
Your Porsche does look better then the tesla
One word only:- KERFUFFLE
Time for a Diesel Merc
EVs are a crock of s**t - they are just not practical - it is all about eventual full control!
EV around town runabout they’re great .Motorway distance on the current UK charging network they’re issues.TBA.Very hopefull
Agree, you can't really plan ahead (or go exactly where you preferably want to go) because the charging stations completely dictate your journeys at present, but I appreciate you giving me the insight into what life is really like owning EV, really enjoyed the Vlog, thanks
@Wooly Chewbakker you only need to look at the ev network in Wales to realise you can't take the true scenic routes (b roads) without having to detour and sit around charging at somewhere outside you ideal route, then that would rely on the charging point not being taken which as there are soo few it's likely they are going to be used, if you really want me to make a route then I will happily, set the vehicle range ( affordable 5 seater family ev car) and I will make you a route that will have no charging stations
I love watching these electric car videos
Because you're not sponsored "by anybody
You then tell it , as it is
The best thing Porsche could do with the Toycan is stick a 4.0L flat six in the front.
No covers over any electric charging points...water and electricity...hmmm
Restricting movement for sure. When things go cashless they can monitor every transaction too. This is a Chinese style SCS being ushered in, make no mistake.
The CCP are monitoring my Chinese made MG5 EV estate. So far they have a comprehensive of every Aldi ,Lidl,Brothel,Dogging Spot and drive through McDonalds in south London
Electric cars, smart phones, CBDC’s. It’s great to see that some of us are awake.
@@user-rc1ke1ef3t Always been monitoring us it’s called Crimestoppers.
Lee get rid of it and buy a proper car!!
One day someone will invent a car which you could fill with some magic liquid and you could drive for 12 hours/600 miles solid without having to stop and replenish. Yeah I know it's crazy.
You’re response is brilliant ❤️😜😂😂😂🤣🤣 freaking still has me laughing about it 45 minutes later so I came to comment!😂😂
I was thinking the same, there must be a liquid that you could burn to make something turn and we could harness that movement and use it in an EV,any thoughts out there 🤔
Cracking video today Matey. As I wait for my new BMW i4 to arrive next week..... What have I done!!!
Tesla is a software company that happens to build cars.
Build quality of Tesla is atrotious
And space rockets 🤷♂️
I’ve been enjoying your trials and tribulations with your EV.
Until recently I was working in a Porsche main dealer and know the Taycan very well.
The Porsche sat navs are amongst the worst I’ve ever used. I’m convinced it’s the Germans having a laugh at our expense by making their sat navs send us down some horrible narrow lanes in a wide car.
I now work at a KIA main dealer and drive the new KIA EV6, and the sat nav is so much better in the routes it calculates.
Klaus will see that we will own nothing but we'll be happy.
Hmm without proper electrical generation these are mere statues of stupidity 🤔
I fill in my CL500 in Luxembourg with a full tank and 90 lites LPG and make it all the way to Bologna, without stopping, try that Tesla.
I bet you can't do that trip without stopping at lest once, most likely two or three times, a good EV can with just one charging stop. my car with a 41 litre petrol tank would do it easily without a refueling stop.
Have you noticed that none of the chargers have any rain shelters - whereas nearly all the petrol/deisel garages do....
Yes because your standing there for 10 mins filling the damn thing we plug and go get coffee or anything else we want to do
Couldn't help but feel sorry for the bloke that just picked up his new EV. I bet all his new car excitement was drained from him by the time he got home just like the batteries on his car.
Well said Mc Master EV's are a fools paradise.
First rule of HOTEL accommodation, only stay at one with EV charging!
Pack a long extension cord that will reach from the window.
Electric cars should come with a built in defibrillator. They are stress mobiles and raise your blood pressure constantly. Particularly bad news of you've had the clot shots.
The Tesla dashboard is similar to a mobile phone, just a plain board with a screen, so if using a screen which is basically a mobile phone does that not make it illegal to use whilst driving., because you do have to touch screen to get your info, just like a mobile iphone, which is illegal to use whilst driving.. A topsy turvy world we are living in. DO NOT BUY AN ELECTRIC CAR end of. they are just a waste of time and money.
Have you ever thought of adding up all the hours spent away from home charging your car, per month, per year and ask yourself if you were on minimum wage, how much it would be costing you to charge your car on this time spent
Heard on the telly ( can't remember what programme it was) that a new battery for an EV will cost you £45.000! Only for the rich or a Tory! Lol. 👍
I've heard they're more like £90,000, no evidence for this mind. Even worse, they have to replaced annually or they catch fire.
I was watching Sky news Australia and they were talking about EV's and the motoring journalist they had on the show was asked that question and his answer was £47.000 Australia dollars. Even the news reader said that would just write off the car.
@@David-bl1bt They must have been telling fibs then, or trying to scaremonger us!
@@bentullett6068 Yes that was it, Sky Australia. 👍
@@David-bl1bt I've just looked it up. 500,000 miles it should run and Tesla are looking to improve to one million miles!👍
Hi Lee. You haven't let anyone down! It's the EV which lets you down. And your kids are most important. Enjoy being back with them. 🥰🌞🥰Xxx
Why aren't the chargers in the petrol stations? And under cover. If its soo the future .
Take back control, STOP EV, Town use only make sense
a complete breakown of costs, time waiting and extras like all these coffees you have whilst waiting
Yes I agree what you are saying. If you are doing constant long trips or just one long trip, almost have to plan every time where the charging stations are to continue on your journeys - plus take in account the time to do the charges. Also take in the unexpected account of coming across obstacles, heavy traffic, road constructions during the trip.
That is what really delays/eats into having an EV, is the charging wait times vs pulling into a gas station (1 hour vs 5 min). Next is finding a working charging station that works for the EV you have. Lastly figuring out how far you can go on what the EV is indicating in the display. Seems to be kind of a nuisance to me to do simple Road Trips.
Gas Cars are so much simpler, fill up the tank and go. There are much more gas stations and they all work the same, and usually not broken.
So why get an EV car??? Is it really a convenience?? No. Don't sound like it to me if you are a trip/traveler or have to drive long distances to work every day. And if you are not in any hurry to meet someone. As more EV cars get on the road, the worse it will be to get your car charged up in any short period of time. just not enough charging stations.
I agree, Tesla cars are too minimal to me inside the car. Like you said, one big display and nothing else to look at inside the car. it is just a big mobile phone on wheels. i dont like them and we pay how much for them??? Ridiculous. I guess I am old hat and want something that looks like a car interior. Elon Musk can keep these cars.
Hmmmm!!! Idle Fees???? what the heck is that. learn something new each video.
I don't own an EV but learning allot from all these You Tube videos.
Good luck with your EV. Take Care.
Having a Costa. They cost (a) fortune too.😂😂😂😂
I always say Costa packet!
They have been threatening power cuts , then what happens . Your not going anywhere
I was interested that the video talks about "human freedom of movement" and indicates that electric vehicles won't (as yet) be able to match the capabilities of petrol driven ones. As far as the former goes, I have to say that there are plenty of humans in the UK whose "freedom of movement" is already pretty limited. If you are old, ill or just poor, and you live outside a big city, you find that the local bus services are usually limited, train fares and the complex pricing structures used make the railway way too expensive, and the National Express has taken off many of the services serving country towns, even large ones like Bury St Edmunds where I live. As a pensioner my ability to travel anywhere outside my locality is severely limited. OK, an electric car may not be as good as a petrol one, but just be grateful that you can afford to run either at the moment! Any kind of car is better than none at all.
How long has it taken ppl to wake the hell up????? And don't take anymore poison arrows ffs!! ☠
Free with every EV….an extra 8 hours in every day.
Don't think trips will be much fun for a family of 4.
I have just ordered a nice diesel 3008 GT Premium that does just over 500 miles on a tank with everything switched on. I am going to Lancashire at the end of the month and its 265 miles each way, so just one stop on the way back. Just watching the last 10 mins of this video makes me convinced i have done the right thing

Why should you have to plan a journey? In any case, electricity is generated by gas, coal and oil, so how is that green?
Electricity is green as long as it doesn't come from wind farms that polute the environment and are ugly likewise solar panels. Oil comes from nature as does gas, natural products. Fight green fascism.
Its because the end of the world is coming apparently so we all have to start using lithium batteries like they are going out of fashion.
@@DavidWilliams-qs6lz oh dear, surely you relise when you use gas oil coal it is gone..
You've done your bit for the environment by thoroughly road testing EV..it's clearly a nonsense, so time to change back.
It seems to me that the EV companies deliberately want to discourage long touring because that constitutes using excess amounts of energy?.
I'm all for going green, but this just seems so impractical.
I enjoyed the journey even though your stress levels were palpable!.
Love your content my friend, you are very informative about everything you vlog about. God I love those rims on your Porsche Taycan!!
Nice wheels eh :0)

No way could i cope/hack having to stop to get the EV charged. It takes you three times as long getting anywhere. I'd be well pissed off to say the least.
I realised we was always ment to have these cars. Any futuristic movie or cartoon was about electric cars. Nothing to do with climate change..
Wonder when we will acknowledge that Electric cars are the Smart Motorway, or HS2, a bad idea
Didn't Fred Flinstone drive an EV.
It would be nice to see a journey done in an EV with one occupant, then repeated with three people and some luggage to see how the range is affected.
It would be FANTASTIC to see them towing a caravan 😅🤣😂
Great video, Lee. I love your travel videos. You do make me laugh! ❤️🇬🇧
EV's restrict your movement - but so does the scandalous price of wet fuel! - - - Steve Wright - couldn't stand him!! I'd much prefer Terry Wogan or Jimmy Young! (yes, I know they are no longer on this earth!)
Wogan and Jimmy Young!!! Legends!!!
I think the elephant in the room here is, what do the government plan to do with all the dead batteries we'll be sitting on in the future 🤔
recycle
I don't own a EV but I anticipated everything that caused your delays. One feature that Tesla promotes is you can watch a Netflix movie on their screen while you are charging. Imagine you are late for work and you got 2 cars ahead of you charging. Just relax and watch a movie.😂😂😂 I figure I will give it 10 or 20 years before I buy one, if they got the bugs ironed out.
I think for someone who is literally travelling up, down and across the country, an electric car isn’t for you, not least until the fast charging network is expanded and battery range improved but for local travel and travel in built up urban areas they make perfect sense from an environmental perspective. I see chargers are now being installed in street lamps and bollards to help those in cities without driveways so the network is being improved, if not James May style (Captain Slow).
The police can't even use them as police cars. They weren't reliable enough with range.
What a rigmarole to get from A to B....You deserve a medal for shining a light on the downfalls of driving an EV...So glad I stuck with a humble combustion engines car.
More like a vid buy someone with poor timekeeping work ethic and can’t be arsed to get on with life
