Nice to hear a welder kind of guy, doing mechanical tasks... Awesome !!! I am a welder myself and I enjoy seeing people doing different things... Congrats in your video,.
Straight, simple, and to the point, I wish every instructional video could be like this. Good editing and lighting, you can clearly understand the steps needed to complete this job in its entirety.
That's a good call replacing them as he likely would end up having an issue with them. And cleaning them up can be a real challenge. Superb work Will thank you for sharing with us.
Good thing to replace the calipers on these, probably 95% of the one's I do the lower inner piston is seized. I'm actually trying to remember when the last one I did that wasn't seized. When we get these in on trade, and they have anywhere near 20K miles on them and are going to be a certified vehicle they typically get priced assuming they need tires and brakes. Very hard on both.
Thank you for the video, I'm going to have to do this on my truck next week. One of the pistons is seized. Replaced the rotors and pads yesterday but couldn't get a new pad on the backside because the piston is frozen in place extended out.
Wow, those calipers were crusty. Good idea on using the vacuum pump reservoir while bleeding the brakes via the two person method. It is not only less messy, you also avoid the possibility of air getting back into the system through the bleeder because the end of the hose is submerged in fluid.
Thanks 🙏 for sharing! Currently doing my 2004 Toyota Sequoia SR5, first time! Not sure 🤔 if the calipers are bad but I’m changing them anyways, already changed the booster but I was still having problem when breaking hard, like something feel stuck and jerk and loud when holding down the break paddle and that’s why I’m changing those calipers (fronts) your video made it look easy and it is, hopefully this would fix the problem.
It actually seems relatively easy to do. I've never done this before. When bleeding the brakes, and you are saying pump and hold, I presume she is just stepping on the brake pedal?
I'm surprised those wire retaining clips are so small, they must be stainless to prevent rust. Is there any special procedure you need to do to be sure the ABS component doesn't trap an air bubble?
I have a Toyota Tacoma 2006 and once in a while it gets stuck and doesn't want to move forward or backwards. It's like the breaks are stuck, I checked my transmission and breaks and no problems. Would you say my caliperd need to be changed
PSK PERFORMANCE Toyota came a long way, wouldn't mind owning one however Eric ruined that idea 😉i would be called the biggest follower on UA-cam lol thanks for stopping by Mike
Mario Chavez hahaha i believe your right!! I was actualy jocking with Eric on this day and said thanks for sending me your truck lol the crickets made me think of this as well 😂 that was good thanks for the laugh
ok if i replace just the front two calipers, i should then bleed those 2 only right? the bleeding for all 4 was because he wanted a whole new set on all 4? would you bother to replace the rubber hose that connects to the brake hard line you removed in the beginning of video or if it doesnt appear worn out is it still good to go?
Hey there! Yup, bleed the front two calipers only. as long as the reservoir did not go empty you should be ok. If the rubber hose is in good shape, no need to replace it. Happy fixing!
Unfortunately,he doesn't tell you,you must have the techstream software to bleed the abs system, which keeps you from properly bleeding the brake system on these tundra's.
The dealer scan tool wasn’t needed to bleed my 2014 or my 2002. Now, if you get air in the abs unit, that will require a more substantial bleed process using a full featured scan tool. For calipers though, basic Brake pedal work and bleed screw sequence is the same as any other car.
@@pawswet9476 no sir, if you're changing calipers and changing pads or changing l brake lines, the old fluid needs to be changed or flushed out, at least every other service, and I'm not going to get into moisture and contamination and the breakdown of all the internal components over time, but if you do it properly the ABS system has to be flushed at the same time and you need to texh stream software to do that. If you're just doing a swap out, half-ass service then no you don't need the software.
My goodness, I've never seen calipers so rusted. Yeah, those guys keep bugging me too. They can be real pests. (ha ha) I was expecting D6spanky to be here in the comments. Maybe I just got here first. :)
wyattoneable crazy right! Was flaking a Few layers deep😳 hahaha good times~ I hope she dose stop by. What I found is some of my subs don't get notifications 😔 I been told
same here on no mo notifications. I went back and saw i didn't click the bell. Got it now ;) Liked your videos but I cant tell if you got bad audio or your mumbling too softly. ;) - sure would of top notch if your customer let you replace the old brake lines, bleeder valve and caliper bracket bolts. - 3M makes a really neat tool to go over the wheel studs and clean the rust back to shinny new. 3M 07547 Scotch-Brite Roloc Brake Hub Cleaning Disc Kit $26.00 .. www.amazon.com/dp/B0013HHNPY/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I3IE9M8057UQYH&colid=3QVCSON7Y0RN9 NAPA has replacement discs but ammazon is a little cheaper. - not too sure if sandblasting the bolts or wire wheeling them would take off the bolt coatings or they are even worth cleaning with the labor time. Probably only top quality Grade 5 cad plated bolts would be all that's needed. Replacing all that stuff is what ... only $10 per wheel with labor? - I know - i know don't toss at wrench at me... "we don't need to fricken replace bolts every time we do something". I hear ya loud n clear... but really isn't it better? Happy customer sees "all new parts" for all of those benjamins he's tossing your way and he tells ten people and 4 new customer comes to you for new work. Wally G. Yes thanks for asking, I’m sorry for the delay and will do my best to make this up to everyone, had a few minor setbacks. I will edit a video for Sunday 👍
rlsukovaty thanks for the interest, yes I plan on getting back on that soon as things settle in here at the shop, it's still on the stand just as we left it
I only understand some of your language rotors don't you mean discs lol but there is a lot of language I do understand in your video😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉 the crickets have absolutely perfect timing if you know what I mean😉😉😉 Your phone in the background I think I know the guy you are talking to he is really good looking and awesome🤣🤣🤣🤣
bodgit and leggit garage I never thought of that mate 🤔 guess I should start using more neutral names lol then everyone here in the states will say: you mean Rotors don't call them discs hahaha well we sure don't call them Rotor brakes 😂😂 however we refer to them as rotors. I still don't get why we drive on the park way? And we park in the driveway? 🤔 yes them crickets they sure were happy that day. And for that guy blowing up my phone well that's a whole other topic on it's own. Poor fella 😂
I like to gravity bleed while finishing the work, then bleed normally. saves pedal pumping overall and much less work doing it one man with a pedal holder :)
throttle bottle, gravity bleeding is my best friend on lonely days 👍 yes I agree it saves a ton! I should have shown the rears dripping while we worked the front. Thanks for bringing this up
I didn’t read all the comments, but the wire retainer you almost forgot should have one on top also. I know the one you took off only had one. I have done several tundra brakes and two of those retainers should be in the box
Man, that's got to be the cheesiest caliper retaining system I've ever seen. I would hazard a guess and say the spring clips are stainless, yes? Thanks for the video.
Nice to hear a welder kind of guy, doing mechanical tasks... Awesome !!!

Congrats in your video,.
Thanks 👍
Adding a second spring assembly on the upper pin is always a good idea.
I did mine today and installed a spring assembly on the upper pin. Made sense to me.

Excellent video!!! This video and a Saturday saved me $1000 dollars!!!👍👍👍 which allowed me to take my wife and kids out for dinner 👍👍👍👍Thanks!!!!
From crusty to bling. New brakes always look good. Nice work 👍
Badgertronix they sure do 👍🤳 B E A utiful

Robinson's Auto Diagnostics I'm sure glad he went this route, saves time and money in the long run in this case, your welcome anytime bud
Nice job Will. Smart customer replacing his calipers & brake jobs always look so much better with new components!
Hayward's Automotive thank you, I agree and it makes our job much more enjoyable
It's not often you get a gravy job there Will. Quality job.
wysetech2000 easy peasy lemon squeezy ☝️👍 crazy part is I could potentially make more just doing gravy. Thank you

Great video, Thanks! I have a 2010 which the driver side is seized. I believe they're exactly the same so this helped huge! Thanks again

Bill K thank you for the kind feedback, all is well for the most part. Thanks again
What brakes did you use to replace
Just Like Professionals. Thanks Boro
caliper grease on the top and bottom edge of the pad backing plate where they slide into the caliper is not a bad idea either.
Great work Will
Richard Gill thank you for the compliment

How did he not get brake fluid everywhere when he pulled that brake line.
Necessary to bleed all 4 with 1 caliper replaced on passenger rear?
Thank you for the video, i'm about to go change mine.
Can we see what the calipers look like inside when you break them apart? I just want to know if there was an o ring inside? Cuz I think I lost mine
You put the metal indicator on the inside, does not go on the outside??
Best video I’ve seen so far
Good Job WILL
steve ragusa thank you!
That brake line looked pretty sketchy...amazing such a thin line can operate such a big caliper!
Chris Freemesser I agree bud she is scheduled back in soon for all new brake lines
Thank you! You make it look so easy ! :)
Looks like Eric O. donated a couple of his crickets to you man!!😆
Mario Chavez hahaha i believe your right!! I was actualy jocking with Eric on this day and said thanks for sending me your truck lol the crickets made me think of this as well 😂 that was good thanks for the laugh
Great video thanks for making.
What would you use to sand those new calibers to paint them. Can you use a wire brush Rotary tool?
Great job there Will, sure was some technical language in there 😂😂😂😜✅ Full marks mate 👍
One Auto, Thank you Rob, glad you stopped by. lol 😂with others like you watching I gotta keep it technical
Yes the vagina boobies are expensive parts! 😁
Need to include links to the new caliper. I'd put those on my truck
Thanks for sharing! Great video👍

Did you forget the torque wrench ?
I broke my rusty brake line. Having hard time finding part online. Any help? Thanks

Awesome video. Are there supposed to be lock washers on the 2 large bolts that hold the caliper in place? My Tundra didn't have any. Thanks, Tawn
