Thee absolute best Tundra Brake Pad change on UA-cam !!! Clear video and audio, well visualized and clean and clear audio well explained sequence of progression for replacement repair. Thank You Dan !!! You R De Repair Man !!!
Replace rotors, a few months go by, wobble wobble shake shake, rinse and repeat. I've gotten proficient at this job over the years, even when I drive the tundra gently. Great truck, except for the brakes. Oh, I didn't mention the rear drum troubles yet...
I've done several brake jobs on more traditional disc brakes. It surprised me a bit that nobody else was using any lube in other videos describing how to change out these Tundra ones. Thanks (I think?) for showing the right way to do it.
Hey! Really helpful video, I got the kit, and I am going to attempt this weekend. Just wanted to give you an update about the Max Advanced Coated kit, I ordered using the link you provided, and my kit came with new hardware metal clips for the pads and pins for the caliper bolts, (not new caliper bolts, just the retaining pins for them).
thank your for this video, the angles so i can see exactly what you are doing are perfect, since its my first time changing the brake pads on my Tundra
I’m going to replace/upgrade my friends rotors. These are really similar to the work I did on my g37 rotors and brake pads. It will be my second time doing so.
Great video. Just a heads up, usually you wanna take a wire brush to the brake pad pins. Then use anti seize on the pins. And far as the metal brake line hose from that c clip you removed it’s easer to remove that entire bracket 12mm socket provides more move ability. It was a good video ,,,,, I’ve seen a couple videos now where the pins are not being wire brushed I had a wired grinder at my work bench so it cleans it in a jippy lol. I work at toyota,,,,,,😁
Thx Damien, I agree, I think I would do the 12mm bolt on the metal brake line next time, and Yes, those pins really didn’t clean up too well with just the brake cleaner and paper towel. Great advice on the wire wheel on the bench grinder! Thanks for watching! Take care, -Dan the Fix it Man
Damien Bell Hey Damien since you work @ Toyota why my 04 v8 tundra have a much smaller brake reservoir than the one shown here, your input would b appreciated
Just thought I’d post that the brake line fastener on the steering knuckle is a pain. It uses a weird flared bolt head and nothing I had would grab onto it securely. If you can, have someone hold the caliper to avoid breaking the solid brake line and slap the rotor on real quick.
I wish the mechanics do it this way and grease that really nice and clen parts But No they do it as fastest they can and down o the road making noise slapping jobs and expensive
FYI...on the side of the rotor is a measurement stamped on the minimum width thickness. I found it's better just to buy new rotors instead of having them turned. The thinner they get...the more chance of warpage...just saying.
Hi RJ, No problem, I am happy to report that these brakes are working great. I don’t have too many miles on them yet, as it’s not my daily driver anymore, but so far so good. I did notice a little brake fade as they were getting hot during the initial bedding in process (pretty normal), but now under regular driving conditions, they are working fine and I have no complaints. Thanks for watching! Take care, Dan the Fix it Man
Hi Ryan, The idea is that they will cool down quicker and help dissipate the heat. So far, they seem to be working fine. Haven’t warped yet like the standard ones I have used in the past. Thanks for watching! -Dan the Fix it Man
Hi Mark, These came with that black coating on them already. It took a few days for it to burn off, but they stop great - much better than before. No complaints so far. Thanks for watching! -Dan the Fix it Man
When editing, I cut out a lot of footage to try to keep the videos shorter. I just double checked the truck and the clip is still there installed in place, so what I think happened is I had probably turned that pin so the clip was facing the other direction. Glad you noticed that though! Thanks for watching! -Dan the Fix it Man
This version of the master cylinder is a hydro boost, notice there is no vacuum booster on the back of it. This one is much more expensive to repair or replace and more difficult to work on than the traditional style that you have. Thanks for watching, -Dan the Fix it Man
@@mikegman7502 No worries, here’s a video that I made with your style of master cylinder and booster. The master cylinder was leaking into the booster. ua-cam.com/video/V1Q83GDmplY/v-deo.html Good luck with it.
@@mikegman7502 it’s not too bad, but the third bleeder in the master cylinder threw me off a bit. I was lucky to find those instructions on how to bleed it. I put a screenshot of the instructions in the video. Take care, -Dan

No doubt bro. I work on garage doors and have able to do everything on my truck with this channel
The "you wanna use a socket" totally killed me lol. Great video!
Haha, Thanks William. Always use the right tool for the job…or just use any tool you have in front of you.
Thx for watching!
Doing this job in about 5 minutes after I visit the John again after a late breakfast.
Thank you ! Excellent video skills
This video was exactly what I needed. Super great camera angles and dialogue! Definitely hit the clip with both a socket and a wrench 😅

I was always taught to push dirty fluid out the bleeder instead of up and into abs system when compressing pistons on calipers

Hey Dan what is the benefit to the slotted drilled rotors vs. not?
