I imagine this was recorded not long before Bolet died, at about the same time as I heard him give a wonderful performance of Liszt's Consolations in London. It has the same unaffected solemnity. There's a wonderful speaking quality to the playing; one can imagine that Chopin is confiding his thoughts and feelings to us. A moving performance of a piece too often reduced to showy rhetoric. Thanks so much for posting.
As a pianist, his hand is too big. And his wrist skill is not good. My wrist skill is better than him. Next 200 years, human being will know wrist skill is more important than finger skill. My music theory will effect the world 200 years.
Great version by the Cuban pianist Jorge Bolét. Everything is there : power, softness, delicacy and precision.
This is a perfect description of his interpretation.

One of the all time greats of classical piano
Really?
Yes!
What a fantastic touch...and sound!!!!
Thank you, Mr. Bolet, for the unforgettable memories!
Bolet's precision is breathtaking - but sometimes one feels that every single note is like a separate funeral.

A fine example of the training of the Curtis Institute they trained their graduates to be artists !!!
Favorite performance of the piece without a doubt, Petrov is close second though
Wonderfull. I like also how BoganYi plays this chopin masterwork, but Bolet is my favourite.
Beautiful!

Adolf Hitler
