These fences work for small animals but deer will jump these. Well they do in my area. If you have a lot of fences in your area like barbed wire deer are use to jumping fences. The only way I can keep deer out of our big garden with an electric fence is with an 3D fence. Deer don’t have a real good depth perception and it confuses them so they won’t attempt to jump them and you can also put scented caps on the fences to lure them in to touching the fence with their noses and they’ll never forget it.
You are right, things are a bit different in different areas. I know out west deer will jump a 8 foot fence or even higher if they really want. Where we live both my friend and I have 6 foot fences and have never had a deer jump it. I bet they could. They just don't. We did a video on the 3d fence, I think it is in this video ua-cam.com/video/afCquAnEZbw/v-deo.html
@@HealthAndHomestead Don’t think it’s in that video but I’d did FFWD through it. I plan on using the 3D fence fit Chestnut Orchards I’m planting this fall also.
I tried the fishline trick. I suppose it would work at night, but they can see it in the day time. This would be worth trying. I learned what they like to eat and what they are willing to leave for me.
Here in the AR Ozarks...this fence is not the final solution. We still have to deal with coons and armadillos which still get in the garden, past the electric fence and past a six-foot wire fence inside that. Constant battle. Shocks me often when I'm working, and I suppose it works for some animals but definitely not all. Deer reach over it to munch anything in reach. What fun! Besides that, a couple of times the charging unit got wet inside, though it is well-sealed, and our son had to repair it and call the company for replacement parts.
Chad, I placed my honey bees in a blueberry field to pollinate blueberries for someone. I was concerned the bear may bother them so I installed an electric wire around them and they were fine. One note; most of the fence chargers require a few days in the sun to charge it ahead of time. Oh. The deer can sense the electricity with their nose.
Thank you for advice. I will use this when I go to the country.

Where do I buy this fence? Thanks
This was meant to be posted on Monday. I must have accidentally scheduled the wrong date.
The garden you are at, why do you think there is so much ripened veggies laying on the ground? Disease? Not harvesting in time?
If found a 22 long rifle with subsonics or quiets really work !!!!!!! " Never " shoot to kill ! They never come back ! Works great out to 125 yards !

Great to know thanks Holly.
It seems your fence touching the ground and all that grass would short it out and would no longer shock the animals.
Idk why you said you have to "disconnect the the positive lead" lmao it doesnt matter which lead you disconnect, you break the circuit either way 😂

Great input. Thanks for the info Brent. So they even work for bears. That is good news as we have plenty around our homestead.
