@ Hayes autoworx, in case you aren't aware the Y-Block in your 55 has solid lifters and they need oil with zinc most modern oils today don't have because zinc does something to catalytic converters. Valvoline VR1 racing oil has zinc also Royal Purple oil does also. Like that 55👍👍👍 unbelievable how you got the original paint to shine 👍👍👍
Ford didn't use lacquer based paints in the 50's. If that's original (looks to be) it should be synthetic enamel. Very hardy, lead based. Good job cleaning it up!
thing is with the paint ,,,as you say ..it wont come out perfect ,,,but you know ,,its still beautiful .......if you can,,,i know coker is expensive ,,,,with the tires ,,try to keep the whitewalls ,,..with however can manufacture ,,your kind of tire ...its worth the hunt ,,,i know you want to keep it original ...but you get that much more of it that you invested into it ,,,this car is a piggy bank where youll get more out of it than (if your smart and careful ) ,,,you put in

funny about how you say single stage paint ,,,yes it was thick paint ,,,where quality ,,fought rust more than the paints of today ...2 stage paint ,,lets rust come thru allot easier ,,,thats why ,,,manufacturers ,,,are trying to use m ore plastic ,,on allot of things ..like bumpers ,,,believe me bud ....if you can ...and money allows ,,,keep the whitewalls going on the tires ...keep it as close as you can ,,,im very lucky here to find what i have here in new hampshire ,,thing that hurts me is ,,keeping it in storage thats affordable .....keeping it at my friend ritchies is find but not the best ,,,and along with my dash accessories ,,,,clock ...radio ,,,heater and idiot lights and gas gauge ,,,ritchie tells me its individual wiring ,,and we will look to it in the spring ,,,but its a mystery .....
