Hike to the Middle of Two MASSIVE Waterfalls | Madeira's Lagoa Do Vento Trail

- The Lagoa Do Vento trail! This video is kicking off one of four hikes we did during the course of our 12 day stay on Portugal's island of Madeira. The destination of this hike was unlike anything Tessa or I have ever hiked into - A 2-tiered waterfall system that we walked smack dab into the middle of. The scenery here was absolutely beautiful as followed a levada for the majority of the hike before descending down into the middle of the falls. What a beautiful setting!!! The trail looked well maintained, but one wrong move and you could end up in the drainage canal, which by the way was pretty cool too!!! I don’t recall ever seeing anything like that before.

That trail reminded me of the PNW trails you guys went on in WA and OR with all the dark green vegetation and the big ferns.

Holy Cow!!! Those falls were jaw dropping!!! We could not believe you brought the drone!!! TOTALLY unexpected!!! MAN, oh MAN talk about breathtaking shots!!! Those falls were huge!!! I have never seen two waterfalls stacked like that before!!! That closeup of the pool between the falls was awesome!!!
The drone shot you took going over the first set of falls, over the pool of water, then over the lower set of falls was definitely the MONEY SHOT!!!! The people on the rocks near the pool at the base of the first falls look like tiny fleas!!! The forest is so dense, and the trees are so green, it looks amazing!!! It appears that the lower falls is the taller of the two. The people walking up the trail look so small and the green from all the trees and moss looks so amazing!!! It reminds me of your trip to PeeWee Falls, hehehehe just kidding! 😊
From the drone, it looked like you were in a tropical rainforest in the Congo. We were not aware of how beautiful that part of Portugal was. 😊 Perfect flyover along with a perfect music score. No matter the country / continent, Danny S. brings his “A” game!!!
We were surprised at how deep parts of that pool were. It looked like it was 10 feet deep on one side when Tessa was crossing it.
Hehehehehe, you guys should have brought your wing suits, and you could have flown down!!! 😊

That drainage canal is actually called a levada! Look it up, I think you'll be interested to read about what they are and how many there are. They're kind of like aqueducts.. I think.
The walk by shots were tough on this trip... so many people I found myself nearly running at some points to pull them off.
I agree that it was much like WA and Oregon! Pretty awesome scenery if I should say so myself!
We BROUGHT THE DRONE! I actually sold my old one, and bought the DJI Mini 4 Pro which made it so I could fly it in foreign countries without it need registered :) The falls were beautiful. The video can't even capture it enough.
The MONEY SHOT! I always love to hear which one was the best. I agree. That shot looking down on the falls really captured how high both of them truly were. So cool! Aha it kind of was like PeeWee Falls. We were just fleas on paddle boards!

I know... 😂 I nearly fell so many times. I brought some old hiking shoes because they fit better in the suitcase.. but boy was the tread worn down on those suckers.
The trailhead was packed! There is another popular waterfall hike at the same trailhead that most people go to. We drove our rental car there.. And man was that an adventure (driving in Portugal). Someday on the other channel, you'll see all about it.
I actually have three more hikes to post from this trip! All the files are just sitting in the archives. Haha. One of these days I'll get around to posting those, and the full trip on the second channel. Until then, I look forward to hearing from you guys again! Glad you enjoyed the outro!

WOW, awesome to hear about the DJI mini pro 4. My brother just got the mini pro 4 about a month ago. It is his first DJI drone. He is pretty pumped. It is awesome to see great the camera / video was!!!

Yes! That's a good way to describe it. Those are called levadas and I believe they're unique to the island as they were built to carry water from the mountains and into the cities/towns. They are everywhere throughout the island and most have pathways next to them which open them up to hiking trails etc.. Pretty awesome!

Thanks Len!! It was an awesome little opener for the year, and by the end of it I'd had enough 😂 I didn't count the stairs.. but there were plenty to get a good sweat going. It felt like it maybe a 1/4 of Aasgard. I'm slooowly getting her there lol
