I picked up a gentleman tonite that just opened a Uber rider account not more than 5 minutes before i picked him up. He said he used his apple account to sign up. No driver license needed.Theres no way they did any sort of background check on him. He even commented on how easy it was to open the Uber acctount and was amazed at how fast he got picked up. Uber doesnt care one bit about its drivers safety. its pathetic
Same here. A couple had never used it but needed a ride. It took them less than 5 minutes to create the account.
Those ride share companies need to shut down forever.

In South Africa, these are companies a like Discovery Vitality (Health Insurance/Medical Aid) & Sanlam (an FSP)
I had a cpl going to a hotel around 3am. We got to the hotel, the guy asked if I could take them around back to drop them off. I said I can drop you off at the front door. A driver has to assume the passenger may have bad intentions. The front door, brightly lit, probable security cameras....much safer than a dimly lit empty, rear parking lot. Drivers have to remain vigilant and protect themselves. The ride share companies are not protecting the drivers.

Here in Arizona all of the low life's use Uber. Whether it's Uber or Lyft, I disagree with the practice of guest rides, unless it's a medical pickup. I think that guest rides can be potentially dangerous.
Uber needs to vet customers, requirements to create any account is taking photos of driver license, requiring customers submit their face upon booking EVERY appointments and background/criminal check all customers.
If driver's have to be vetted then customers have to meet and go through same procedure,/requirements.
How about allowing drivers to carry if they are legally able to do so...
Let me guess, the company will make sure to unmatched him with that person since they value the driver safety. I bet that ride was only few bucks, but almost cost the driver his life. I'm glad to hear the driver is still alive. Please stay safe my fellow drivers.

I’m only delivering food and packages now because it’s very unsafe to be a driver anymore. As we all know crime pays in California no one gets in trouble. It’s not worth it.
Are they protected by governments..? how their operations are not been stop already..? It keeps happening over and over again, like its nothing.. Are we leaving in an inhumane, heartless world now...? I can't still comprehend how they are not been held Accountable for all the this...

This is the SAME situation the taxi industry has gone through in the past. I have to laugh at ride-sell drivers who joined in circumventing laws cabbies had to obey. Now years later, you're in the same boat as the cabbies you joined in to abuse. Youre still clueless of all the laws cabbies had to obey. Taxis put in protective steel and plexi-glass shields in the cabs. Now you might have to do the same thing making ride-sell more like the taxis they replaced.

I stopped doing rideshare 7 years ago, and I only did airport runs. I also drove for Checker Taxi & Yellow Cab for years in Central Florida.
HOW IS IT LEGAL FOR UBER TO NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR EVERY DEATH AND ASSAULT. THEY ARE LITERALLY DIRECTLY LIABLE FOR WHO THEY LET USE THE PLATFORM. THAT WOULD BE LIKE WALMART HIRING A KNOWN FELON AND THEY SHOOT UP OHER EMPLOYEES OR GUEST'S SHOPPING, WALMART WOULD DEFINITELY BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR IT. IF YOU GO TO A FAST FOOD PLACE AND GET SICK, THEY ARE LIABLE. SO COMMON SENSE WOULD SAY, IF YOU WORK FOR A EMPLOYER THAT PUTS YOUR KIFE I. DANGER BASED ON THEIR NEGLIGENCE THEN THEY ARE DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE AND HOW THE FUCK HASNT ANY LAWYERS FIGURED THIS OUT? IS IT NOT BEING PUBLISHED? THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE SO START SUING

Just sued them , over and over and over again, till they do something about it. These companies only care is only about money not about the drivers, sad but true, look in Minsesota don't want to give drivers a puny raise, they want all for themselves, that's all they are good for, and not caring for anyone.
