What's your favorite law
Mine is don't punch people without their consent that's a good law
I like the “Don’t lie on the Witness Stand” law. Shame we hardly ever see it.
"HI mate I'm gonna punch you."
"Wha-"
*punch*
18 US code 1512...aka, "witness tampering", which is punishable with up to 20 years in prison.
I think of the AA prosecutors whenever I hear about it. I mean, so many of the witnesses will even say "I was told not to say such-and-such", and everyone just sort of shrugs their shoulders to it. XD
Jury nullification🗿
My favorite is one weird one in Arizona, where it's illegal to feed wild pigs garbage without a license. You can renew this license every January.
Edgeworth would absolutely have the entirety of the lawbook mentioned and would absolutely take the opportunity to roast Phoenix while reciting it. Beautiful.
bitch you mean memorized
yes
"Listen carefully Poenix, this section is about you
Ahem
Psychological violence is..."
The way Edgeworth stopped just so he could tell Phoenix to pay attention at that specific part just to call him an idiot killed me-
Err…💀
It killed him too
weird I thought it was the insane part he was drawing attention to
This means that Edgeworth learnt both the US and Japanese code proving his superior intellect
He probably knows all European laws considering he travels there a lot.
You gotta learn both when you live in Japanifornia
Japanifornia
learned japanese law as reiji mitsurugi
learned usa law as miles edgeworth
learned french law as benjamin hunter
I mean he did end up studying laws in other countries, so it is kinda believable that he'd be pretty versed in law.
the fact that this all sounds like improv makes it 100x funnier. "pay attention, wright; this pertains to you..."
1k likes and no comment? I now know what I have to do
1.2k likes and just 1 reply?
Let me fix that aswell!
In an alternate timeline:
Phoenix: “Name every law.”
Edgeworth: “Don’t kill people.”
Phoenix: “That’s all you can name?”
Edgeworth: “Have you forgotten what series we’re from, Wright?”
Phoenix: “...Point taken.”
there's also "stealing bad" and "don't help people kill other people" but those three literally are the only things people have been punished for
@@darkacadpresenceinblood and no evidence tampering !!!!!
Techincally perjury IS a crime in AA but only when they feel like remembering
@@happydaysforever01no evidence tampering if your first name starts with p, ends with x and has "hoeni" in the middle
@@mineralnoodlesoh, and for good measure, if your last name is "wright" or if your nickname is "nick"
Him breaking script just to roast Phoenix is the best
it's fucking beautiful, is what it is
When his dad said Edgeworth was already reading law books in middle school, he ain't kidding
Not even middle school, *elementary school.* When he was like *8.*
He isn't called a genius for nothing.
To be fair, I don’t think that’s all that weird. I read astronomy textbooks when I was in elementary school.
Granted, that kind of behavior doesn’t get you many friends, but eventually kids are bound to have a normal interest. (He got into Signal Samurai, I got into Pokémon.)
Phoenix: Name every law.
Edgeworth: *Proceeds to do just that*
Phoenix: I made a terrible mistake.
“-Pay attention, Wright, this pertains to you-shall include every clown, circus, and person scurrilis mentis…”
We should have expected this from the beginning- Edgeworth will always call him a clown at all times ever
Mental scoundrel?
Unrealistic, Edgeworth would also recite the entire Japanese and European law too
He did this just after naming avery American law.
Actually he would recite the law of every country going from a-z and then finish with maritime law
He is reciting all laws by alphabetical order of country they come from, he just started with America
@@tylercoon1791 while this is funny, two things:
1) africa is earlier alphabetically
2) its called the us not america as a canadian this pains me
@@GabRioBlu ah yes the continent of Africa, my favorite country. clearly you are Canadian as that is the most north American education system statement i have ever witnessed
I looked up the phrase _"non compos mentis"_ out of curiosity.
It's a Latin phrase meaning "of unsound mind".
Edgeworth just roasted Wright in a centuries-dead language.
He needed to flex his Latin just to assert dominance.
not to ruin your fun, but in common law (US Ireland, the UK, Australia etc.) latin IS part of the law. The one you probably have at least heard of is habeus corpus (show me the body) more or less a prisoner arguing their incarceration is unlawful
@@matthewshuck5190 I'm well aware of that fact; I just didn't know what _non compos mentis_ meant.
@@zierin705 ah understandable. I only do because of my real life job (I promise none of us have even the relevant code memorized in full let alone the entire code)
@@matthewshuck5190 didn't John Oliver do a segment where he basically says "The U.S. government doesn't even know how many laws there are, but they estimate..."? The fact that the lawmakers don't even have all their laws together is a little entertaining - and then you're supposed to argue about said unknown laws in court, enforce them etc.??
You couldn’t convince me this isn’t actual in game dialogue even if you paid me
It isn't. He'd recite the Japanese law code instead.
@@timothymclean actually, it would be, because the games are said to take place in America
@@dd-tz8cm Ah, right, "eat your hamburgers".
@@timothymclean JAPANIFORNIA
Well there is a Grammar Lecture in AA2
"pay attention Wright this pertains to you" I'M DYING THIS VIDEO IS GREAT HAHA
Now I want a three-hour long video of Edgeworth reciting the US Code with Phoenix's endless babbling. This is hilarious!
0:07 Denial
0:14 Anger
0:19 Bargaining
0:23 Depression
0:30 Acceptance
I have a 100% belief that miles mesmerized this _solely_ because he knew phoenix would ask him this at some point.
I love how he doesn’t even has the sprite with the paper. Hes just reciting from sheer memory😂
Edgeworth once again not only casually wiping the floor with Wright but getting a barb in too
"Pay attention, Wright, this pertains to you -" got me.
This reminds me of one of Jehtt’s videos; Phoenix is Sonic, and Edgeworth is Shadow.
Yeah where sonic asks shadow to recite the Bible in Japanese and he does.
You mean the one where Sonic asks Shadow on a date ("Breathe if yes. Recite the Bible in Japanese if no."), and Shadow subsequently recites the Bible in Japanese without breathing?
EDIT: This one?
ua-cam.com/video/FNg5V8KMmHo/v-deo.html
@@zierin705 Yeah, that one.
"So you think you're a better lawyer than me, Edgeworth?"
"Of course not, Wright... I KNOW I am."
edgeworth going off script to insult phoenix is absolutely incredible
I cracked up at how edgeworth kept going in such a consistent flow and catching phoenix off guard, then just continuing
Edgeworth's commitment to the bit and only breaking it to call Phoenix a moron is to be respected-
Amazing. A+ tier joke. I can see Edgeworth doing this purely from F-You energy. That, or just listing the names of the individual laws in order.
This is canon I can actually see them have a conversation like this
"I thought you were just going to tell me to shut up or something."
You and I both, Phoenix. I'd say that Mornal knows their dynamic better than anyone, but like.... duh.
Edgeworth would absolutely do this precisely because he knew phoenix would say something like this at some point. It's the ~bit~
I mean, what did Phoenix expect?
He thought Edgeworth was gonna tell him to shut up or something.
@@JJ_R he’s known Edgeworth for like, 15 or more years now, he should’ve known this was coming lol
These voices are Ace. These jokes are also Ace. This whole channel is just Ace
attorney
Detective
Spirit Medium
This is literally so in character and the voice acting makes it even better! That's exactly how I imagine Phoenix's voice to be, and Edgeworth's voice is really good in this context too!
Yo y'all think he memorised it on his own or Von Karma got creative in his child abuse?
Probably a bit of both tbh. Started memorising it on his own before dl6, then vonkarma forced him to completely memorise it
DAAAAANGG HE REALLY SAID THE ENTIRE LAW
_- ...the words "insane" and "insane person" - pay attention Wright, this pertains to you, - ..._
“That’s what you BROKE script for?! Are you kidding me?!”
That had me rolling. 😭
edgeworth...... Jesus Christ.....
cannon. he held up an entire murder trial for this
Considering he has to name every law, he has to name law from different countries as well as old laws that its constitution had been rewritten, and for that he would need to either know those languages and say it in the language, or try to translate to English, and that's not even counting state laws, just federal >.>
Knowing Edgeworth he might just do that
@@baguette3025 definitely would do that
This is now my headcanon voice for Phionex and Edgyworth
That Miles is Worth his Edge in gold
Don’t lie Phoenix…you think it’s hot that he memorized it.
LMFAO
Edge(worth) to edge(worth) of the law book.
damn edgeworth wow XD
The Insane Person bit being in the very first section of the first chapter aligned perfectly just so this video could exist
We need a full version of this.
Edit; After seeing the replies I must say that what was an "I" has been changed to "We".
Sorry, do you mean you want me to make a full audiobook of the U.S. code as Edgeworth
@@Mornal Absolutely.
@@Mornal yes
@@Mornal yes
@@Mornal indeed.
This is pure gold. Thanks for this.
The absolute madman did it
I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out that Von Karma forced Edgeworth to memorise the entire lawbook like some kids memorise the number pi.
Okay now I'm kinda sad.
@@alexf225 although he could’ve also memorised it from reading those law books he had apparently been reading lol
@@shanellemurrey9300 It's almost imposible to just memorise every law. Lawers often need to check them again even after years of work.
@@alexf225 oh wow lol. Might be both, since he did start reading law books very young, then von karma forced him for the rest, so very strange abuse technique from von karma. Feel bad for the 2, especially franzy, since she had lived with him like that her whole child hood
@@alexf225 even Von Karma has a book with him in his artwork, and I'm sure that's not twilight or hunger games, what he DOES make edgeworth memorize are his current case's facts, see AA1
I did something similar when someone asked me to name every country in the world, thinking they had 1upped me. I then started singing 'Yakko's World', proving I knew every country and was thus smarter than them. They tried to stop me but I kept going 'til the end :)
That’s actually outdated- unless the reboot did an updated song?
@@runeanonymous9760 Whether it's outdated or not, how would they know? :D
*B O T S W A N A A A A*
The original song didn't even include every country, and included non-countries in the song by accident lol. Good comment though, I just wanted to put this out there.
Edgeworth would memorize that.
this is the ace attorney equivalent to that sonic video "will your date me?? breathe if yes, recite the bible in Japanese if no"
after he finishes with the U.S. code he's gonna move on to other countries
How to: Traumatize a lawyer
How to basic: traumatising a lawyer
We just missed the dial up sounds as Edgeworth connects to the database
chess robot
It's funny because Wright has a bunch of difficult-looking legal books that mock him.
phoenix is just me watching extraordinary attorney woo
Same vibe as "omega count every grain of sand in this desert"
This gives strong "breath if yes; recite the bible in japanese if no" vibes
he totally would memorise the whole legal code
This is absolutely Cannon
Beautiful
0:26 you can read the feeling of being attacked in his eyes 😭😭😂
Remember kids, Edgeworth is the adoptive son of THE Manfred von Karma, no wonder he had to memorize the entire US code
0:30 "the words "person" and "whoever" include corporations, companies..."
I believe the "Objection!" interjection screen is due here.
I mean... yeah he would...
*Bless you.*
What's incredible is that this actually is US code title 1, section 1, chapter 1. Including, verbatim, the "every idiot, insane person, and person non compos mentis." It's like it was written for this exact bit.
This was marvellous!
Now excuse me as I go rewatch "Name every task" memes.
I like how the music kicks in just as he says “wait, what?”
This reminds me of aegis skit where mc asks her to count the number of floors in Tartarus and yukari just conveys every emotion.
Considering the us code is
60,000 PAGES LONG
and the fact the he's probably memorized Japanese and potentially european and other sets of laws, we're gonna be here for a WHILE
'pay attention, wright, this pertains to you' HELP LMAOOOOO
brilliant skit as always, mornal!
Rewatching this after learning the inspiration behind the Edgeworth voice.
Miles: don't you know that i have everything printed in my database
Phoenix: wait what? are you a robot
gumshoe: and I'm a golem
(for more context watch miles is a robot by jello apocalypse)
Edgeworth owned Wright there….just as he does in the bedroom…
No. *NO*
Edgeworth is the TOP prosecutor.
Your channel inspired me to get into Ace Attourney and now absolutely the only voices I can hear for these characters
this has the same vibe as shadow and sonic's "will you date me? breathe if yes, recite the bible in japanese if no" 😂
Edgeworth defeats bluffing
This is incredibly in character for edgeworth in the first game in cases 2 or 3
0:25 we need a fire rescue team dispatched to the courthouse, there is a man spitting sick flames. At least one person has been victim to burn
GREAT ACE ATTORNEY 2 REFERENCE AHEAD
This reminds me of that time when Stronghart listed twelve solid arguments and two hundred and twenty three individual reasons why he should be Queen Victoria’s Attorney General.
This is such an Edgeworth thing to do lol
Trying to consist laws to be like.
You never fail to deliver lmfao
😂 When the topper starts answering:
RTGame when someone says “ENGLISH MAJOR”
I can't believe he names every single law. Damn Edgeworth must of really focused in law school
Love this immensely.
We need an animation of this
My favorite part of this absolutely the cornered music playing. Its like Edgeworth is rushing to get it out before Phoenix can interrupt him with nonsense
0:21 - "words used in the present tense include the future as well as the present?" The code actually says that? I guess that means if I'm an idiot now, I'm an idiot in the future.
This is beautiful xD
The AAI pursuit theme playing is perfect
This has major "Updated Autopsy Report" vibes
Ive seen this at least a dozen times now it still kills me
I love the this pertains to you part haha!
Amazing job. The voice acting here is even BETTER than the anime. And my God was the writing for every line on point.
Absolute madlad
It’s his bedtime story don’t worry 😉
me telling the entirety of the aa lore in rapid to succession to a random victim who asked me who the funny blue spiky man is
lol!! I loved this!!:)
