danzig did jaguar god too great shit man i wish it went on n verotik started up i knew him danzig hard be around n heard work with his way orrrr....sadly just sad how he even pissed off fraz the man why he left said glenn is a fuckin idiot he wanted biggest muscles tits where there cant be ever bigger!!!!...sad danzig 60's n a meme now breaks my heart i knew him in misfits i was 4 1/2 in 1983 before broke up, n too seen samhain as older step cousin took me n danzig seen dozens times awful sound to mic like rob zombie cos they move so much love danzig still just an asshole WASTED TIME IS A SHAME HE WAS GONNA BE HIS HERO WOLVERINE BACK THEN HE WANTED TO BUT SAID EHHHH I GOTTA TOUR so dumb!!!! but yeah wolverine he worships why he let his side burns grow down pass jaw.....
I bought this very book in the 90's here in Australia. Unfortunately over time, all the pages fell out and its gone now. I was really taken by the cover art at the time. It was just so cool and dark.
Nice to be able to hit pause to read along mostly. I picked up the second one of these in 1996 randomly. I was 16 and I was like This art work is amazing and super violent. Yes the stories are pretty straight forward and not very deep but you read it for the violence. 16 year old me loved the art and violence and I still do.
How about Joe Jusko, Neal Adams,Joe Kubert and Don Newton. Frazetta was a straight up jock who just knew how a body’s musculature just works. Hence, all the guys have big glutes cause that’s where all the power is coming from- the butt and legs.
It's an exciting comic, a must-have for Frazetta fans. But I have the same reservations about Bisley doing Death Dealer, that Frazetta himself did. To paraphrase Rodney Dangerfield: "You take too many liberties, kid.." Bisley tried hard to keep his natural anatomy distortions under control, and give his best Frazetta.. But his stuff is still naturally closer to Sienkiewicz, than Frazetta. I felt like Arthur Suydam's Death Dealer book was a little closer in look and spirit, to Frazetta..
Ironically, a lot of the one shot paintings Bisley was doing for Verotik at the time were closer in spirit and style to Frazetta's work than this book. Still, a lot of fun and a good series overall! Sure I read something about Frazetta's wife not being a fan of it due to the high levels of violence throughout?!
@@ironmongol75 I gota Inject here too..I remember reading that particular interview where he (Frank Frazetta) stated he loved bizley work!..(but ad was stated by previous comment was a lil too over the top with his violence)...didn't really know Elle frazetta felt that way..but it makes sense she would though lol..
If you can track down "Frazetta: Illustrations Arcanum", well worth it if you are a Frazetta fan. Some of the stuff in there wasn't put in the Icon books. Bought it back when it came out.
Enjoyed your commentary about this book, which I bought a couple years ago. When I first read it, I knew the art style reminded me of something familiar. Then when you pointed out the resemblance to Corben, it immediately became clear.
I liked the art of Danzig's Death dealer comics, but the plot was virtually non existent. I thought the 4 Death Dealer novels by James Silke were pretty good. They're no longer in print, but you can find them on ebay easily enough.

Danzig musing on Death Dealer: What makes Death Dealer the Death Dealer? It was the helmet!
I know it's a week old video, but I dig seeing some Verotik make an appearance here.

Loved this one. Forgot how epic the the illustrations are in this.
Dan Zing is my favorite golden era bullpen jobber.
Enjoyed Jaguar God from Glenn Danzig and Frank frazetta as well

The Danzig video where he shows off his book collection was the first VHS, not the second one. Also it's awesome and you should watch it.
Really wish this series would get the digital treatment. Much like the other verotika stuff. Like on comixolgy or something.
A lot of folks where introduced to the character through the paperback books, so James Silke should get a shout out as well.
Those books rule. They do a great job of establishing the character in a believable and authentic manner. Good shout!
It gets mentioned in the book Icon, that Frazetta kinda hated the Verotik Death Dealer comics lol
There was a second book that had the horse painting on the cover.
Basically, Death Dealer is Conan possessed by Venom, that would be a cool approach for Conan on the Savage Avengers.
James Silke WROTE Death Dealer.
Re: Bodybuilder artists who draw great musculature... Doug Mahnke also comes to mind.

I'm glad Frazetta Girls is continuing the poster stuff. Amazing stuff tbh.

you should review simon bisleys illustrations for paradise lost.
I was so excited when I first read this.
Image comics also did their own version of Death Dealer and Frazetta characters
Yeah, I have it and it's weak as piss! The story sucks to say the least!

Fresh off the rack that book had the most pungent smell of binding glue, you would be high at the end of reading it.
Had to go grab a danzig live CD during this video. Turned it over and sure enough front cover by Simon bisley. The cover was better than the cd...lol
The book choices lately are choice 👌
Sooooo choice
I have the first one but all the other Death Dealer comics are sadly missing.
Two of Verotics first books before the comics were that Frazetta pencil book and a great Bisley book.
Although Bisley is one of my favourite comic artists I prefer Liam Sharp's Death Dealer. An artist's edition would be more than amazing!!!
I have this comic in my collection, one of the few ones in english.
bisley is amazing.

Boris and Julie were bodybuilders.
Opus has a mini series about Death Dealer, not sure if it's related to this in anyway...
So red room will be available in physical media and 2021?
Darkness
Ythis comic had bad glue. Falls apart.
hey i asked for this THANKS

Not bisleys best art
Ugh, the early photoshop coloring just butchering the great linework.
I never was a fan of the color work on this
