Geezer on bass guitar is criminally overlooked in this video. If you listen he’s going off just as much as everyone else. And he wrote most of their lyrics.
Brian May of Queen considers him "the true father of heavy metal",[80] Eddie Van Halen stated that "without Tony, heavy metal wouldn't exist. He is the creator of heavy!"[80] and James Hetfield of Metallica, who was profoundly influenced by Iommi, defines him "The king of the heavy riff".[81] Rob Halford, vocalist for Judas Priest, when filling in for Ozzy Osbourne during an August 2004 concert in Philadelphia, introduced Iommi to the audience as "The man who invented the heavy metal riff".[82] Michael Amott of Carcass and Arch Enemy considers Iommi his "guitar hero"[83] and the world's greatest guitarist "because he invented the heavy tone and evil riff".[84] According to Lamb of God singer Randy Blythe, "Iommi is the reason heavy metal exists".[83] HP Newquist of the National Guitar Museum stated that "His guitar playing has defined the sound of heavy metal for more than four decades, and he has influenced countless thousands-if not millions-of players."[85]
Bill Ward is a Beast ! One of my all time favorite drummers. He beats those drums like they owe him money 🤣. Black Sabbath, Forever the Godfathers of Metal! \m/
Saw them back in September 1972 in New Orleans. I was one of the few brothers rocking with them. I’m 69 years old now. I was a twenty year old puppy when I saw them live. AWESOME !!! 😎
Ozzy. I saw him 4 times. 3 were at ozz fests. For reference it's a music festival where ozzy got old and new bands to sing in an outdoor setting. It was awesome and what I liked best was the old masters like black sabbath and the priest showed the young bands and their fans how it's done
Lead singer is Ozzy Osbourne. The song (and video) are 50 years old. I would like to suggest that when you pause, you rewind it 5 secs or so before re-starting. This song is from what is arguably their best album, called Paranoid. The big hits off that (besides War Pigs) would be the songs Paranoid and Iron Man. Rest of the album is good too. Also check out their 1st album, called Black Sabbath.
Iron Man, Paranoid, NIB, Fairies Wear Boots are a few of the other songs that you need to listen to. Oxygen Osbourne is lead vocalist, Tony Iommi is the lead guitarist, Geezer Butler play the bass, and that guy beating the living sh!t out of the poor drums is Bill f’king Ward.
You are a boss sir. Your assessment and intuition on the music the performance the players and the crowds reaction is dead on. Ozzy Osborne wasn’t no joke bruh he and Black Sabbath wrote dark music about dark reality of how we all live and what has been done to us. At 57 years old I remember the fake & phonies in media and politics demonizing this band and Ozzy. What they didn’t realize is he was singing about all the evil ways the have and the evil they have done to us. That’s what Black Sabbath was about. Glad you liked this
Check out the words to this song it was banned in the US when it came out they had to change the words to play it in the US California Jam I was there along with about 400 thousand people early 70s
@@christinerobinson3819 I did live in Erdington but I moved to Droitwich Spa my wife is from Droitwich all the best and keep safe I'm sixty six now lol.

The song Fairies with Boots On was inspired by a skinhead party they saw in a house as they were walking back to their digs after a concert in Workington. As a small coincidence, I now live in Fort Worth!
i dig your reaction. that's the birth of heavy metal right there. for black sabbath i recommend the songs black sabbath, the wizard, lord of this world and electric funeral.
Fort Worth Fabian loved your reaction. The lead singer is Ozzy Osbourne. Black sabbath is a great band. I know you’ve probably heard Iron Man. So this next song I would go to is paranoid. You also should check out some of his solo stuff. His first album with guitar god Randy Rhoads crazy train. Thank you for sharing good luck on your musical journey.❤️😀👍✌️🌼Love and peace
For a great guitar riff try "Into the Void", For super innovative drums try "Children of the Grave" and to try out their other great singer Ronnie James Dio try "Heaven and Hell"
And that is why rock is 1000 times better than the hip hop and rap stuff..... this band formed in 1968, and the music is still played over 50 years later. The rolling stones....1962, Still going.
There is a Ozzy Osbourne version of Black Sabbath 68 to 79, then there’s the Ronnie James Dio version of Black Sabbath 80 to 83. Both KICK ASS! Heaven and Hell album EPIC!
They the Godfathers of heavy metal and actually started in the sixties cuz this song came out in 68 when an war is still going on in Vietnam and they lived in London England when the Germans bombed London England in World War II I'm sure they lost a lot of friends and relatives in that this is what that song is about evil minds that plot destruction Sorcerers of deaths Construction and later on in the song it's got the Book of Revelations in there it was in the good old days of tripping on acid and peyote and mescaline smoking Thai stick and opium Keep On Truckin$$$$$$$%
I like the way you're thinking, about being born at the wrong time, but i hate to break it to you......................... you cannot be nostalgic about those times since you didn't even existed back then. I on the other hand can, and am nostalgic with a fair amount of sadness attached to it, since those times were far better especially concerning music. It makes me happy to see younger generations appreciating what was before, at the same time knowing it will flabbergast them, only IF they take the effort. Keep on going my friend, it won't dissapoint you.
How’s this 51 years young ? I don’t care what THEY say about each era looking back with rose tinted glasses . This art has died out , thank god for records and videos. Today’s music is 90% mediocre and without heart. Step it up aspiring musicians 😛✌️ To whoever enjoyed this , watch the whole gig , it’s a classic 👍
Lmao , ok but no , Metal evolved . Research a band called Coven , they were using devil horns and had a song called black sabbath that they released in 1968 , then there are band like Zeppelin , deep purple , Hendrix , Iron butterfly . And elvis invented rock n roll .
@@rdhudon7469 you are completely incorrect. Black Sabbath undisputedly the band that invented heavy metal. Yes, there were hard rock bands at the time, but Black Sabbath brought in slower, heavier sounds, and brought dark themes into music that havent before, same thing with venom and bathory starting what become black metal. Part of Black Sabbaths sound werent their choice, for the fact that Iommi lost 2 of his fingertips in an accident, so therefore had to loosen his strings. Ozzy Osbourne would famously change a lot of the lyrics of the songs live so obviously what he’s singing is not the same as what would be on the original record. I used to find it fascinating that he could just improvise lyrics on the spot a true musical genius.
