I'm about to install my platforms and was going to used balsa wood cut to size and shape. My platforms are curved. But you have helped me to discover the Peco platform edges that look terrific. I never knew they even existed. So will use those along with polyfilla. But I will paint the filla as I really like the style of the Peco platform edge, so mask the edges and paint the filla will work a treat. Many thanks for your help with this. 👍
You certainly have ended up with some fine platforms. I recall Richard at Everard using this method but he used Mod Podge instead of Polyfiller and that was very expensive. Ive found Metcalf kits to be excellent, quicker, cheaper and they seem to last well. Curved platforms are so much more interesting. We are well served in our hobby with so many different ways to acheive our goals.
This is a really interesting method for creating platforms! Thanks for the tutorial! I'll be sure to think about it when I come to creating mine! Cheers, Ian.
Nice method and tutorial, they certainly wont be going anywhere! As a slightly less messy alternative I find that Pritt Stick is quite good for sticking down texture sheets. Thanks for putting this together and sharing. Cheers, Dave.
Nice way to make platforms, my last curved platforms I used Metcalfe kits. The title is mis-leading though I would not call them curved platforms, pretty straight to me.
They are curved just with a very wide radius I can see why you'd say that though as this may not apply to tighter radius curves, thank you for the comment
Hi Dan, I remember you doing the platforms like this on your last layout, it’s an interesting method and I must say they look really good, nicely explained to, thanks for sharing, cheers John
No problems, the baseboard is built with 12mm plywood and tight bracing so weight won't be an issue there. I can easily drill the holes I need for lighting when I come to it:)
see i dont have the Patients to wait a few days for it to dry, id of cleaned the tracks and at least been running trains or id of ended up throwing more on once top Layer has dried a bit, i wouldnt worry on getting those yellow lines straight as NR seem to struggle to do that in real life aswell
Looks brilliant! Did you make those storage boxes (behind the glue) yourself? I have to make something similar.... just seven feet long! What code track are you using? Cheers. Mike.

Platforms looking good 👍 Dan. Cheers Euan
Thank you very much
Very interesting video Daniel, not see platforms done in this manner before and end result is great. Its another step complete.
Thank you, its coming along fairly quickly as I'd hoped

Yes I remember watching that video, I too prefer the look of curved platforms
An excellent way to produce platforms, the actual finishing looks very realistic matey.
Thank you!
Fantastic, I will give this method a try. Thanks.
I believe with your platforms being quite long this could be suitable
Fantastic job👍👍👍.
Greetings Gert
Thanks!

Ah yes prit stick I imagine would be a good adhesive, not sure how well it would stick paper to filla but definitely paper to paper
Great tutorial. Lots of nice info. Thanks for sharing. Dave
Thank you

onde posso imprimir essas folhas tb...obrigado
Looks good Dan, Your moggy makes as much noise as mine lol
They do get in the way don't they! And create a lot of backround noise
can i ask what about the weight of the Polyfilla........any problems at all ???. What if you decided to add platform lighting in the future ???

Well at least there some realism there then!

I did yes, they're quite handy for drawer storage, and I'm using Code 80 from Peco
Could I ask what platform sides did you use...Nice wotk
Peco concrete edging
This is fantastic. Do you have the manufacturer part number for the forms or sides of the platforms?
Peco NB-27
Isn’t the platform too near the turnout? Not a criticism just need to learn.
Hello, before finalising the placement of all platform edges, I run my longest coaches on the adjacent track to ensure clearance is sufficiently
peco not the way you are saying lol🤣🤣🤣
Whichever pronunciation!
