I've been shopping for a C. Bechstein. While I'd love to own a Concert 8, I think the sound would be too overwhelming for my apartment and my neighbors. Same with the Concert 6. I played a couple Residences and really like them. I'll probably go to other C. Bechstein showrooms to play more, get a feel for the different models on different pianos. But I'm thinking Residence.
Indeed, I had the same feeling. The C8 was amazing but it deserves the right space. I ended up on the R124 that makes me shake every time I play a tone
Somehow the Concert 8 always comes out on top. BTW, what is the difference between the Concert 6 and the R-124? Cosmetic, or something about construction/design (and price)?
On a technical level, it's really hard to tell unfortunately. However I managed to get some info from the dealer. The Concert series has: * Longer key levers and can achieve faster repetition speed and a higher dynamic range (pp-ff). * Crowned soundboard * American hard maple pin block with no dowels and larger pins. The Residence has a Beechwood pinblock with Hornbeam dowels In the store, the C8 sounded almost overwhelming in terms of sheer volume while the R124 more balanced. The action feels different with the Residence somewhat "sturdier", in lack of better words. The Concert 8 one felt more natural. I could not spot any difference between the C6 and the C8

@@RobertoCosenza Thanks. Still no information on the new model on PianoBuyer, whether specs or prices.
