Good info. I caught an 18" brown a couple of miles down stream from that spot 5-6 years ago. My son and I were hoping to tie into small mouth, but I was happy to get the Brown anyway.
@@alanbabcock1438 wow that’s awesome! I didn’t know smallies were in there….I never considered fishing it until the news about it being stocked again to reintroduce the Cuts….I may need to go back! Thanks again for the message
I have caught trout out of there back in March 2024 but I was in between REI and the Aquarium. Closer to the bridge going towards REI. Not as big as you got but a decent 15-16”. Beadhead pheasant tail.
Hi, I regularly go down there and there are plenty to be had even before the recent stocking. I usually go up by the aquarium, will have to explore more down by the skate park. Nice video!!
Nice video! I've tried fishing downtown Denver a couple of times with absolutely no luck no hits at all! Nice to know there might be some opportunity next time I get down there.👍
@@tomrivera8480 thank you, appreciate that! After I caught the nice one right away I thought it was going to be a great day….but still landed 3 total in about 90 min and it was fun! Go get em!
I've caught some fattys before the stock. Landed a nice freaking walleye as well and there's big, small mouth as well. I normally fish streamers but dry dropper in the summer is never a bad idea either.
Sick video! Super excited to check out this new fishery sometime in the future. I have been wondering, with rainbows like this and most that they stock in CO, are they capable of spawning? Do the populations decline over time to reach ecological equilibrium? Cheers
@@wetsockoutdoors8538 thank you! Great question….they obviously need moving water to spawn so they don’t reproduce in our lakes, but we certainly have spawning trout in many of our streams and rivers. My guess is that it might be a bit too dirty and low to spawn and nest on redds on the downtown south Platte….not sure
@FishOnwithCoachSteve I love trout deep fried or smoked. For me,I catch my limit and head towards the house thinking about whether or not I have tartar sauce. Thanks brother for the video. That first 1 was a monster.

@@dragonflyjoyride Nice! That was before the much publicized stocking….I fished entirely from Denver skate park up to REI

Who cares if a fish is stocked? I fish for the tug as it is my drug!
