Thanks for the video. I have been hangar flying or UA-cam flying this past year. Thanks for taking me along for a ride. I am a pilot with medical issues trying to figure out the best way to get back in the air. RANS & Vans aircraft have my attention. Cheers!
Sean T hey Sean glad to! The 21 is a beautiful well performing machine for sure! I was leaning towards an s7 but after spending more time around the outbound I’m not sure!
@@GravityKnightFlying what did it feel like with the Titan 160-180 hp? How much more power did you feel vs the 915. As I understand it the Titan 360 produces 160 hp with mogas package and 180 hp with aviation fuel, must be Jet A -- but that will need to be confirmed. Cruising @ 155 mph is plenty fast ii my interest in more hp is in steep take off's. How slow can you get that S21 to fly, can you get the stall speed
@@JeffGillis1 I'm hearing from the factory that the 915 S21 is getting around a 35mph stall. That is no VG's or anything else, first test flights... more to come. And around 1700fpm climb! It's 70 lbs lighter than the Titan version. Personally I would go for the 915 for a couple reasons.. lighter - so lower stall and shorter landings.., maintains power at high altitudes! Big plus up here where I live. The Titan does win in the simplicity battle though - the 915 is very complex with a lot of wires and redundant sensors etc. The Titan does make good power, and sounds amazing.. but I would prefer the 915 overall. The 180hp Titan requires 100LL, and the 160 can run on car gas is my understanding.
Very nice, good content, I always wondered how a company like that operates, seems very friendly with family feel which is great. A suggestion, it would be nice if you can interview or have people explain or do a tour in this case. Also did you hear feedback on the S7s 915is? that sounds like it would be very close to a cub performance.
good idea! I didn't hear exact numbers on that S7 sadly, I'd like to know more too. I know the it was a pretty heavy S7 due to some mods etc. seemed to perform good but I'd like to have some more data as well.
Hi Ormand. Hays is a little over 2000ft msl. The Titan S20 had about ~560lbs of passengers and fuel at the time of the video clip. It was climbing at a sustained 1250fpm, with the prop pitched more for cruise. I think takeoff rpm was about 2250 is all. Less pitch would really let the engine rev up into the power. Climb would probably shoot up. Cruise speed was pretty good, though we didn't actually test that out (sorry). I was told it could reach 140mph in the Raven without trouble (will be faster in the S21 outbound for sure). We did some slow flight, which was a non event, and some stalls which were very docile and predictable. At that weight, it would gently break at ~40mph ias. This is with no VG's anywhere on the plane. Touch down speed was also basically 40mph in this config. I don't have an exact take off roll distance, but he pulled it off pretty gently with a little help from the flaps in probably 250ft? If kept light, less prop pitch, and ripping it off the ground as slow as possible, I could see dropping that number substantially. Also possible some VG's would help as well - the 141 metal wing is technically smaller than the fabric 151 wing it replaces, so some VG's might help to bring it down on the slow end! The wing does feel phenomenal in the air, super light controls, quick response, nice flaps!! I love the wing and would like to see if it can benefit from VGs on the slow end. Hope this helps, -T
@@ormandhunter3546 As this was posted in 2018, I have heard that as of Q3 2019, there is a new S-21 wing design in the works? How you heard anything about this? Any ideas as to what they might aim to achieve? I sure hope its a Kitfox STI killer for performance and for STOL capabilities.
@@JeffGillis1 Your question is an interesting one. I do know the S21 utilized a metal wing design that was retrofitted onto the S20 Raven. Haven't heard anything as to a new wing design for the s21.

Brent Johnson hope you are back in the air soon!
Beautiful S-20 Raven you flew!!
Met Randy Schlitter a couple years ago at EAA Airventure. One of the nicest guys in the world.
Really liked that frame jig
Nice video

Great video. I am thinking about building a S21. Almost ready to pull the trigger. Great to see the factory

thanks!
Great video Todd
Thank you Mark!
How much is the plane, please, and is it possible to contact you?
Still saving up for an S-7. Some day...
Nice one one-day I'll but for my own tourist at Serengeti National park

Thank you, Todd! What were the performance numbers on the S20 with the Titan motor? What elevation were you at?
