  • Ok, so you are planning your trip to Japan! Congrats! You will need a transit card for sure. The two main transit cards are PASMO and SUICA. Best to have these ready BEFORE you go to Japan to save you hassle and time. Watch my video for an explanation~
Come take a walk with me~~
The reason why I added the maximum amount before I traveled or even during my travels is because I often go to Japan and I added when the foreign currency rate was the most advantageous. I added when the rate was 1 USD = 145-150 Japanese Yen. That is very good. At the time of making this video, 1 USD is about 141 Japanese Yen, so I got a better rate!
Once you get Suica and/or Pasmo loaded on Apple Wallet, all you do is place your iPhone next to the NFC reader at the subway turnstile and the phone will vibrate quickly and the door will open. No need to authenticate your face first. Very easy and easier than buying a card. No need to open any app nor any need to scan any QR code. Your phone could be locked or unlocked and you can be using any app when placing your card near the NFC reader. EASY PEASY!
Again, all of my travel videos are not sponsored by anyone or any company. I do not have any referral links. All of my travels are done using my own money. I will not annoy anyone by using a funny face in the thumbnail, any clickbait, or anything misleading.

You can purchase a Tokyo Metro 72 hour pass on-line in the US. How do you add this pass to your iPhone Pasmo app - Pasmo will accept it (Suica will not)?

I am actually not sure. If you go to Pasmo on Apple Wallet, there is an option to "Transfer Existing Card". If you click on that, you have to enter the Pasmo ID number and date of birth (which seems to be optional) and you can do it that way. Hope that this helps! There is a similar option on Suica.
