- CAPTAIN BEYOND will be touring again in 2018 with the same superb musicians from 2017. So, here is Bobby introducing the band members at last years first show at ACES LIVE MUSIC, on June 3rd 2017.
We're all looking forward to this years tour but here's a little something to whet your appetite.....
3 guys on strats to fill Rhinos shoes...you all sound great!Bobby amazing...
Amazing!!!!!~ So good to hear that they still sound just as good as 50 years ago.Great job guys. Love your music.
LONG LIVE CAPTAIN BEYOND !!
Mr. Bobby Caldwell,
Thank you from the bottom of my heart, for putting this group together, and keeping that 1st album alive!
You never cease to amaze me with your drumming!
I have had the Japanese CD in my truck since it was released, and it seldom ever leaves the player... and if it does, it goes right back in after listening to something else, as that is where it lives. Lol!
Thanks brother... such a great album that I cut my teeth on, looking through the window pane and other things in the '70's! ;)
Im your biggest fan Bobby!
love this band, since the 70's.
Incredible after all these years... THANK YOU Mr. Caldwell, such an influence to many.
Hey Bob.... In addition to the live show I created 'visualizations' of the entire first album. Here is just one of them, the others can be found on my You Tube channel.....

I hope you find them interesting, like you I am a life long fan.....
As a young drummer in the early seventies Bobby Caldwell was a huge influence on me! Not just Captain Beyond but with Johnny Winter And! Also Rick Derringer! I still love that first Captain Beyond record! Kick ass!
GREAT JOB! Absolutely love this band that Bobby has carefully and thoughtfully put together! Not "thrown together" as one commenter said. These guys are all seasoned musicians with many years in the music biz. Jamie Holka is an amazing guitarist! They all are great musicians and really do a great job playing some of the best music to ever come out of the 1970s. Captain Beyond! Captain Beyond is NOW!
Thank you for the post. I was at this show, in fact you caught a glimpse of me while the credits are running, all the way in the back, white beard. I saw them again in Atlanta at The Earl two months later. Ahh good times and great music. thanks again. Peace.
YEP....I rewatched it and there you were....WAIT.....MOST of the people in the audience had white beards, and grey as well.....well, I guess all of us die hard fans discovered the Captain back in the 70s and if we're lucky enough to be still here, we're old and grey (or white haired). Still, I hope to be a fan for many years yet, and I'm lookin' forward to hearing some NEW music out of the revived Captain.......
I still wish Rod Evans would appear for a show.
But if he did, we'd all regret it. CB's 1st lp was never intended to be played by 70 year olds.
@@labluvver yet drummer caldwell here is 70ish and has the harder job of any band member. It's essy to sing or play guitar or keys when you're old...not so w drums...gotta be in shape. Even more extreme I saw 70s heavy fusion drummer Billy Cobham a few years ago, he's a little older than caldwell, and plays more demanding stuff than most anyone regardless of style or age
Yet another fine job Joe, really good! As I've said before, we drummers cherish the opportunity to get up close and personal shots of the guy sweating it up in the back, which is quite rare; usually it's just the glistening guitars and flashy singer showing up in concert vids. Caldwell is a phenom back there on skins! Thanks...
You are very welcome....
Sounded great. Love this song. Not sure what spider web led me to CB, but i am happy it happened.
Loved this band since my introduction to them in 1975
Thank heavens the original band is captured live in concert on great video. Anything past the first lp and lineup has never come close to achieving what Rhino, Rod, Lee, and BC did. That 1st lp could have been titled "Can't Touch This".
Really good thank you! Love it.
Unstoppable Great Powerhouse! Fantastic Job JOE!
THANK YOU..... I was very blessed to meet Bobby some years ago and then get his permission to come and shoot this show.... he's an amazing musician and other excellent musicians have joined him in reviving this great music......
@@JoeVideo66 Catch them some more we will be checking!!
@@fredcarter2894 Sadly....there are difficulties with shooting them again. There have been no new dates announced.
I shot, edited, and uploaded these videos for free..... I was not paid, and at the time I was happy to do it as a Fan Love project, but it was also a show done about an hours drive from where I live so that cost was also manageable for a retired guy on a fixed income.
IF they were to play a gig near me in the future they would have to approach me if they wanted me to shoot them again, and I would have to think seriously about whether or not I wanted to even do it, because while the fan response has been mostly positive, and several Band Members were also appreciative of my efforts on their behalf, it pretty much stopped there.
Shooting this band was a lifelong Fan's dream come true, BUT I've already done it and I got the T-shirt....
I would definitely check these guys out if they came around.. sounds pretty damn good.
Top Notch! ....and on Lead Vocal & 3rd Guitar Tennessee Ernie Ford! Who Knew?
Caldwell... forever young...🤘
Bloody amazing !
'they are quite good....and it's better than a phone cam post, 'eh?
My favorite Cut!
Outstanding!!!...of course!
Nice AS ALWAYS, Joe!!!
There's no one from the original band except Bobby Caldwell. They played this one well!!!
Nobody lasts forever....
Little known but Van Halen covered Raging River of Fear in their early days and a tape does circulate.....
Saw Van Halen in Monrovia at a back yard party down by the tracks in around 1977, beer cans all the way around the block!
Saw Van Halen in Monrovia back in 77 at a back yard party down by the tracks. They had a dumpster there the next day to pick up all of the cans around the block!
Bobby!!
Hell yeah!! Bobby Caldwell!!
Took forever to find this.
The vocalist sounds pretty good
Only original member is Bobby Caldwell.
I thought THIS was going to suck without RINO....But it's
Not bad at all...YEAH.....
..lotsa geetars
Bobby felt that it was the ONLY way to duplicate the sound of the albums in a live show....
Need a white horse on the stage too . Well done !! 😊😎
Not bad. Respect.
it's like blackmore with this new ronnie dio replacement.
Sorry but for me Rod Evans will always be the voice of Captain Beyond.
That would be nice.
Great Band
OK, Let me start out by saying that I am probably one the biggest Captain Beyond fans of all time, amazing band! The first two albums were fantastic! The third, Dawn Explosion, was kind of a disappointment but ok. ( too commercial for me) I, like others I am sure, will never understand why they never got the recognition they deserved. In my mind they were one of the first super groups with members from Iron Butterfly, Deep Purple and the awesome drumming from MR. Bobby Caldwell, who also seems to have been skipped over as one of the best drummers of all time! With that all said, I believe this current band to be nothing more than a cover band (no offense to Bobby) with the original drummer. Sorry but this is NOT Captain Beyond! By the way, did I count THREE guitar players to cover for Larry's playing? 🤔 🤣
Yes... you did count three guitarists, and the reason is that the first album was, as with most modern recordings, recorded in layers. I agree that Rhino was an incredible guitarist and having him overdub his riffs is one of the incredible aspects of the first album, and ultimately the reason Bobby Caldwell felt he wanted three guitarists to present to the fans the closest recreation of the album.
I am also a huge fan of this band, and with the passage of time and the decision of one of the last two surviving members to step away from music, I guess Bobby felt that, for the fans let's go out on the road, with a bunch of fantastic players, and let them experience this music one more time.....
KILLER!!!!
la rompen !!!!!
Sem Rod Evans , é uma baixa patente , no máximo um soldado.
Wow
California dates????
I keep asking too!
old Bobby has slowed down a bit. wow!
Cooler than Coolx
RIGHT?
Long rumored to exist, finally confirmed: Van Halen playing "Raging River of Fear" in 1974: ua-cam.com/video/wv1OcoZz5fk/v-deo.html
Singing is out of tune !!
Not bad you should hear him without a good monitor!
Cry baby, cry... probably made your mother sigh... you're old enough to know better, so...
Quit'cher belly-aching and appreciate it for what it is!!!
Jeez, some people just gotta bitch about something?!? ;)
Btw, let's hear you do it better, o'kay? ;)
This is amazing. I am living in Holland otherwise I was in the front with their next gig. Take care in this crazy time.
why are they trying to imitate rod evans I know he is not in the music field any more. it's kind of insulting.
Well who else would they want to sound like???
People will always imitate Good Things more than Bad Things.
They are trying to replicate the 1st album so why not?
Probably as close as your gonna get to the original..
