Tim, you & Clint make a good pair. You teach people how to trap food. Clint doesn't teach people to trap, he teaches trappers to be better trappers. Kind of like High School and College, folks can go as far as they want to go with you guys. I did my first commercial job with all I learned from you, and had great success on that job. Then over the years i learned a few tricks from Clint, then used what i learned from both of you, and thieves how to make traps invissible to most. If you can fool a trap thief, you can fool any animal. God Bless for getting me started. What's it been, 15 yrs now? Time travels fast.
Your instructional videos have been amazing. I've learned so much on building the snares. You are an excellent teacher and your choice of words is on target. Keep it up!
Just wanted to say thanks. This was a very informative playlist. I will watch your others for sure. Please keep posting more videos. I really enjoy them and I have learned a lot. Thanks again.
Just finished watching your series. Started me thinking about different ways to put meat on the table. I am a shooter but, as you know, there are times when you're not able to use a firearm. Thank you for these thought provoking videos. Cheers from Australia.
Thank you - it's always good to have options. I've never been to Australia, but would love to visit one day. I am an amateur radio operator and used to listen to Radio Australia on shortwave radio many years ago. I recently met a trapper who who taking training here in the US - he traps Dingos in Australia.
thank you so much for sending me to this link it has help me learn alot and I cut wait to try it and help like u do for your family put food on the table.
That means a lot to me sir. It takes a lot of time and work to make these videos. It's good to know they are of use to people. If you have any questions let me know.
Thank you for the series. I am a complete novice, but you have convinced me that I need to consider ways to provide meat for my family. Very concise and informative. I would greatly appreciate seeing a series on foothold and conibear trapping.
I got me 3 of those sleepy creek #11, and now I'm gonna gather some snare parts.... kinda like how easy and CHEAP the snare stuff is. From a survival stand point less calories used is good. Can't wait to get out and use it.
Great series on snaring! Chris Gilliam got me hooked/subscribed on your channel and podcast. I think I'm going to order some snares and go after some coyotes. It's intimidating starting out, but I appreciate your videos to kick start me!
Be sure to watch my series called "Snare School" - and if you have any questions let me know. Tell Chris I said hi. He's a cool dude - just funny looking! :)
Been through them all. Great series! I just took the plunge buying some snares. I'm excited! I'll let him know you said hi. I'm sure he already knows the rest!
Great Video series, wish I had seen these years ago. I have a comment on the kill pole that you set in the last video. You mentioned that you had a large washer spot welded on top of the kill pole to attach to your snare. But then you used a earth anchor and attached the snare to it. I don't see how the animal is going to wrap itself around and hang itself that way. But I do understand the process you described in using the pole. The only thing I didn't see was using a branch pulled down with a trigger and a snare to catch your prey.
hay meat trapper you should look into using fiber glass fence posts ! I think Clint uses 5/8'' ones for yotes ! I personally use the standard ones from tractor supply for possum
+THE BLACK TRAPPER Hey Buddy, I use the Tractor Supply ones for my beaver snare supports, but only for the snare support - I still anchor to the ground. I've never been able to find a source for the 5/8" ones - but I'd love to check them out if I could find some around here.
+Timothy Schnaekel Thank you very much for the kind words. I really appreciate it as these take a lot of time to make and I only get a little bit of money from the ads. All I ask is that you take the time to click some of the ads every once in a while. It doesn't cost anything and every little bit helps me out. Thanks for watching!
+Larry342516 Remember - you can clip it to the washer with a spring clip; or if you put the cable through it - you are putting the cheap extension cable through the hole - not the expensive snare cable so it doesn't matter if the extension cable gets a little deformed. If that s not clear let me know and I'll make a brief follow up vid.
thank you so much these videos are amazing I have one question .you said to use the washer to clip the snare too but I didn't see you do that in the video since you used the Earth anchor is that why you didn't use the washer or do you run your snare through the washer so they will tangle up high? thank you
Justin Belt Good catch! You were paying attention! You can either clip the snare to the washer OR use an earth anchor. I failed to point that out, so I said one thing and demonstrated another. Either anchor point is fine. The washer helps a high strangle but can bend the pole. Personally I build my snares with anchors on them and I'm in the habit of using them. Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for your time and trouble to develop this information. For all these years I have thought to snare trap you needed bent over saplings and figure four triggers. (do they have any purpose at all thats practical?) Next season I think I might try a few snare sets just to see what happens. Thank you again.
I thought a power cut is where the electricity goes off. That bit of land behind you doesn’t look like a power outage, it just looks like land. I’m confused 😐
I'm a real novice. Do you have a video or PDF of how to approach that which has been caught and 'dispatch' it? I'm assuming that means to kill it. As well as whatever else needs to happen at the place where it has been caught, gut, bleed, etc.
There are two types of sets - lethal sets that kill the animal or drown it, and non lethal sets that catch the animal alive so you can release it unharmed if needed. We use the term "dispatch" because UA-cam is so politically correct and the anti's have a cow if you talk about killing an animal. Anyway, I use a 22 caliber pistol to shoot the catch in the head. After that, you either remake the set or pull everything out if you are done in that place. Hope this helps.
I was able to pick up what you were laying down and pardon my newness but I had a hard time seeing your wire and how you attached it to the kill pole. Painting your wire to make it more visible on camera would help, it blended in too well, which I’m sure is the point.
I applaud your efforts to make a quick retrieval of the animals. As a Christian I won't eat an animal that hasn't been bled properly and rigor mortis is unacceptable to me. I like your ethics.
@@Meattrapper thanks, I'll look for a video that traps females instead of males. We have females here that I'm trying to trap, and your trapping he (male) coyotes

Another great series! Thanks again for sharing your experience and knowledge.
I like the fact that you show us things and say that’s not how you like to do it. I feel like we are getting all the ins and outs of trapping.
Just wanted to say thanks. This was a very informative playlist. I will watch your others for sure. Please keep posting more videos. I really enjoy them and I have learned a lot. Thanks again.
Thank you...I have not used snares before, so your class was very informative and a ready reference when setting up my first snare.
Thanks very much for your time and advice mate
You sure covered it well ,thank you
Thank you for teaching me to be more independent and self sustainable.

You have made a great series that is professional quality. I am looking forward to more. A conibear series would be good to
it's VG i watched all 5 segments!!! liked & thank you!
I'd be interested in learning about Conibear and Leg hold traps. PLEASE do a series on each. Thanks!

Awesome videos have learned allot
What is the purpose of the washer weld on the top of your 5/8 rebar kill Pole
It gives you a place up high to attach the snare. You want the snare attached up high so that when he wraps around the pole he hangs himself.
great vid always learn something. I would like to see a hole set series.
If you wolf fang earth anchor to the ground, what is the purpose of the warsher welded on the top?
The snare is secired to the pole by the washer - it is not secured to the ground.
Thanks for all the tips. My suburban neighborhood is being overrun by coyotes.
Glad to help

PLEASE DO A CONIBEAR AND LEG HOLD VIDEO SERIES. THOSE ARE THE ONES I HAVE THE MOST OF 110# AND #3 LEG HOLDS. GOD BLESS BROTHER.
+contreeman Will do - I'm doing conibears next. Give me a week or so to get the next one out.
How can I pull a earth anchor out of the ground?
Awesome infor. .Migwech
Thank you much
will a 5/8 rebar hold a hog? how deep do you need to drive it?
Does the snare go through the hole in the washer easily without bending the cable? Thank you for the video. Take care.

Enjoyed watching. Old trappers where l grew up used drag limbs or poles. They never lost a catch
Choices! Good one !
+Luther Hitt Thank's Bulldog!
great info ! thanks
Thanks for watching!
Will a kill pole work on a feral cat?
@@joshuam7957 Yes. Cats go apeshit when caught and they expire easily.

None of that figure 4 sapling stuff has use these days. Check my video called "An open letter to primitive trappers" for more on that.
I thought a power cut is where the electricity goes off. That bit of land behind you doesn’t look like a power outage, it just looks like land. I’m confused 😐
Chris the Christian It’s a clearing cut through the woods for power poles and power lines to be ran.
Mwwright79 oh I see 🧐
great series thanks for all the info watched this and the conibear series...thanks again
I'd really like to see you do a series on Conibear trapping.

great vid as always... what was the washer for again?
+Angel Roche It just makes a convenient way to clip the snare to the pole. That's all.
whats is your top 3 traps ???
charles philippe TS-85, Sleepy Creek #11 double long spring and 330 conibear.
thank u so much..and would snares be a possible 4th ??
Question...are the snares reusable?
Joseph Curatolo No, they are twisted and chewed and are a one shot deal.
The body grip video would be cool ...
I was able to pick up what you were laying down and pardon my newness but I had a hard time seeing your wire and how you attached it to the kill pole. Painting your wire to make it more visible on camera would help, it blended in too well, which I’m sure is the point.

Agreed!!
Very interesting but in OHIo it would be illegal as well as any powering device.

why do you keep refering to the coyote as a he ? Will these snares work on a she ?
