Paul Sebastian is one of my grab and goes.. my #2 next #1 Aramis for me.. sad to see she says it’s old. I would say a barber shop vibe for Paul Sebastian.
I’ve always liked aspen. One of my first colognes when I was in jr high along with cool water, eternity, and Ralph Lauren safari. Love what u guys do. Keep that good content comin!
The ones I have: 1. Coty Aspen: A slightly winter-oriented variation on the Green Irish Tweed DNA. Cheap and pretty good. 2. Paul Sebastian Fine Cologne: This 1979 release is my current favorite representative as a fuller, richer, fleshed-out classic Old Spice. Paul Sebastian is much more musky than Old Spice, and has great performance. It has added lavender, which the spicy Oriental Old Spice does not have. Its powdery and great in a simple way. Its also a bit similar to CK Obsession for Men. This is the best of your list. The concept of "dated" in fragrances is interpreted differently for me, and dated is an ASSET to me. I much prefer the scent profiles of older vintage fragrances. They were done so much better back then. 3. Halston Z-14: I was extremely disappointed in this 1970's classic. Lemon Pledge smells more natural, less screechy and more pleasant.
As with any fragrance that we may go back to, remember that many or all of them have been reformulated about fifty times since their introduction... And even though our Olfactory Sense triggers memories, sometimes smelling a re re re re reformulated fragrance doesn't remind us exactly of what we remember they smelled like. I found this to be true of both CK Obsession and Halston 1-12... But after I just received them and immediately decided that they weren't what I remembered, I shelved them both and walked away from them for an entire year. The time they spent with a little air in the bottle from the first few initial sprays and the time they had to "marry" or macerate, made all the difference in the world! I still don't particularly like the opening of either... But as us Old Timers know, it's "all in the dry down" anyway... And BOTH are incredibly pleasing to me in the dry down now. Especially the 1-12... It becomes incredibly full midway through and fades to a skin scent on me after about 5 hours... Perfect for business and more formal occasions. Cheers!

I'm not big on the Bentley Absolute, however, Bentley Silverlake is phenomenal for a summertime fragrance! Great content as usual Teddy and Courtney! 👏
Agreed. Absolute and Intense are very mature scents, albeit very high quality. Silverlake is excellent in summer, more accessible, and also high quality.

It would be really cool for you two to put together a suggestion list for the average Joe, thanks!

I think it just comes down to ease of doing it. We understand it is different with skin but it is harder to pull off and you would need to limit the amount of fragrances you could test.
The opening of Paul Sebastian is not great…. But the dry down on skin.. Say about 1 hour + into the dry down. Smells pretty good. Didn’t surprise me that it wasn’t a like.. KC Black Bold is better… Great cheapie. The OG is ok too..

Z-14 was incredible in the early 80s. Now it's a sad, multi-reformulated mess now. Modern scents that come close are M. Micallef's Desirtoxic, TF Italian Cypress, Roja Apex, and Viktor&Rolf's Spicebomb.

I think I saved my Imaginary Authors Saint Julep. Seems like the grisalva and bourbon or something harsh had sunk to the bottom and got sucked up in the sprayer sucker. It smelled nasty. I shook it up and sprayed everything in the sucker into the sink. Now it's back to its sweet minty boozy self. I'm pretty happy.
Saw Aspen being a part of this and had to click right away. Lol. One of my go to scents in the 90's (highschool/college). Still great today.
Would I expect any complement from Aspen?

The ones I have:

She is consistent, She likes Le Male she likes Luna Rossa Sport she likes 360white and cuba gold all of these have Le male Vibes.
Aspen was the first cologne I wore when I was a teenager and without money. You can't go wrong for the money, it's amazing value

And then they’ll smell different on different people, too, so the most objective smell is what you’ll smell on the paper.
