Apparently a lot of VW Phaeton parts fit this car as they were jointly developed, so if you know the VW part number it's a cheaper way than maintaining it than from a Bentley AD.

Love the vid! Note: dead batteries (Bentley has two) needs a plumber's plunger to pull off tail light - says another video I saw - up to 2010 (or 2011 SS). TRUE??????
These are amazing cars. When I drive mine, I feel like it is the last of the affordable super high quality, high performance GT’s. I bought mine with only 8k miles for $60k, and still cannot believe how much car this is for the money. I have done fluids and filters myself and it is a very easy minor service DIY car.
I bought a 54 plate with 35k on it over 3 years ago, absolutely stunning, £230 insurance, 390 tax, service 600 at a specialist, bargain, especially when my mate paid 1710 for his A4 service 😁 Every mile is a smile
Hi I cannot believe that you pay 230£ for your car as insurance , I have a land rover supercharged 4.2 more than 11 years no claim , and still have to pay 1000 £ insurance , and 630 £ tax how come you just pay 230£ and 390 £ Tax …
Low mileage is still fine provided maintenance record is still good, and car is garaged and on a battery conditioner. Got my identical silver lake blue with maple and cream leather gtc with 26k and cared for. It’s amazing! Complex but stunning.

I was the lucky owner of this car. I say "was", because (in a big way) thanks to this video, I got an offer i could not refuse, and it has now found a new home on the south coast of England. Now searching for something just as beautiful...!
Amazing Gary. Thank you for allowing us to film with your (ex) car. It really was a beauty so I'm not surprised it was snapped up! The leather work had come up amazing. Looking forward to seeing what you go for next.
Things you have to look out for…and the list goes on and on… The rear wheel lugs didn’t get a mention. Top Gear read out the media release from Bentley that some 2006 Bentleys had dodgy rear wheel lugs. My brother was unfortunate enough to get one of those, and one day while driving through the hills noticed that he’d been overtaken by a familiar wheel. It was his. The insurance company wrote off the car and paid him out. He was lucky not to be killed or at least badly injured. Bentleys are poorly engineered lemons. Do yourself a favour and buy a properly engineer car. Buy a Toyota.
Great video. You care to help others who would love to have a Bentley like yours. Your car is absolutely gorgeous. The colors inside and outside. Tge Birdseye Maple is exquisite. Congratulations on owning a vehicle such as this Bentley.
Good video. Love those older Bentley Continental GT vehicles. The design is timeless. An 06 looks fresh and modern for example. Other manufacturers cannot say that outside of Porsche w the 911.
I have a flying spur 2005 when I travel about 10 miles and turn off the engine when i get out of the car there seems to he heat coming from the engine over the wheel its not hot to touch but you can feel the heat in the air but the in car temperature gauge is fine
My mechanic started taking the front bumper and front wing off just to change the headlight bulb so I headbutted him thinking he was dodgy however I apologized because you have to remove them..
I had one for 5 years...2012 GTC model with 50k kilometers. LOVED the car, but it cost me a TON in maintenance and repairs...suspension replaced front and rear TWICE! and two broken quarter windows broken due to the convertible roof going out of alignment...this was the killer for me....plus the depreciation. Great car, head turner, but be prepared to get your wallet out!!
Nice to read an honest appraisal. I have owned a few Bentley's over the years, and I have had very mixed fortunes. One needed nil maintenance, another needed permanent attention. Get the latter and it can soon financially ruin you. On the bright side I got to know a very decent Bentley specialist, and he has totally put me off having a GTC. Seems the roof goes (not if, but when) and they are serious money to replace. In the end I gave in with the marque. Bought a Rolls Royce Ghost last year and it hasn't missed a beat.
Definitely make sure the bushings are good. Our Bentley convertible goes in on Monday for lower control arms and bushings at the dealer. It is under warranty, but if not, it would cost $6,641.00!!!

I was a great admirer of the early Bentley Continental coupes. But the cost of repairs stopped me from buying one some years ago. Liked your video very much, but I would question your comment that the convertible top is very reliable because my friend told me that his son bought a new Bentley convertible and the top mechanism malfunctioned and the dealer could not fix it. Hopefully, this was a rare event, but it did scare me away from this model. By the way, some years ago I checked on the cost of an extended warranty here in the USA. They want $12,000 for a 3-4 year warranty. By comparison, my Lexus had a six year full extended warranty for $1,200 and my Genesis G90 also has nearly the same terms. I would also add that during my search over several years to find the right used Bentley I never once found a car that had its full service records! I could only assume that the car dealers did not want to reveal the true cost of maintaining such a car.
If you buy one it's good to take a serious three he tutorial about common problems . It will make your life alot easier. My only problem was my security system after 5-6 days will run the battery dead. I have battery tender but its a pain. If the batteries run dead its a hassle to get the car started unless you know a few simple tricks. As a side note women really love them they think you have money, I tell nay it's all in the driveway! Gets rid of the schnauzers ..
I have a good friend who is a Bentley mechanic. He told me straight "don't buy a GTC as it's only a matter of time before the roof fails, and it is extortionately expensive as it will need fully replacing when, not 'if' it goes wrong"
Check how big is rear foot mat in Supra MKIV. That is half the size of Bentleys 😁 But great video and thanks for the tips! I’m looking for Continental GT as my daily driver.

When I close the trunk stays close only because of the weight of the trunk but not because it is actually locking so if I was to hit a bump, the charcoal pop open a little bit and make a beeping noise inside the car to let me know that the truck is open. It's a real shame what has happened to Bentley and Rolls Royce after their split. Neither of the famous brands have been able to maintain the respectfull reputation they were founded on. The Bentley Contenential range whilst being a popular fashionable success seems to have created a lot of problems for themselves, like most other common modern cars. That problem is overengineering, which has lost it balance with practicality. People more than ever have the money to buy cars without having to consider their real needs and practicality, as we pay more for things on cars that we can not physically use, but complicating it beyhond practicallity. Cars are being made faster everyday whilst everyday we are restricted more and more by speed limits to slow down, leaving most motorist to just become boasting tyre kickers.
From personal experience, if you buy a Bentley A) It WILL break down at some point B) It won't be cheap to repair C) Bentley won't be interested at all once it is out of warranty
I could not understand what the broadcaster was saying. So I had a dark drink and the show sounded better. I had a second drink of the same and all of a sudden I could understand the foreigner.
Used GT's are better than un-used ones. They don't do well doing too little mileage. I'd quite happily buy one up to around 80k miles so long as it was well serviced personally!

NO.

Had same similar car - worst car I had ever owned. Don’t buy unless you have plenty of money for maintenance.

From personal experience, if you buy a Bentley
A) It WILL break down at some point
B) It won't be cheap to repair
C) Bentley won't be interested at all once it is out of warranty
I could not understand what the broadcaster was saying. So I had a dark drink and the show sounded better. I had a second drink of the same and all of a sudden I could understand the foreigner.
What a beauty !
Awesome video , what would you consider to much mileage on a2009 Bentley gt
Used GT's are better than un-used ones. They don't do well doing too little mileage. I'd quite happily buy one up to around 80k miles so long as it was well serviced personally!
Better with subtitles
after this video finished the next vid on my player is this ...........ua-cam.com/video/JCu6lhonE5Q/v-deo.html..................................yes check the spark plugs i would never have the patients to take the top end off just to change plugs ... thanks for the info and video ...
Why would your mistress be calling your wife’s car?
Nick, anything goes when you drive a Bentley...
Nick, probably also her sister :)
You keep mentioning how expensive it is to repair this and that. There’s no need. Everything, I mean everything about a Bentley is expensive. Replacing one screw on the glove box door will cost you your first child.
Con-nenal I think you mean Continental !
I’m planning buying me a Bentley continental GT before Christmas a gift for myself I’m so excited that’s my dream car I’m looking at 2005 B C GT so classic 🙏🏽🙏🏽😊🤗🤗
Did you get one?
I paid £2,800 for my 1999 E38 728I, 178000 miles WHAT A BEAST , ticks like a swiss watch, and will do 150mph ,so vavavoooom .
NO.
A beautiful car that will try and bankrupt you. Plus you get a Xmas card from your local specialist.
Nice Bentley eh sorry VW / Skoda / Audi
