yeah couple reasons, firstly i really didn't want squash having wheat in hand, and secondly i like having a spare wheat in hand after the city in case a 4 or a 10 roll and the 5 doesn't. at that point I just need a road builder, mono, yop, vp to have a great chance to close the game. so I played it a bit aggressive, which cost me later but could have paid off too.

Mono too early, and wasting knights when you thought the game was locked

Hi, yeah I'm still not sure about the mono, there isn't a lot of ore that can roll on this board and I really didn't want squash or pema getting an early city. Could have paid off for the surprise factor later on, but I felt like I needed to swing the pacing in my favour a little. I answered about the knight play under Burie's comment. I felt generally pretty okay with the decisions there, but especially with the mono it's hard to be sure when you play it early.
