The Trash of Fallout!

- Much to my dismay, this time it is for real. The wasteland is buried under a substantial amount of debris, junk, and garbage from the prewar, and I aim to look at a slice of this delicious junk pie.

I really love the part when he says, "I guess the real trash of Fallout was the friends we made along the way.", and then the Corvega wiped them from the Earth.
so true bestie
So true
So wahr
It’s trashing time!
I liked when he said "it's trash time" and trashed all over the place
The constant undertone of regret and disappointment in his voice throughout this video is palpable and hilarious. If this ends up becoming his most successful video, I can see Radking just staring at a bottle of Radaway like it was whiskey.
I was thinking the same thing. Sorry Radking, I'm not here for the trash, I'm here for your commentary.
Loved this video lmao
We so gotta make this his most successful video.
Yeah im getting a definite tone of ..annoyance.. from it but I can understand. But hey, we are here, we are watching this and leaving likes, and leaving comments.
We love you radking and thank you for being a good sport
@@clothar23 Trash vid TO THE MOOOOOOOOOOON!!!
Ngl I was actually really disappointed that first garbage video was an April fool’s video. The misc and junk items in the games have always seemed fascinating to me, I’m glad someone’s finally looking into it.
I really wanted some in depth anaylsis on sensor modules, those things are so useful and I wanted to know how they were made. But you can definitely tell this isnt a subject he was very interested in talking about lol
I was hoping I'm not the only one.
Yeah I've also been actually been wanting this too
Same
Omfg that was 2023 damn my brain don't work 🤣🤣
I just love how you constantly bring up the fact that you don't want to do this and find it annoying, and expect us to also be annoyed or disinterested, but this is genuinely one of the most interesting videos you've ever put out.
The poor man. We keep this up, he's going to resort to day drinking.
We love you Rad.
RadKing knows what he's doing.
Duct tape, wonderglue, scrap metal, scrap electronics, and a wrench. One persons trash, this womens repair kit treasure

can't wait for the follow up video detailing the garbage of fallout
endy with the real ideas here
Then the waste of fallout
@@skellymen2395 After that one, the Refuse of Fallout.
@@skellymen2395Then the Junk of Fallout
@@The_Forgettable1Then finally, the rubbish of Fallout.
OMG ITS FINALY HERE
edit: 16:28 smh he dont litter, he does what anyone in the wasteland would do and eat the bottle
Omg You’re Right!
Exactly.
Eats unbreakable glass bottle "mmm wash down that caustic nuka-cola."
Hydration and sustenance, all you need to survive the wastland, in just 1 nuka cola bottle
You guys are making some dangerous assumptions saying its glass…. Could be rock candy.. DUHHH
1 hour of trash lore this is truly your magnum opus Radking im truly grateful for this
Finally its done and now its time to do ALL skeletons tier list
It all comes full circle, say you'll talk about trash, lie about talking trash, talk about game trash, get told to talk about the actual trash, and inevitably talk about the real trash. Atom works in mysterious ways.
Karmic rebalancing 👍
...then he talks trash about some of the trash, then further goes on to talking trash about having to talk about trash.
He actually did it. Oh my god. The absolute rad lad.
Best video ever! Learned so much!! Thank you Radking
I’m both happy and disappointed that you liked it so much
@@Rad_KingSpeaking of Happy, maybe you could try doing Artist and Entertainers of Fallout that made the world joy pre and post war.
@@NathanPa-xo3zj I wish I would of thought of that
@@Rad_King May you have plenty of Radioactive Barrels until the day of division, Atom is pleased with your devotion.
[pulls out That Gun] "GARBAGE DAY!!"
"No!"
Noo
he said the name of the guns 100 times in the video and you still call it "that gun"
Radking really is digging through the dustbins for this one.
No no, he did it by request, as stated lol. We asked a lot for this one😂
@@Jkrocsko And then he went digging through the trash to find the trash.
@@JinzoTK😂😂😂 good one
RE: the metal pole and dynamite to get into Mariposa... Dynamite becomes progressively less stable over time as the nitroglycerin within it condenses and even leaks out, in a honey-like consistency. Pre-war dynamite could likely be set off just by throwing a rock at it, no real prep needed... It would be harder to move it around WITHOUT detonating.
Good old sweaty dynamite. The one time a sweaty something is offensive not just in smell.
Prewar money isn't junk. It's priceless as toilet tissue
The books are more useful in that regard.
Funnily enough in fallout 76 you are better off using prewar money as toilet paper cause it is basically worthless
this video is the perfect mom's day gift for the fog mother 💐
We prayed, and Atom delivered.
Historically cans were sealed with lead solder instead of the modern clever system set of compressed folds, and I’d imagine it’s another instance of Fallout’s prewar keeping terrible historical practices that we've abandoned/outlawed. I wouldn’t expect a can to have enough to make even a single 55 grain (-weight of jacket) projectile though.
I think the trays are actually just (waxed) cardboard, not styrofoam (a petroleum plastic).
THE TRASH PIECE IS REEEEEAL
IT'S REAAAAALLLLL
No, it should “THE ONE TRASH! IT’S REAAAALLLL!!!”

A few years ago I got bored and counted all of the sunset sarsaparilla bottles in the HQ and I got around 1000 bottles from inside and the surrounding outside. There's a ton in all of the crates in the loading bay.

Some 3d artists are pretty pleased with you for acknowledging their work I bet
Oh, the vault dweller isn't littering. They were hungry. They ATE the bottle.
It is a bit silly that the bottle is destroyed upon the player drinking its contents but that's likely just a balancing reason to keep the player from just constantly reusing bottles instead of scavenging for more, especially for survival mode.
Me wishing the Junk Jet was actually available as a weapon in F76.
god yes, maybe then I could finally use my 18 quintillion circuitry that I just never need for anything
@@astradotcom I actually go through the npc vendor caps selling circuits and antiseptics, each sell for a cap without perks. I guess not too useful if you're at max caps though
Pre war money can also be used at the bowling alley in the general atomics galleria
You forgot to mention that in the Slocums Joe creation for fallout 4 you can use coffee tins to make your own coffee
Wait what!
@@DutchDude87 yeah, there’s a creation club thing that lets you make your own coffee at stations, it’s called Slocums Joe or something
I can’t wait for the fruit and veggies of fallout
3:36 This might be my favorite joke on this channel, I love how he snuck it in there.
It's hilarious that Fallout's lore is expansive enough to make an hour-long video on the junk alone
Well, 'bottle' and 'tin can' isn't exactly high-tier thinking for 'lore' purposes.
I love when creators start the video with "So my patrons requested this..."
As if to say "Don't blame me, this is your fault, damnit!"
7:47 Technically pocket lint can be useful for starting fires since its very flammable.
The description for the metal pole got me.
I love the “omg I can’t believe I’m doing this” tone 🤣
Did we really get trash of Fallout before the armors of Fallout?
Eh I don’t mind trash is cool!
35:18 scorched books are books about the scorched
You should make a theory video on why 200 years later your still able to find junk in containers and why hasn't it really been picked by either scavengers or raiders.
Well... a lot of this is useless for pretty much anything. Sure, some of it can be scrapped for useful materials, but there are definitely easier ways to get cloth than digging through trash to get a burger tray.
...because it's a video game.
It would have a detrimental impact on exploration if every single location had already been thoroughly looted due to being 200 years post-war.
I've seen people complain about this before, but just think about it. A Fallout with realistic levels of remaining loot would be hardcore survival mode
@@jessep5280 That's the real-world answer, but, believe it or not, we're talking about the lore reason.
@@ALLMINDmercenarysupportsystem sure, if you're theory-crafting a lore explanation, have fun.
I'm just saying, it's clearly just because it's a video game. Bethesda people have talked about the need to _gamify_ certain elements for the sake of fun.
Oh, wait, you're not even the comment I was replying to - you're just speaking for them... Well, okay.
I've always wondered about that. Sometimes you'll see a room telling a pre-war story, somehow untouched for 200 years thanks to a locked wooden door. Sometimes its practically in the open.
The weird thing is these could easily be justifiable by making their owners/creators more recent, but bugthesda is hung up on the idea of glimpsing into pre-war life.
I didn't care for Fallout 4, but what I did enjoy was collecting the "clean" versions of junk, and the other rarer junk items. I would decorate a random settlement with my own room, and the settlers got to have other, plainer rooms.
My fave set up was a desk with ammo and a hunting rifle, couple of fancy lads snack cakes, ashtray, smokes, etc etc.
Anyone else?
This is what I subscribed for. fuck yeah.
A lot of modern steel products are "aluminized". They are sprayed with liquid aluminum. Best example I can give off of my head are car exhausts I believe
IT'S REAL, THE TRASH OF FALLOUT, IT'S REEEEEEEEEEEAL
One man’s garbage is another man’s hour long lore video
I can't believe he missed how prewar money is used in the robot bowling alley to rent a lane and bowl.
Folders!
Yes!
My FAVOURITE part of Fallout Lore!
They're SO important and EVERY Faction uses them!
Right off the bat “for those of you without eye balls” made me laugh way harder than it should. Thanks for the dedication to the fallout games and your people! Great video as always!
Idk why people want a video on trash but your tone and commentary on it is hilarious, so I’m glad we have it!
It started as an april fools joke but we all wanted it
The confusion and slight pain in his voice during the intro made me laugh. We gotta get this video up in views to complete the joke. Force him to make a trash pt 2
They used to solder cans together with lead when they first started making cans oh so long ago.
i recently got promoted and haven’t had the time to deep dive into your videos like i used to, i’m really glad i took the time for this one. amazing work as always
regarding tin cans vs unrusted tin cans, I have to imagine that it's not that the rusting process removes the aluminium, but that the aluminium is what has prevented them from rusting so far, and that they were two different types of cans to begin with before either of them went through the aging process
@21:09 "PFFT Milk Drinkers"
Excuse me sir, this is a fallout channel
I just spent 53 minutes watching a video about junk. I've never been so satisfied with my use of time on UA-cam before. Great video!
Im glad this came out today, i have to work a double, and these help me get through work.
Man I remember like when you was at like 2k subscribers I am so proud to see you grown so much, I really enjoy your content.
And still going in insane amount of detail. Brilliant!
I love playing his videos in the background to listen to while i play FO 76.
This last year of videos have been so good, so easy just to pick any of them to rewatch.
Reminds me of the sonnet Ozymandias:
I met a traveller from an antique land,
Who said-“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal, these words appear:
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.”
Excellent.
Can't imagine being a ghoul that survived the Fall of the Bombs, Societies fall, lived through the years. Just to die after getting beaned in the temple by a jet crazed sole survivor with a tin can flying at mach Jesus.
Common misconception, my dear pastor in Atom, the Junk Jet was cut from our beloved brothers and sisters of Appalachia. There is a model for it in game, but it is unavailable for player use.
I honestly think this might be my favorite video so far I never knew about vault 3 and all their nukacola and milk perhaps an Easter egg about the residence drinking pilk truly thought provoking
@7:38 No my friend you are wrong pocket lint does have a very good use in real life, it is an excellent fire starter for when you are on camping trips.
Even though watching this whole video was a waste of time and was a waste of Radking's time to make I do appreciate the work that went into this lol. He could've just said "Nah not doing that." or half-assed it but no this is legit and I respect that.
Lead from tin cans actually makes sense. Tin cans were originally sealed with lead solder, and this was only eliminated from domestic production in the US (in our timeline) in 1991, and in 1995 from imported goods according to the USDA website.
29:28 dynamite sweats nitroglycerin over time and becomes REALLY unstable. So setting explosives next to the rubble might not set it off, but sharp application of force (smacking it into the rubble at the end of a pole, dropping it, breathing on it too hard, etc) can. So it does make sense if you understand the chemistry. And Dynamite sweating nitroglycerin was a very common trope in older movies that would have been popular at the time the game was being made.
34:50 next up... The junk in Elder Scrolls 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I really loved this I was always intrigued about the pre and post war junk. I think my favorite was the paper weight for how ridiculous it is.
What were the gas canisters for? Fossil fuels were scares before the war, and cars use radioactive fuel...
Smaller, engine based, mechanical implements and machines that were to small to make use of nuclear energy. (Lawn stuff, i.e. lawn mowers, weed wackers, generators, etc)
@@jayl5032 Make sense. We do see allot of lawn mowers in fallout 3
Scrap metal and fisilsion batteries can be made into 50 Sierra Madre caps after you get the perk from talking to Christine which makes the vending machines alot easier to use.
I am one of those who was excited for this video back April lol thank you for finally doing it. Keep up the good work homie
Love this guys videos.
"what's up with floating empty glass bottles" they DO float though. that's the whole idea behind a message in a bottle.
RadKing: "The Trash of Fallout"
Me: "Oh, neat! An hour-long video about Raider culture!!"
FYI regarding your radiation video.
The Glow is so radioactive that it bugs out the games calculations if you wait in the pipboy. Waiting the maximum 6 hours causes the per minute calculations to be lower, while shorter waits give higher per minute.
Your best bet for a fully accurate count is to MASH the Geiger counter button. If you wanna avoid wasting time to check the Pipboy, set a TNT timer for 3 minutes that will finish for you. The numbers at The Glow are a staggering 30 Rads per click, which at around 2 and a half clicks per second is 75 Rads/second. You will use up the battery of your geiger counter in less time than the TNT takes to run and you will be well into the thousands.
Nowhere else in the game does that or really has much radiation at all(There's a small random chance of being irradiated everywhere in the map, especially at Necropolis and LA, but it's low and random so seemingly in universe you might just occasionally walk on-top of a hot spot or random hot particle on occasion).
I am curious if this method results in higher numbers at the two radioactive locations in 2, The Power Plant and The Toxic Waste Dump.
Early metal canning often used lead sodder to attach the lid to the can, perhaps this is why lead can be found in some can variants, i wouldn't put it past the prewar corpos from using the cheapest canning process possible.
In fallout 4 the Mr Handy at the bowling alley only accepts prewar money unless you pass a very high speech check
I'd expecte Pre-War Money to be primo toilet paper, assuming anyone is still using TP in the first place.
One of the best FO4 mods is the one that enables filling bottles in non-Survival game modes.
Man, now i have to make a pre-war money rock-it launcher build now 🤣
This is BY FAR your best content to date.
Has nothing to do with the items, it's all about your delivery.
You compelled us to watch a video on virtual trash!
absolutely the best The _____ of Fallout episodes AND its almost a full hour long! thank you so much for doing this! i learned SO MUCH about the trash of fallout! some items i didnt even know existed!
32:10 Aluminum is widely known for its ability not to rust, so perhaps it has a thin Aluminum coating that kept it preserved. Besides ideal conditions.
Happy mothers day! Glad to see an appropriate video celebrating the real heroes - trashy moms
Todd Howard needs to drop a new game asap, the lore scholars are literally out here examining garbage 💀
he did, and it's trash so it might be in a future video
Thank you for your hard work! I watched the whole thing and thanked it. Hope the next one is easier on you.
First rad king video in a while- definitely worth coming back to this channel... for the best video yet!
I’ve seen most of your videos all the way through and this has to be my favorite
Ok guys this was such a dam fine vid, we need a poll for "the trash of fallout vol. 2" love the vids radking ty.
@31:30 or so: not all "tin cans" are actually aluminum or, indeed, tin. Most in the 1950s would have been tinned steel, and aluminum cans gradually replaced them starting in the 60s. Presumably, the Unrusted Tin Can is unrusted because it actually has a layer of aluminum, while the rusting kind were just steel cans (with or without a thin layer of tin that has been lost to the 200 years of weather.)
Absolutely amazing video. Thank you for taking the time to make this. :)
33:17 cans a long time ago used to be soldered shut with lead, which is probably what the game is referencing. It's like how you can get asbestos from cigarettes as well as they used to have asbestos filters!
I have been waiting for you to make this video. I'm legitimately excited to see it.
Actually the dryer lint is useful for one thing and wouldn’t necessarily be bad to have around in the post apocalypse. That use is a fire starter, it’s quite useful in that regard otherwise yes it is useless.
hanger rant
i must add the fallout clothes hanger is most likely a capped hanger ( triangle hangers with tissue paper to prevent imprinting) that the paper was destroyed its due to the sharp angles and it not having a collar form that makes me come to this conclusion
also why the heavy gage
It's a fallout game, but your vault is heavily naval oriented. The game takes place on the ocean, and you can discover new lands. become a privateir or a pirate or a trading company. There would be multiple factions and tons of islands to explore and colonize what do yall think. You could upgrade your boats and slowly build up a crew.
The coffee tin is one of the rarest crafting materials in Fallout 4! You need it to make Slocum's Buzzbites.
38:30 you really don't even need to collect overdue books. The Raiders at Revere Beach station all have book tokens in their inventories, and they respawn frequently.
This is one of the videos ever, my favourite part was when he said “it’s garbaging time atombros” and then radiationed every where.
Cans used to be welded with lead. They only stopped recently in the 90s.
16:35 Actually since it appears that the bottle isn't on the ground after drinking, it would theoretically be more reasonable to assume that the lone wanderer eats the bottle
