      Agreed. Not much challenge if you have a fish finder showing you exactly where the fish are. Not much skill there. I know all the Bill Dance wannabe's are gonna cry now but the average bass boat "angler" has dropped tens of thousands of dollars into gear from boat and motor to rods and reels and electronics to make up for their lack of knowledge like fisherman from decades ago. They may as well be dropping nets.
      I see old guys on the bank with rod and reel or even a cane pole easily outfishing guys in their $80,000 boats who spend more time watching a screen than they do reading the water and the terrain. May as well be playing a video game.

      Opposite - there are much fewer here in the states (comparatively speaking to them, we have a bunch but nothing like them) but Carp are barely targeted here - most places consider them trash fish in the states (just a fact not my personal opinion I enjoy carp fishing). Europe has a much higher population of carp but they are hit so hard. Take the popularity of bass here in the states, multiply that by 10 and you have the popularity of carp over there. Curious question - not to drum up anger. Here in the states - we have a serious pay lake problem with Trophy Catfish. They steal wild cats, put them in these types of ponds, they die off in a few months (if they are lucky), then rinse and repeat. Trophy catfish just can't be sustained in small ponds like this, it's animal cruelty to the max. They are intentionally not fed, they spike the water with chemicals to irritate fish into biting. It's truly a disgusting act.
    Across the pond - it appears you also have Pay Lakes by evidence of this video but for Carp. Carp are much much easier to keep alive in small environments, cheaper food, etc. Do you guys experience the same back lash there as we do in the states? Are the carp in your lakes cared for and taken care of? Or is it the same situation there as it is here? Stolen from the wild - put into a pond, malnourished, to inevitably die in a month?
    From what I know about Carp, and the local fish farms around here they have no issues growing and maintaining carp in enclosed environments - I don't think it would be astronomically expensive to maintain a healthy population by feeding them. If your Pay Lakes aren't destroying the wild and they are self-sustaining, man I wish they would adopt that in the states. Our trophy Catfish paylakes are quite possibly one of the most inhumane things done to animals on this earth by humans. It's worse than dog fighting rings.
    Edit - from the comments it appears the only back lash are the "superior self entitled" fisherman who just think this is easy. If something like this made UA-cam from an American PayLake, the comments would be 99% hatred towards the owner of the lakes, the fisherman, filled with death threats etc - and rightfully so they're scum for what they are doing. But reading down the comments and seeing the lack of hate, I have a feeling I answered my own question.

    • @RobHughesTV
      @RobHughesTV  2 роки тому

      We've heard about pay lakes over here but that's not what these are. They certainly don't sound good. One of the things that is really important to UK anglers and the fishery owners over here is fish welfare. They certainly don't take fish from the wild, they either breed their own or buy them from regulated and registered fish farms. The water quality is regularly tested and aerated and the fish are well fed. Over here carp are highly prized. Many European anglers find it highly offensive that US "anglers" bow fish for carp and simply throw them away. I'd say respect is the key. To each other, to each others sports, to the environment and certainly to the fish. Imagine motorsport competitors hating on other motorsport disciplines. They have respect. Anglers seem to like to argue with each other.
