I wasn't expecting to play my priest a lot, but the idea of having your own talking loremaster weapon that comments on everything as you travel with it is fucking rad
Cuz people are bitches with nothing better to do then bitch, bitch, bitch how much you wanna bet that if it was male they would be bitching none of the artifacts were female
He could easily make a cameo appearance like the Lich King is and Azshara likely will. It will probably set up something for a future expansion. Some old gold forces make an appearance in legion anyway
Technically there are many hints of him in legion. The nightmare,Xavius's sudden return,Azshara finally making a move after years,The quotes made by xalatath such as "the god within the deeps is breaking from his prison already".
The dagger can easily be speaking lies as well. Is tough to know what is true and what is lies. Though do enjoy the idea of the Naaru being evil force that lies to gain our support. We can't trust the Naaru and I've been saying that for years now, is something fishy about them.
The talk about the Naaru was really interesting but the thing thought got m conspiracy gears turning was the reference to the struggle between the light and the void as being "the eternal conflict" 6:53 i'm always looking for connections between all the blizzard universes and to my knowledge this is the first time the greater battle going on in the Warcraft universe is refereed to by the same term as the major conflict in Diablo.
The 'Curse of Flesh' is something that's been in the game since at least Wrath of the Lich King (possibly even earlier, though I'm not sure). In WotLK it played a pretty big part in the lore. It was revealed that the Vrykul, Iron Dwarves, and Mechagnomes were creations of the Titans, meant to safeguard Azeroth from the corruption of the Old Gods. They failed. Yogg-Saron was able to influence them with the 'Curse of Flesh.' The Vrykul lost their metallic bodies, but, overall, retained their worship of the Titans. The curse progressed, and later generations of Vrykul were born small and weak. These were the first humans, and the Titan Watcher Tyr brought them south from Northrend to safety, first settling in Tirisfall Glades, then eventually Stromgarde. The Iron Dwarves were twisted in two distinct ways, some becoming the dwarves we see now, while some acquired a more devolved form, becoming Troggs. The Mechagnomes simply became gnomes. The fact that Xal'atath refers to it as "The Blessing of Flesh" is fitting. To the servants of the Old Gods, being physically altered by their masters would definitely not be seen as a curse. Additionally, while it may have just been a means to an end for Yogg-Saron, it was still an improvement over the Titans' inherently flawed constructs. Xal'atath, Yogg-Saron, and the other Old Gods would most likely have recognized it as such.
The gift, or curse, of flesh gave the races of the Titans free will. The constructs of the Titans have stayed the same for eons while humanity evolved past them in that time. It is why we were able to defeat Ulduar. Yogg'Saron in an attempt to doom humanity may have actually saved it with his blessing.
HAHAHAHA!!! This dagger is amazing! She shares such delicious knowledge. N'zoth writhes in his prison indeed, and it seems the god of death is not completely finished. Lets hurry up and finish all this business with the Legion. A greater darkness casts a shadow on this world. One that has put fear in the heart of even the dark titan... >]
Her comment on the naruu gets creepier the more I think on its implications. Every light burns out, every life returns to its original state of nonexistence. _Ia ia xal'atath, shal'nigurab, mrglglglgl....._
Here is a bit of the official background information: "There are many theories concerning the blade‘s creation. The more outlandish claim that it is all that remains of a forgotten Old God who was consumed by its kin in the early days of the Black Empire. Other theories state that Xal'atath is the claw of Y'Shaarj, ripped from the Old God's monstrous form and bestowed upon its servants for use in ritual sacrifices." Right off the bat, we can cross out the dagger being an extention of Y'Shaarj, since first: Y'Shaarj is dead; and second, she seems to be rooting for N'zoth...And yet, she also seems to eager to urge her weilder to prepare once The God of the Deep arises (The God of the Deep writhes in his prison, breaking free ever so slowly. You should hurry and defeat the fallen titan... there are greater battles yet to fight.). Could Xal'atath be biding her time and strike at N'zoth once he shows himself to absorb his form and return to her old glory? What if the weakest Old god is not N'zoth but Xal'atath all along? Mentions of her gleeful to consume the power of other Old God Minions in spite of something done to her (We may face some of my brethren in this conflict... a prospect that delights me. Their power will be mine! They will pay for what was done to me long ago.) makes me think the "outlandish" theory might be the closest to the truth here.
I mean, it is just an artifact appearance. Since you can use any appearance and seemingly you shouldn't be able to just change its appearance lore wise it wouldn't make sense for that to be the only canonical appearance. Half of the hidden artifact weapon appearances involve abandoning your weapon altogether to wield a different one. >The challenge appearance for elemental shaman is basically you opting to use Rehgars gear
Im new to wow and i rolled a Demon Hunter but i swear, Spriest artifact adds a whole new lvl to the whole experience. The artifact itself is a character. Might have to roll a Spriest
Well, don't forget that Xal'atath is trying to manipulate you. It's real voice would provably drive crazy any mortal. However for now, it needs you, and for now, It might be smarter to sound pleasant until the momoent to reveal it's true intentions have come. It's just doing the same thing that Yogg'saron did with Loken.
+ZzBoltQxx2 Spriests aren't virtually worshiping the void, the usage of the knife artifact is essentially a last measure as the invasion has spiraled out of control. Also, the fact that the entity residing in it is essentially purring honey in the Spriest's ears (in a sweet voice ,in contrast to the maddening voices of all the other void or old god related beings, enforces that opinion) means that the Spriest is essentially being lead to believe that he's in control of the situation when in reality he's not.
The way I see it is most Shadow Priests delve into magic they 'think' they understand/control. And while they manipulate the magic and power that the artifact gives, they do not stop to realize that the artifact is controlling them. No sane mortal would want the gift of the Old Gods (sane being the operative word here).
Battle looks to have a lot of old god related content so we’ll have to see. Something tells me that Xal’atath won’t take kindly to being “consigned to history”
Grant X Well, yeah the dagger said that, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's talking about N'zoth. Perhaps it means us the heroes / good guys, the Legion, or just lost servants of the Old Gods who are being a bunch of idiots (like how the mantid served the Sha and messed everything up.) The dagger also says some stuff about Yogg-saron, going so far as to say "brother." It's possible that the dagger is N'zoth, or even an artifact of Y'shaarj.
Grant X Also, where did you find out that the artifact is an Old God? I'm trying to find sources but can't, not saying I don't believe you I just wanna read up on this.
My Spriest got to 110 today and I always wondered what woman spoke to me during all the questing till i remembered that Xalatath speaks to me. Iyyä Cthulhu Fhtagn!
No. N'Zoth is by far the most cunning. That's why he's dangerous. He may very well have been the weakest, physically, of the old gods. But tactics and cunning strategies win wars. Just look at the Deathwing situation. If Deathwing wins, the final cataclysm happens, IE N'Zoth is free of his prison. If Deathwing loses, the only way to defeat Deathwing is the Dragon Soul, which would consume the power of the other Aspects. In both scenarios, N'Zoth wins, either a big win, or a smaller victory, by eliminating the Dragon Aspects immortality, which you saw with Y'Sera and Xavius. That's what he does. Rigs a scenario where he wins, no matter which outcome happens, hence why he's the most dangerous.
12:38 - I love that line, even if its somewhat hypocritical coming from a creation of the Old Gods, given how the same could be said for a lot of their servants. "This one can drive you insane/fights with innumerable tentacles!"

I only listened to this video a little bit. I have been intentionally disconnected to most of the content shared and posted because I want the storylines in Legion to be fresh when I play them. Shadow Priest was my first Alt in Vanilla, and became my main in parts of WotLK and every other expansion that has followed since. I have always loved the Spriests style, utility, and rotation. My mastery of the rotation in Cataclysm left many fellow caster raiders consistently behind me, frustratingly clutching their legendary staves. I can't see maining anything but my Protection Warrior or Blood DK, but I absolutely cannot wait to play a Shadow Priest in Legion. I don't know if I will be able to wait very long. I am so very excited about Shadow Priests!

Wonder what "she" means with the origins of the Tauren, have they connection to the old gods? Since they are pretty much ,besides Trolls/Goblins, the only race that evolved without Titan influence on Azeroth
goblins are also creation of the titans. Trolls are the only true native playable race of azeroth. The rest are either titan creation, evolved from trolls ( night elves etc. ) or alien ( orc, draenei )
Molhedim where are goblins creations of the titans, they have no titan forged relatives. And you forgot Tauren, they evolved on their own too, doubt the have connections to Titans or even trolls

this weapon manipulates you, if you want madness, play all the old gods whispers at the same time at a moderate volume, thats the closest to falling into madness that you can simulate i think.
Every old god sounds freakishly scary and gives you chills. Every old god except this one, she sounds more aluring. I think she would have been a frighteing boss.
who is it that does her voice? 11:53 is the one that get's my attention "when do you think she turned, centuries ago? She hides her hunger for power behind a cloak of suffering and righteousness.." uh.... if it wasn't for the centuries I'd ask 'Jaina?' but centuries... Helya? Wish it said where the dagger says these
From what I can gather from Shadow Priest mains, her whispers are pretty far and few between. It would help those of us who don't main/alt one If you (or anyone reading this for that matter) could find the context in which these whispers are spoken, or point me to a source that already has them, it would help my crazy speculation.
i really hope they are setting up a future old gods expansion here! If they resolve all of this in a patch it would be so disappointing. additionally: it would be really weird to kill n'zoth with xal'atath in hand. i mean that thing would definitely make you absorb the gods power
Don't talk to me or my knife wife ever again.
That... Was actually really funny, thanks for the laugh :D
I've already begun referring to her as my Knaifu.

Mai knaifu.

Blizzard to shadow priests: You get *an old god.*
blizzard to rogues: Here's some daggers.
Hey, linear warriors, quadratic casters.
I mean the kingslayers were kinda cool.

I really hope N'Zoth isn't in Legion, I think it deserves an expansion to tell more Naga lore and such with it.
Obviously he'll be in Azshara expansion. There's no place to fit him into Legion, we have no time to fillers during the "biggest legion invasion yet"
He could easily make a cameo appearance like the Lich King is and Azshara likely will. It will probably set up something for a future expansion. Some old gold forces make an appearance in legion anyway

really wigs me out that the blade refers to it as "the gift of flesh". definitely interesting dialogue overall
The gift of flesh. The gift of mortality. The gift of being able to become something else.
The gift of being obedient servants.

Xal'atath speaks of betrayal. Perhaps Xal'atath was an Old God itself that the others betrayed.
Hidden artifact appearance name is Claw of N'Zoth.
No subtlety here.
Here is a bit of the official background information:
"There are many theories concerning the blade‘s creation. The more outlandish claim that it is all that remains of a forgotten Old God who was consumed by its kin in the early days of the Black Empire. Well, yeah the dagger said that, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's talking about N'zoth. We've known N'zoth is, strength-wise, the weakest for a long time. What he is the best at is manipulation.
that bit about the tauren is interesting. what is their origin?
My Spriest got to 110 today and I always wondered what woman spoke to me during all the questing till i remembered that Xalatath speaks to me. Iyyä Cthulhu Fhtagn!
12:40 Such a sarcastic little weapon
N'Zoth was never the weakest. he was so strong that Cthun and Yogg had to team up even to hold his armies at bay.
perhaps that is why he is called the weakest, as the alliance of Cthun and Yogg made them much stronger
No. N'Zoth is by far the most cunning. That's why he's dangerous. He may very well have been the weakest, physically, of the old gods. But tactics and cunning strategies win wars. Tremble, mortals, and despair! Doom has come to this world.
So Galakrond was corrupted by the old gods :O
It was talking about Neltharion/Deathwing.Galakrond was never an aspect.
+Nazmi Ahmad She talks about both Neltharion and Galakrond.Watch till the end please.
+Oguzhan kaygısız She didn't say they corrupted Galakrond, just that he's long dead.

It would be nice to get some relevant information about where these whispers are from.
Erik Le Blanc Pleym they are from the knife
Every old god sounds freakishly scary and gives you chills. Every old god except this one, she sounds more aluring. I think she would have been a frighteing boss.
who is it that does her voice?
11:53 is the one that get's my attention "when do you think she turned, centuries ago? She hides her hunger for power behind a cloak of suffering and righteousness.." uh.... if it wasn't for the centuries I'd ask 'Jaina?' but centuries... Helya? Wish it said where the dagger says these
This phrase is prompted when you come up to Cordana Felsong, actually. In Vault of the Wardens.
so are you thinking it means Miaev? (however you spell it) because Cordana only recently turned
No it talks about Cordana. It probably implies that Cordana was working undercover for the Legion.
[ASMR] dagger whispering insanity talk
Jesus this thing is like a politician it never shuts up but somehow manages not to say anything
Mess with my Knaifu, and I take your liafu.
N'Zoth Next Exp.... I pretty Sure for this..
guys don't forget that the text of the weapon says "don't believe her lies" maybe she is just lying
From what I can gather from Shadow Priest mains, her whispers are pretty far and few between. It would help those of us who don't main/alt one If you (or anyone reading this for that matter) could find the context in which these whispers are spoken, or point me to a source that already has them, it would help my crazy speculation.
The Tauren origins?? What does she mean??
Xalatath should be the final boss of a raid next expansion.
meanwhile, in November 2023, this actually came to pass. Azj-kahet final boss
kinda reminds of galadriels monologue at the start of lotr
8:25 ....Possible Corruptted Alexstrasza Foreshadowing?
Do you need to be shadow or holy and disc can hear her when is mogged too? Please help ty
i really hope they are setting up a future old gods expansion here! If they resolve all of this in a patch it would be so disappointing. additionally: it would be really weird to kill n'zoth with xal'atath in hand. i mean that thing would definitely make you absorb the gods power
Oh my sweet summer child
@@courtneya9731 There is still a possibility, I REFUSE TO BELIEVE THAT THE MOST INTELLIGENT GOD WAS KILLED BY A LASER OF FRIENDSHIP
