Interesting! I believe this is the time when she approached Arvo Pärt and started to gain interests in atonal music and minimalism, hence the Schoenberg sample. My music theories all came from UA-cam, and I can probably only understand 30% of the content in your videos, but it’s still immensely enjoyable. Love your works!!!
If I remember right she said in one interview that when she was a child she didnt like to play old european classic musics on her flute and because of that her teacher show some atonal pieces and she like it more. If you have any question about music theory you can ask here, because maybe my english wasnt clear because english is not my first language.
It's very strange how dark snd gloomy it sounds on a midi piano. Of course the overall tone isn't exactly happy and exciting but there's a happiness about it yet theory wise it's supposed to be dark.
Yes. I think the dissonance becomes more clear with the midi sounds. I also noted the first note of her melody wrong. It's should be E and I wrote F. Someone said here that she sing something between these two but it's closer to E.
I sometimes think music majors (western, so notation and harmony 97%) have this byzantine debates over whether Lady Gaga's is doing a ritornello AB AB C AB or rondeau variation, hell I once listened to how seamless pop songs can become fugues or passacaglias like dido's lament and other sordid tales. Very first world problems, indeed, Bjork, Radiohead and many others took lessons/went to study; Bjork in particular somewhere somehow learned Orchestration (reading berlioz maybe in her punk years?) for big symphonic orchestra a la Berlioz/tchaikovsky; extremely niche even today. I bet if asked and pushed she will admit it but wont go into detail because too idiosyncratic for her to be tone deaf about it
I hear the first note of the vocal melody as an E instead of an F. Anyone else? I think it is in between the two but closer to E. Awesome content btw, keep it up!
Hi, I used a spectogram do write the melody since my ear isnt that good. The note is indeed right in betweem E and F imgur.com/a/ImSNWUk but since the software was saying it was an F i use F. But looking again she start sliding the note and the very first bit is an E and If I play an E note while she sing it sound more in unision than the F. I dont know if she is using a different tuning or using quarter tones.
There's a lot of inacuracies in the MIDI transcript. I don't want to sound like I'm dissing the video creator, who did an honestly antastic job meditating on the song's inner workings and rendering the info visually-but hell, the central riff is wrong.

@@augusto7681 Wow she is even more awesome than I imagined. Looks like creative artists always have "kinks" in their artistries
How beautiful is the Doric mode. The suspended chords also give it a very beautiful mystique.
this is so cool this is why bjork is such a great artist
So excited to find your channel!! So thankful for your analysis 🙌🙌🙌

Hi Augusto I really apreciated your work, especially in the first analysis. I wonder if you could do the instrumental for this song? Please

@@augusto7681 care to do An Echo A Stain? It's one of my absolute favorite songs
@@vleaky3430 I already made a video of this music. But I dont explain the harmony just the elements.
@@augusto7681 it would be awesome if u did. I think tehre's room for exploration 😃
Love it
Just want to say, the melody at the beginning is suppose to be B-A-F-A-B-D-E-D-B. Which would place in B Locrian
Well done! could you do "unravel"?
An harmonic analysis or just instrumental ?
Augusto
It's such a beautiful song... I would say harmonic, but instrumental too would be delightful! you'd know better than I :)
well done m'dude

The red chords are so iconic omg
I always thought it sounded quite dark. I would describe this song with this emoji 🤨
