I would put Black Panther with the likes of Iron Man. Heavy on story, light on action but still really good movies overall. Hopefully the sequel is more action packed with the balance of a good story.
Black panther as a character was downplayed compared to his comic book and animated counterparts. Him being one of top 5 favorite superheros of all time, since I was 11. This movie disappointed me to the core.
I didn't really find him downplayed considering the fact that he is still in his early stage of him being the King of Wakanda and Black Panther so he is going to make some mistakes and have flaws similar to how Cap was in the CA movies and by the time Winter soldier was released, he was on a whole new level. Maybe it was because I kept my expectations at a moderate level was the reason I din't feel disappointed as I wasn't expecting anything that would exceed my expectations and most were met besides the action and some CGI bits.

Vlad smoking and his top 5 trash! Black Panther is definitely top 5! There are so many messages and themes in Black Panther. The dialogue was so smart and on point. Characters actually had completed story arcs. Characters actually grew and changed throughout the movie. It wasn't just black and white but it had gray elements. Characters were complex and had their own motivations and beliefs.

To be honest, I thought Black Panther was ok. The hype set my expectations way too high, and it didn't really deliver for me personally. But I do like the way Black People were portrayed in the movie though.

Vlad smoking and his top 5 trash! Black Panther is definitely top 5! There are so many messages and themes in Black Panther. The dialogue was so smart and on point. Characters actually had completed story arcs. Characters actually grew and changed throughout the movie. It wasn't just black and white but it had gray elements. Characters were complex and had their own motivations and beliefs.

I liked black panther, I bought the blue Ray, but there was too much hype. I thought it was going to be 10 times better due to the hype. I'm a black panther fan too. I collected his comic book as well. But there's like 10 marvel movies better than black panther. I'm glad I have it in my collection of movies. It's a good movie.
To be honest, I thought Black Panther was ok. The hype set my expectations way too high, and it didn't really deliver for me personally. But I do like the way Black People were portrayed in the movie though.
