Great clip - brings back so many memories - I did it 30 years earlier. Lovely to hear the German - and their constant encouragement. Well done mate. I paid £400 in 1983. To those who think it is a doddle - sure go to Hohbalm; and then go to the Graveyard by the Zermatt Church and read the words. You pay the guide £800 to tell your story - alive. (Nicks dad) HUGE respect.
This clip is more complete than any others I have seen. GoPro uses wide-angle lenses thus I am looking forward to an non-distorted view in the future. Yet this give me better idea of what this is all about. Thanks!
Superb!! A relatively calm day. Your guide seemed less 'pushy' then others. (I heard some can be very pushy). How much did he charge for his service? Does he speak English?
yeah its because of the fisheye lens. I noticed it the first time I took my go pro skiing with me because the steep as fuck runs that scared the hell out of me looked almost flat on the go pro and it kind of pissed me off because it made the terrifying run look like nothing. Haha its just the fisheye lens. Its awesome for a lot of things but it completely annihilates depth perception
What if the client falls??? The way I see the guide handling the rope and not being tied to any bolt while belaying..... how come??? Another thing, he is coiling up the rope in his hands !!!.. huh ?????
ironie3, could you explain what is the point of being attached to the rope when neither the rope nor the climbers are attached to the rock? (P.S. I'm a beginner in rock climbing and mountaineering, so I'm not trying to argue - just want to understand)
iiii Its a mountaineering technique called short-roping. It would take days for them to climb this thing with fixed belay anchors. Under icy conditions that is probably deadly.

I would shit my pants and cry if I went up there
Same. The nonchalance with which they walk across ice and tiny rocks amazes me!
No music Thankfully. Excellent vid!
haha that's so right! it is so rare to find these kind of movies without music in the background
Exactly

Ja pierdole
This is the best Matterhorn climb video i ever seen, great material for the enthusiastic people who wanna try this:)
It's so scary
Hammer Video.
what scares me most is the fukin way down :D
Sign me up. . where do I post my cheque book ?
Awesome film, wish I could understand the language. ..I'll do it in a helicopter..
Grande guida e cliente poco preparato
Alles so schön hier, so schön hier...
You are fucking men. I climbed matterhorn when I was 18 in 1985 but turned back in blizzard in August. It is still my no. I on my bucket list.
Fantastic clip, thanks for posting
Beeindruckende Bilder und ohne musikuntermalung. Welche Kamera kam dabei zum Einsatz?
my palms are so sweaty now. nice climb
I hear a woman laughing in the background..........nervous laugh????.......before the fall???? oooops!!!I need English subtitles please........
Superb!! A relatively calm day. Your guide seemed less 'pushy' then others. (I heard some can be very pushy). How much did he charge for his service? Does he speak English?
how are they gonna get down?
+odo980 there is a part 2 and a part 3 of this movie
Çok güzel bir tırmanış. Sehr schön. Beautiful !
I don't think the guide used protection because this seems more like a steep hike than an actually rock climb where protection is a must
he kept throwing the rope behind rocks as some sort of anchor, he was also not using an atc/ belay device
josh parsons Most of it is a scramble , speed is of the essence , no point in tying in at every section .
***** its the matterhorn... the camera makes it look like its not steep. trust me it's steep
..not bad..not bad at all.. - camera makes it look flat and not so steep but IT IS STEEP there.. and so many people..
Nein danke
Very nice video :-) Well done :-) I hope you will be back in Zermatt this summer :-)
The camera angle gives off an odd perspective. Makes it look less steep than it really is.
this is exactly the first thing I thought as I saw this. Looks very extreme :-)

I think you mean it makes it look steeper than it really is .
Isobel Babington nope. I meant exactly the opposite of that. It makes it look much less steep due to the distortion that a fisheye lens creates.
One of them didn't have a safety rope. Blue Jacket, and Yellow Jacket at around 21:00
It's getting crowded up on top isn't it??? How the bleep are they going to get down before dark?

BEAUTIFUL !... Thank you for sharing this on YT !
05:02 He spits on him :D ;) little joke. Respect this looks amazing.
Who's the guy with the yellow gloves? Is he a guide?
They have balls, bigger than this mountain
strange this guide,he is not using any protection
Your not going to be able to haul somebody up the edge of a cliff with a rope by yourself. This is a false sense of security
+MikeR-Tank You know nothing (about mountaineering rope techniques).
ironie3, could you explain what is the point of being attached to the rope when neither the rope nor the climbers are attached to the rock?
(P.S. I'm a beginner in rock climbing and mountaineering, so I'm not trying to argue - just want to understand)
I mean situations like for example 4:45. There are parts where they clip the rope into carabiner - there I understand the point.
iiii Its a mountaineering technique called short-roping. It would take days for them to climb this thing with fixed belay anchors. Under icy conditions that is probably deadly.
19:34 WOW!
can believe the matterhorn is bolted:)
If you turn it into a tourist route it has to be .
There but for the grace of God, go I...
Traumhaft! 230,- €. Super-Bergführer.
TOP!
so, how do you get down?
Steve Stadler like this: 10:40
jump
does the camera lense exagerate the slope of the climp or is it really as steep as it looks
It is
ahmed89au google images "matterhorn"
I'd say it's even steeper than it looks like...
sick
Zu Befehl Bergführer
Dein ernst
Parate, parate! ok komm! :)) kinda mixing spanish and german!!
No thanks. Humans aren't birds. Or mountain goats. Just stay the fuck down or take a helicopter! Lol.
CAN I FART AT THE TOP
