I’m on my way to the 2024 Olympics in France. This time I took the train it took us three hours to get there. I must say it was really comfortable. We were really lucky to get a really reasonable Airbnb in Paris.

Highest respect to the gentlemen that built that cathedral - unreal craftsmanship 🤩
The cathedral was built over 600 years, from 1248 to 1880.
To this day, constant maintenance and renovation work has to be carried out on the building. It is a permanent construction site and involves immense costs every year.
There is a joke among the people of Cologne:" If Cologne Cathedral is ever completely finished, the world will end."
@@HeTi226 that is absolutely incredible. No cranes or modern machinery 😳 I can imagine alot of money for the upkeep but to loose it would be terrible. Do they charge a fee to go inside & a tourist shop to help towards the costs? 🇳🇿
@@heatherstephens9295 Entry to the building itself is free. If you want to climb the tower you have to pay, as well as if you want to visit the cathedral treasury. And there are also guided tours that cost something. Yes, there is also a cathedral Shop where the profits from sales benefit the cathedral. But a large part of the costs will proberly be covered by tax money and donations. If you are a member of a Church in Germany, you also have to pay extra church tax.

I remember visiting Cologne as a teenager when in school and we were all shocked as good Irish catholic girls to see brothels near the cathedral. Our teachers mad us look at our shoes walking through that town 😂🇮🇪☘️🇮🇪😅🙈
Porte de Clichy, not the best area to live in Paris but to stay there for a few days it's very good and not very expensive, enjoy your stay!
Yeah, I felt quite unsafe when I made a misjudgment and was stranded there after the Metro had closed for the night. It was a bit touch and go as I was being followed... walked in the middle of every road until I got to back to where I was staying. Took an hour...

During the Olympics, Paris is a safe city. It's full of french cops and foreigner cops (Slovakia, GB, Spain, South Korea, Qatar). Local people do not recognize their city. It's a happy period. But as soon as the Olympics will end, all the crap will be back.

The Eurostar train is the same as the ones from London to Paris fast and comfortable.Your Airbub looks rather nice for 100 Euros but like me GIV those stairs I could not do that every day.Enjoy Paris you and Tommy.

I went to the Cathedral in 1979 when I was a small kid. My mother got her Seiko watch repaired. For the first I had a hot dog and a slush and bought a cassette of BoneyM. My late father was posted in Moscow then and my late brother ( who was born in Moscow and died in Melbourne very young) was left with his Ukranian Nanny.
Make sure to stop at a local cafe the food is really good.

The reason for the British flag at the Gare du Nord train station is it's the area where travellers to the UK go through UK immigration & customs before they board the train to London. It's because the UK isn't in the EU anymore.
The same as going airside at the LAX before you flew to Germany 👍
There has always been control there, Britain has never been part of the Schengen zone, and the EU has nothing to do with this case.

The reason people are only allowed to smoke in a square on German train platforms is because cigarettes are round. This prevents the smoke from escaping the square.

Window. I was there in the 1960's. Oma got each day either a bottle beer/wine in the hospital.
