Just found your channel yesterday and have been binging all your Paris videos even though I’m not particularly inclined to visit soon. You two are so thoughtful and give great traveling advice that I hope I can take advantage of next time I’m in Europe. Looking forward to seeing more of your content!
Guys, I am so so glad you posted this video yesterday. I am on a 4 day vacation in Paris and have been following just your videos since 1 month back to prepare myself. I can’t thank you enough already for giving such important and precise information about travelling and having the best experience in Paris. But your yesterday’s video gave me a wonderful option for Hot Chocolate. I was planning to go to Angelina for Hot Chocolate today and even went there, but saw the price and queue and quickly turned on my heels from there!! I went onto Carette and what an amazing Hot Chocolate I had here!! It’s my birthday today as well and I am here alone away from my family this time but roaming around on your suggestions and having a good time! Merci Beacoup for this! I really can’t thank you enough!
I’m a flight attendant and in Paris nearly every week - Jacobine was a favorite 10 or more years ago but it’s popularity has made it hard to get a table. My crew recently tried Brasserie Dubillot, and really enjoyed it. Milagro also hit the mark. Relais Entrecôte will however be a “crew” favorite forever!
I've been to Procope on my last 2 Paris trips and loved the food both times. I stick to their classic French sub-menu and seafood. The oysters there are great too!
Le Jacobine is also 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 for me. It was my first sit down meal in Paris last year and it left great memories for me. I was a solo diner, but i felt well-taken cared of and attended to 💜
Mais quelle surprise !!! OMG !!!
When you come from the US or Canada to France for the 1st time, and you don't know the differences between the French "just OK" food and the good one, you may find the fist one fantastic. But, a lot in Paris are tourist trap like all the big touristic place on heart. So thanks to this kind of channel.
Try the Wepler in Montmarte, bang opposite the Place Clichy metro .You'll love the oysters, art deco ambience and fine traditional French food at reasonable cost too. Over 130 years old,the likes of Picasso,Modigliani,Henry Miller and many other famous personalities have eined and dined there. One of my favourite haunts.
Two trips to France in 2024 and my wife and I can't wait to return. I am learning as much French as I can between now and then! This channel has been very helpful.
Nice to know that Chartier has not changed much if at all and is still like I remember (an experience, food basic and hearty, and the essence of Old Paris still lingering while you watch the waiters writing up the tab on the paper tablecloth. Sharing a table with strangers was another fun thing back then. A young student told us how to put our valuables in the top of our socks.
My experience is that food is very personal and everyone will have a different experience. There are so many wonderful places to dine it's hard to go wrong . Thanks for all you do. Your tireless efforts greatly improved my wife wife and I 30th anniversary!
We walked past La Jacobine a few weeks ago and saw it was packed. It looked like a fun place. There are 2 places we almost always eat at in Paris. 1) My emotional favorite - Aux Trois Malletz on Rue Gallande in the Latin Quarter. Honestly, the food is probably middling but the atmosphere, with its live Chanson music, is fantastic. Sometimes, I just hang out there with a beer and listen to the music. 2) Fish la Boissonnerie in San Germaine around the corner from Rue Buci. They specialize in seafood, and it has always been excellent. Nice service. BTW: the name is a pun on "poissonnerie" (fishmonger) substituting boisson (drink) since it is also a drinking establishment.
I ate dinner tonight at La Jacobine. It was as good as you say. My filet mignon of pork with mustard sauce was amazing. The appetizer of pork pate was great. Instead of a dessert, I had the cheese plate. That was because they were out of cream puffs. The waiters were friendly. It is difficult to make a reservation. I stopped by the restaurant last night at 7:00 p.m. to make the reservation for tonight. This is the second recommendation from your guide that I used. Both were delicious.
Thanks for the tips, Les Frenchies! I'm traveling to Paris this afternoon and will arrive with a fork in one hand, a knife in the other, and a napkin tucked into my collar - ready for culinary action.😉
I absolutely loved Le Escargot, which you recommended. We love you guys and watching your channel made our trip to Paris spectacular! Thank you for the videos. Can’t wait to be back in 3 years for our 10 year anniversary.
Whole heartedly agree with you on La Jacobine!! You had mentioned them on another episode, so we had made a point to try them. And boy, were you two right!! The food was truly great! The staff were awesome! The wait just under 45 minutes, but worth it!! Awesome recommendation! Thank You @LesFrenchiesTravel
I was intrigued to hear that La Jacobine stays open between lunch and dinner. I’ll be staying at a nearby hotel and sometimes like to do a late lunch or early dinner. Often a challenge in France. Thanks for another informative video. Maybe I’ll bump into you on my upcoming visit. Idea for a future video: extended-stay lodgings for people looking to spend a month or two in Paris.
My late husbands 🇬🇧 favorite “easy” meal was always at Bouillion Chartier at the Grand Boulevard. When we did a “Celebration of Life Paris Tour” in memory of him this was one place where we absolutely had to eat. Thank you for your video. When I 🇺🇸 return to Paris I will be brining your videos with me. 👍🏻❤️🇫🇷
Thanks for taking the time to put these videos together. My wife and I enjoy watching your videos and appreciate all the information. Plus it’s fun to see the interactions between you too. ❤🎉 Your videos definitely made our Paris trip easier to navigate. Merci!
Thank you, Les Frenchies, for all your tips. In Paris right now and almost every dinner restaurant, they asked how much we want to tip when we pay with a CC. When I say isn't service included? They look confused since I don't speak French, but when I ask with Google translator, they say yes and charge me the bill price. When they don't ask and it's good service I give a few extra euros. Thank you guys again for all the info
Sometimes I wondered if Antoine was being overly effusive in his food reactions. Now I know he has NO poker face whatsoever. I died when he tried that "madeline muffin" thing!
To be a foodie in Paris with the love of your life!! You guys are absolute goals. Love when you guys act so shocked when you steal pieces of each other’s meals 😂
We had a Cafe Gourmand at Le Procope - beautiful interior, average cafe gourmand. Our favorite restaurant in Paris is Bistrot Paul Bert in the 11th. Amazing steak au poivre, perfect frites, free gougeres, wonderful desserts. Lovely little non-touristy area :)
The thing I dislike about restaurants in Paris is how they cram you in so close to other diners. You might as well be sat at the same table, every word can be heard. The chairs are usually tiny and uncomfortable too. Had some delicious meals though!
@@aairsick My comment was about the reality of Parisian dining. People watch this channel to be informed about what it is like to visit the city. Get over yourself and your insecurities about criticism.
@@Matthew4TheWinRestaurants with diners seated close is a fact of reality in NYC as well. Your negative observation of this being the case in Paris, is oddly absurd.
I reckon I have watched every episode you have made! But, this was strangely enough the most natural and fun. More of these please, even if we can't get back to Paris, we can continue to live vicariously through these. Thanks heaps
Another great and valuable video - leaving for Paris this evening! I have a reservation at Pink Mama and added Jacobine to our must eat list! Thank you for for the quality content.
On our most recent trip, we had our last dinner at Chez Gladines on Boulevard Saint-Germain. It specializes in Basque cuisine, and both meals my husband and I had were excellent.
I lived near to 2 branches of Breizh and have therefore eaten at both a few times. I concur with the 5-star review. It's consistently excellent quality food and welcoming (and swift) service. Highly recommend.
Really enjoyed this video. I have a gem of a restaurant to recommend: le 27 Madame. (So named because it's located at 27 Rue Madame.) We discovered this place because it was close to our hotel in Paris, Hotel la Villa Madame, by the Luxembourg Gardens. The chicken dishes are pretty fab. This is a charming, out-of-the-way, family-run restaurant.
Personally I can highly reccomend Restaurant Le Fregate, 1 Rue du Bac. Excellent kind service and very good and delicious food at reasonable prices ! For lovers of frog legs, this is the place to go since they are serving the biggest and most delicious froglegs in all of Paris. I tried many other places in Paris where the froglegs are way too small and therefore it is difficult to get anything out of them. They have a terrace facing La Seine opposite Pavillon de Flore/ Quai Tuileries.
The concierge recommended La Petite Périgourdine at 39 Rue des Écoles. It was wonderful. Since they were full, they asked if I would sit outside. They were super busy but the waiters were very friendly. They gave me good recommendations and the meal was amazing. You should check them out.
Thank you so much for your honest reviews, especially l'as du fallafel. I know Paris like the back of my hand and I used to live there and I never liked that place or understood why it was famous. Will be there with my wife and the kids in November. I am definitely a subscriber to your channel because of your honestly.
A couple I don't think I've seen you guys cover - Les Bistro des Augustins : the Paysan Gratin is *chefskiss* (really...any of the gratin). Bistro Victoires: The Entracote with smoked thyme and frites is delicious and the Profiteroles were also excellent. Both are very reasonable and hidden gems!
Another great video! I am so excited to see your #1 ranked restaurant. There’s a reason why I have dined there 4 times - so far! Fingers circling in the air! 🤤
An awesome guide video as usual❤ It feels like edited in a bit different manner than the previous vidéos. But still good to enjoy . Now I want some hot chocolate ❤
then they should maybe not serve those desserts they don't, yet, master. Or just recruit a chief pastry cook, it may be worth the price if it increases their rep
My goodness, you guys are truly helpful, I can’t wait for my first Paris trip this January, I think it would be awesome thanks to you guys!!! Been watching your videos a lot, and wondering when you’d do the same (rating and reviewing) with these famous restaurants.. 🙏🏻 Merci
Great video as always. Just wanted to point out a couple of mistakes. @12:23 the end of the review of Cedric Grolet the display shows Les 2 Magot again rather than Cedric Grolet. @21:22 The display for Breizh Cafe shows Breath Cafe.
Great stuff guys, I love your work. Personally I was surprised our favourite wasn't on your list (good or bad). We always go to Au Pied de Cochon Brasserie, food is authentic, prices are reasonable, decor charming, and it opened the year I was born (1947). Now for a little secret, just at the end of the street of the apartment we last stayed in, one guy cooking and serving brilliant food on his own: "Le 46" at 46 Rue Falguière.
Great video ! If King Falafel is better than L' As du Falafel I will never the second one ! Now I will try to eat at Pink Mamma and La Jacobine the next time I visit Paris . And I like what you said about Chartier .
I agree with all of your reviews of the places I have tried so far. I have never been to Carette, Pink Mama or La Jacobine, so 3 good reasons to go back! I always have a great experience at Georges at the top of the Pompidou Center, Miznon is a great alternative to La Falafel and Frenchie with several locations was also very good!
Any time you cover food in Paris...I salivate. This was no exception...brutally honest, good variety of restaurants/locations, nice/quick summaries. When I saw Pink Mama...I was ready to hop a plane. Top four were truly top four. Merci!
Pink Mama is a total tourist trap. Perhaps these two liked it because they don’t know anything about Italian food, but Italians in Paris literally make jokes about it
Thanks for recommending Le Jacobine. We had the best French meal there when we visited Paris. Good service, friendly staff and reasonably priced as well. We had to wait long to be seated though, even with a reservation.
You should try Bouillon Pigalle, it's my favorite restaurant of that "Bouillon" type. The decoration may be modern and not traditional but the food is better and sometimes cheaper than Chartier.
You don’t go there for good food. You go there because you’re in the area at night, it serves food late, you probably drank too much, and you don’t want to spend a lot of money
I really like your videos doing food test. You are so funny, and the hand and finger movements of Antoine when he really likes something. I am happy to see a couple like you making fun of each other. You seem to have a wonderful life together 👍🏻
Les Frenchies, I am a huge fan of your videos and posts. I am also a huge fan of Rick Steves (there’s a connection to this). I’ve done 2 of his tours and used his guides to travel solo in 16 European countries. So, I value great content; his and yours. One thing I love is that Rick Steves has a Facebook account where he places his posts that is totally separate from the Rick Steves travel group posts. It allows one to follow him without having to wade through all the questions and general comment posts. His account does allow comments, but they are related to the topic he introduced, and does have a monitor who occasionally responds. Maybe, you’ll consider this format? I appreciate your work. Thank you.
Yes, I follow it, but in it your posts are mixed in with everyone’s posts, not a separate account for your posts only. Thank you for being open to my input. Thanks.
The Café Léon chain is pretty reliable for moules-frites. You can get a good moules marinières with a small cornichet of frites for 14,90e or a lunch formule for 14,90e (400 grammes of moules and a dessert)
My wife and I spent 10 days in Paris in June and we visited Le Procope and my experience was quite the opposite. I had the tenderloin and foie Gras and my wife had the sea bream and I thought they were both fantastic. The service and ambience was very good. It is a bit touristy but seeing Napoleon’s was pretty cool!
Aww, sad to see the underwhelming review of L'as du Fallafel . It's touristy for sure, but my partner and I shared a fallafel platter there on our last trip to Paris and we had a wonderful experience. The food was hot and tasty, and our funny, patient server was the cherry on top... Perhaps we caught them on a "good day", lol. I'd still recommend them, and look forward to trying out your suggested alternative on my next visit to Paris
I actually did the jazz hands at the same time Antoine did!! 🤣🤣 There was a restaurant on Avenue du Maine called Chez Rafaello when we went to Paris for our honeymoon in 2007. Friendly staff, excellent food and the owner was a Quebecer from Laval, across the rivière des Prairies from Montreal. The waitress recognized our Québecois accent and introduced us to the owner, who offered us a digestif on the house that evening, and every time we went to have dinner there after that. I was heartbroken when I saw they had closed before going for our trip last summer.
Years ago, my dad and I had dinner at Lasserre when it had 3 Michelin stars. The service, the food, the wine... incroyable! Unfortunately, it appears that they are down to 1 star since then, but the reviews are great (and one Michelin star is nothing to discount). I would imagine it is still quite a lovely experience to dine there. My husband and I will be visiting Paris for a couple of days next fall, on our way to the Loire Valley. I so enjoy your channel and look forward to checking out a couple of your suggestions! Merci beaucoup!
It’s not famous but back in May me, my sister and our parents had a wonderful meal at Le Temps de Cerises over in Marais. It was everything I considered a Parisian bistro to be, and the food was divine (and that is coming from someone who has eaten at Le Gavroche and Bibendum in London).
I love watching food reviews but they are tricky. Whether you appreciate the experience or not depends on many different factors. Your criteria of course but for me, the service, the ambiance and your mood of the moment are also important.
Yes! And no! LOL... These folks also aren't experts. Their viewpoints are certainly valid and to be appreciated (so thank you!), but how can you review a falafel restaurant when you've never even eaten it and don't know what it is? Hint, hushpuppies (deep fried dough balls) made with chickpea flour, made many dozens of ways, just like tabouleh you see in restaurants.... But the average of reviews don't support the falafel place you've recommended over this. By A LOT. How can you go to Angelina and not know they invented the Mont Blanc - and not order it? And snark about a 120 y.o. historic architecture and design for not having been updated? That's largely why it's famous - it was a fancy tearoom for ladies. How can you review a full restaurant only having ordered dessert? That's ridiculous. If readers look at the average reviews / scores of most of these places, the average score differs. Which also brings the points that a) take all reviews with a grain of salt! Do the best you can to get them from someone who has same taste / values you do. b) there are a lot of mediocre restaurants, or mediocre choices in good restaurants, even in Paris! c) any day can bring a bad experience with any given place or its staff, and d) service ratings should be separated from the food ratings, but they aren't :(. Also, market researchers know that people are many times more likely to make the effort to make a bad review than a good one. And when you read them you see that many if not most of bad reviews have to do with service, not food, and most, not all, are from foreign tourists. e) what les Frenchies may have forgotten, is that the decor and or history of a place, in a few cases, is worth the price of admission, if you appreciate history, design, and or achitecture - some of these places are literally institutions, though the food quality may not be great. Just do your research (don't rely on one or two reviews) and act accordingly - go to the historic places knowing and appreciating the history, and buy something inexpensive so you don't feel ripped off. If you're only into food and not total experience, that's fine too, but these and most reviews aren't of those (fine dining) restaurants anyway.
Also, in reply to comments about cattle prods and too close tables... If you go in warm months / summer, or dead center of meal times, or on weekends, this is the experience you should expect, just like with any other desirable restaurants anywhere. That's why every guide recommends visiting in the shoulder seasons or winter. And even then you have to be strategic on timing if you want to avoid crowds.
Hi les frenchies I had the pleasure of visiting Paris last June and it surpassed my expectations and I’m planning to visit next summer. Your videos were a great help. I tried Las de falafel and it was mediocre for a guy from the middle east with high frame of reference for falafel. I’d love if you make a video about halal food in Paris like best places to eat or ranking. Much Love
Thank you for this one! We shall be guided by your impressions and recommendations when we visit Paris in January! It would be nice to know how much you paid…
We can recommend Le Petit Bouillon Pharamond close to Les Halles (classic bouillon dishes; great value; friendly servers) and A-Table in the 20th for wonderful Iranian food (close to Pere Lachaise; try the lunch buffet).

How do you rate a restaurant with just eating dessert or, just a cup of hot chocolate???? Seriously?? Not a true review as far as I'm concerned.

What you had at Le Procope is Paana Cotta, an Italian classic recognisable by everyone in Europe.

It was Panna Cotta with raspberry coulis that you had at the Deux Magots - a typical Italian desert.

Another great and valuable video - leaving for Paris this evening! I have a reservation at Pink Mama and added Jacobine to our must eat list! Thank you for for the quality content.
You're welcome!!
Totally agree
I will not go to Paris without a trip to Breizh
Recently found your channel and loving the tips! Thank you!
Thanks for the tips!
Love your videos, guys!
The concierge recommended La Petite Périgourdine at 39 Rue des Écoles. It was wonderful. Since they were full, they asked if I would sit outside. They were super busy but the waiters were very friendly. They gave me good recommendations and the meal was amazing. You should check them out.
You guys are too cute with each other and are cracking me up. ❤️😂
Thank you so much for sharing these places with us. We are going there soon, very useful !!! Best wishes to you!
You are doing a great public service here. And wow… I’m so hungry now 😂😂
😋
I just love you guys!! LOL This was so enjoyable to watch. I am looking forward to being back in Paris next year
Another great video! I am so excited to see your #1 ranked restaurant. There’s a reason why I have dined there 4 times - so far! Fingers circling in the air! 🤤
So good!
An awesome guide video as usual❤
It feels like edited in a bit different manner than the previous vidéos. But still good to enjoy . Now I want some hot chocolate ❤
With all due respect, you don't go to Le Procope for dessert, you go for Coq Au Vin.
okay next time then
then they should maybe not serve those desserts they don't, yet, master. Or just recruit a chief pastry cook, it may be worth the price if it increases their rep
@@JohnBob-j9hthere are other desserts on their menu which are excellent.
Clearly, this was ridiculous
Yes, please do steak & frites around Paris video! ❤❤
This might just be your most interesting clip so far. Thank you so much for spending all that time standing in line so that we don't have to.
My goodness, you guys are truly helpful, I can’t wait for my first Paris trip this January, I think it would be awesome thanks to you guys!!! Been watching your videos a lot, and wondering when you’d do the same (rating and reviewing) with these famous restaurants.. 🙏🏻 Merci
The dish topped with raspberry coulis looks like panna cotta. Yum!
Love watching you all this this video was wonderful! 💜
Great video as always. Just wanted to point out a couple of mistakes. @12:23 the end of the review of Cedric Grolet the display shows Les 2 Magot again rather than Cedric Grolet. @21:22 The display for Breizh Cafe shows Breath Cafe.
Thanks...we saw it too 😔
Thanks so much for the tour. I always have to make sure I am well fed before I view, even then, I get hungry watching!
Great suggestion!
Great video ! If King Falafel is better than L' As du Falafel I will never the second one ! Now I will try to eat at Pink Mamma and La Jacobine the next time I visit Paris . And I like what you said about Chartier .
No doubt, thank you!!
Good points, thank you!!
Love your audio. Are you using iPhones to record your video? Looks great also.
You two are a delight! Love your channel.
You are so kind
My husband and I went to Bouillon Chartier, we were shocked and disappointed at how flavorless the food was. ❤ Wouldn’t go back.
Same. You get what you pay for and we sure did 😊 Next time we won't go there 👍🏻👍🏻
Not only the food was bad, they cheated on bills !! It happened to us and please read the numerous comments about that.
I had the same experience. The cheap prices were not worth it, as we ended up stopping elsewhere for "something good" after leaving anyway
Great idea for a video! Very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Love Antoine's expressions on what he truly enjoys
Nice vlog, thank you for sharing, sending love from Morocco
I really like your videos doing food test. You are so funny, and the hand and finger movements of Antoine when he really likes something. I am happy to see a couple like you making fun of each other. You seem to have a wonderful life together 👍🏻
Never heard of "Pink Mamma" but will have to try it on my next trip to Paris!
Thank you.
we're trying to on our Facebook Group, are you familiar with it?
facebook.com/groups/lesfrenchiestravel
Le Procope also has the best Coq au Vin! 🐔
we've heard so many complaints about Le Procope we had to check it out ourselves
Yeah, maybe it was just a bad day 😕
Wow Congratulations on 250k subs ❤
I actually did the jazz hands at the same time Antoine did!! 🤣🤣
There was a restaurant on Avenue du Maine called Chez Rafaello when we went to Paris for our honeymoon in 2007.
You are so awesome and upfront. I take your recommendations as gospel. You also obviously have a lot of fun doing this.
Merci pour votre partage d'expérience !
Much Love
As du Falafel doesn't deserve the notoriety, it's way over-hyped. We found mid-eastern food jewels all over Paris. One on Rue Mouffetard is awesome.
Everything looks delicious!
Thank you my friend 😁
Thank you for this one! We shall be guided by your impressions and recommendations when we visit Paris in January!
It would be nice to know how much you paid…
Glad it was helpful!
We can recommend Le Petit Bouillon Pharamond close to Les Halles (classic bouillon dishes; great value; friendly servers) and A-Table in the 20th for wonderful Iranian food (close to Pere Lachaise; try the lunch buffet).
A-table was an excellent recommendation. Thanks!
@@mrn13 Glad you enjoyed it!
Antoine may have been unfamiliar with the hummus sauce but he knows tiramisu!!! Love your videos!
Yes! Thank you!
