    I've been looking for this one about the tight corners I thought you had a different tool for it! Didn't realize we can just add excessive tape to help. I've been practicing on my brothers 2013 Mazda 3. It has a tight inside corner against the body I wasn't sure how to get that corner so this was very helpful!

      @@theheadlightrestorationproHey, it went really well just did it tonight while changing the ballasts. Had them out of the car and it was fast and easy with everything I got from your video. My headlights seem to have a bit of swirls in them tho I haven’t applied the clear coat yet as I was about to drive an hour and it started to rain. Any tips? Should I got back over with the 2000 grit and use the polish again? Thanks but they look brand new compared to before! Thanks for everything and plan on charging friends and family to make my money back!

    Good Day HRP, firstly great job as usual. I love your methodologies which keep generating consistent results each time it is truly remarkable. I am a mobile detailer here in Jamaica and I also use the Meguiar's G17804 to coat headlights, but when use as directed (Apply 1 medium wet coat letting the first coat dry 3-5 minutes, then follow with a second medium wet coat) the light is hazy in appearance, but when applied as you did in this video using a generous amount, it yield a better result. Therefore, is it safe to assume that when applying the headlight coating, you should use generous amounts? Looking forward to your response, - Thanks in. advance

      Yes I discovered this a long time ago although the instructions say double coat I have done some research and I have done some testing the double coat method is not what you want to do because the crust forms so fast that there's an issue with double crust double layers... See this video. 👇🏽
      ua-cam.com/video/NgxNImOAoCY/v-deo.html
      So I developed a single coat method with this product.. I use about the same amount as two coats, a thick coat and apply the painter's method where I start with a small amount for adherence and just layer thin coats over it all at once which is why you see my pattern moving back and forth back and forth back and forth. The clarity is enhanced doing this..
      Check out the video really explain some things... That's what any product as well..
      Thanks for watching.

      @@theheadlightrestorationpro sorry if this sounds like an idiot question...
      But why do you specifically use a drill and that model you've linked to, instead of say the polisher for all steps... Does the drill provide more speed options and granular control using it to sand with?
      Or is it simply form factor and backing plate option based?

    • @theheadlightrestorationpro
      @theheadlightrestorationpro  Рік тому +1

      @@krazyfiend okay the difference between the polisher and the drill is the drill is going to operate and much lower speeds and comparison to the polisher. Also the drill is optimal for sanding because of the torque the drills have a lot more torque than the polisher. Polishers are all about speed not torque the max speed of the drill is about 1500 or so..
      The max speed of the polisher is about 7,800..
      That's some of the key bases.

      @@theheadlightrestorationpro thank you. I'll make sure to use your referral links to add stuff to my Amazon black Friday, cyber Monday basket.🧺 😂
      Just caught the end results and full car sweep. You made that better than showroom.. looks like you did a paint correction (OEM orange 🍊 peel looks gone!) and not just a decon, clay, polish, coat (not saying that isn't a lot too 😂) .
      In a future video, unless you have one already, I'm intrigued how you approach headlights with "crazing". Does it depend how far and pervasive the micro cracks and varies? Do the cracks only go down so far?
      Anyway, killer results...keep on movin' and prospering!

    • @theheadlightrestorationpro
      @theheadlightrestorationpro  Рік тому +1

      Awesome I appreciate it they give good kickbacks and these links a lot of the times..
      With the crazing, I called the Spider Cracking most of the times it's not all the way through and a majority of it or better yet a lot of it will be masked by the time you hit your finishing product.. but you can only deal with what you're given. You can make a headlight better that has the spider cracking, also stop it from furthering it comes from heat. Generally without the UV coding present the headlight overheat... This is one of the main problems when people use non headlight certified products, overheating spider cracking.. or just if they wait too long with their headlights damaged.. getting all the time...
      There's two different kinds sometimes the clear coat cracks this way and sometime the actual light cracks his way but most the time it's not through and through...

    Living in CA where cars really get beat by the sun, it seems like the cars from the Japanese manufacturers have headlights that haze up very quickly in comparison to the European and American manufacturers. It also seems like the clear coat on the paint fails a lot faster. In terms of preventative maintenance, do you think that any of the ceramic coatings slow down the aging process on these headlights?

    • @theheadlightrestorationpro
      @theheadlightrestorationpro  Рік тому

      Not really you would think so though.. I don't really recommend ceramic coatings on headlights because for One ceramic coating isn't dissipating form of protection just like Wax is but wax is more pliable workable and has less effects to the surface of a vehicle and definitely to the headlight much easier to work with on headlights and more beneficial..,(far as hydrating in a softer change to it)
      Also ceramics are brittle and hard and extremely thin... I have a video where I did clear coat testing and ceramics do provide enough transparency for headlight standard up there with the best but it lacks in a lot of other things because of its thinness... Which adds to itself breaking down faster, surface impact issues such as: cracking and pitting and crowning etc... And it's also not recommended to do more than one coat which I have another video up about double coating is severely diminishes your light output due to layering... The best thing anybody can do is provide aftercare... But a lot of people don't want to deal with that...
      Also have a video about aftercare..
      ua-cam.com/video/kIur4XxYjDk/v-deo.html

    • @theheadlightrestorationpro
      @theheadlightrestorationpro  Рік тому

      Also you are right the European headlights last a little bit longer because they use a much harder coating closer to a 2K clear and their actual headlight structure is much much harder... the formula...
      But like I tell everybody I feel their headlight method is flawed.. just because something lasts longer it doesn't mean it's better for whatever it is.. metaphorically you got to think that some people outlive their body and are decrepit and handicapped and have Alzheimer's and dementia and things like that that's a form of something lasting way past its expiration date.... Metaphorically the same thing happens with headlights so if you could rejuvenate the headlight before all these things happen what you get is a perpetual and continuous healthy headlight for the life of the vehicle..
      The European vehicles are notorious from permanent damage from its natural coating and it's natural hardness.. being too hard there's lots of room for damage the Japanese vehicles make their softer but they last literally forever even though they go bad faster... Essentially they're better product.... A Japanese headlight will last 25 years if you take care of it even with regular headlight restoration and taking care of a European car I say you got like 10 before you start really having damage that you can't come back from and they'll still work but it won't look as good..

    The Meguires UV overspray going on the hood - the cars paint doesn’t hurt the paint? You said it cures so fast ….so that overspray cured onto the hood section that was not masked off with painters tape? Or can it be taken off easily from paint/clear coat?

    • @theheadlightrestorationpro
      @theheadlightrestorationpro  Рік тому +1

      No overspray.... Overspray is not a problem with this product if you properly tape off... Zero gets on paint... Observe the tapping method...the tip is very directional as it's made for headlights....

    I spent hours refinishing the headlights on my 2015 Honda Accord and they looked as good as new! Thanks for that. I did use the McGuires headlight spray and it was awesome. A week later I was applying RAIN X to my windshield and sprayed a little on the headlight lexnses and all of a sudden they looked horrible almost as bad as when I started fixing them. You should instruct everyone DO NOT USE RAIN X ON YOUR HEADLIGHTS TREATED WITH MCGUIRES HEADLIGHT SPRAY, i'M PISSED AND I HAVE MORE WORK TO DO!!!!!! yOUR VIEOS ARE GOOD BUT WAY TOO LONG .

      Yeah I'm pretty sure I never said spray Rain-X on your headlights especially a week later..... (If they're perfect like you said why would you keep messing with them). Essentially if you're mad probably mad at yourself for taking the initiative to do something that's never really been done before.... I tell people to do aftercare was simple wax... And that is a minimum 30 days later but recommended 60 days and every other month not a week after you did them...
      Pretty sure the Rain-X does not say for headlight use... Anytime you do any kind of clear code you're not supposed to apply anything for like 60 days ...Got to be careful what you put on your headlights put rain x on any headlight restored or not(brand new headlights) it's going to do some adverse effect... If you feel they're too long feel free not to watch..... Thanks for watching anyways..... 😁

      His videos are too long to you buddy, but you do know that you don't have to watch them! There's also this thing called "FAST FORWARDING" that you may want to look into.... Just a thought 😂

      @chrissanchez6610 exactly people who come at like this are either one or two things or both.. jealous haters who in turn hate themselves in their own life that's what most haters are..
      Or just have attention span issues and probably did not excel in school or at any kind of educational setting...
      Either way if it's not your liking why waste your time commenting I see stuff all day I can't stand.. and I just keep moving or don't watch it would be beneath me to comment on it..lol 😅😆😅
      Appreciate you..💯

    Hey starting my own headlight restoration business how do u charge because im charging 50 for any lights is that to cheap is that to much

      You have the gauge your area it depends on your city your state etc etc.. for instance I'm in California, an average size house sells for about $500,000 . Give or take..
      In some parts of the country that same house if not bigger will sell for $150,000..
      Economic structure is different.
      Also you're just starting off.. do you have any reviews do you have pictures of your work do you have videos of your work more than likely you don't have much versus somebody who might be doing work and have experience to prove in your area you kind of have to do the research and figure out what's best..
      Thanks for watching I really appreciate it keep watching my videos and watch more than one for sure and you definitely will get your skills to a level where people will want you to do their headlights... Anybody can do headlights but can they do them properly and safely...(that's for the present and the future of the headlight)..

    any problems with orange peel?

    • @theheadlightrestorationpro
      @theheadlightrestorationpro  Рік тому

      Good question.. ZERO PROBLEM as you see this is part of the reason why I film so closely on these videos I come up on the headlight about one inch away.. this product is designed for ultra clarity, and if you run through the steps correctly the orange peel nothing.. ZERO
      But mainly the reason why there is no orange peel is because this is a headlight certified product that is designed for headlights by scientists...
      Thanks for watching...
