I have a Kukri.. I bought it from NEPAL. I'm from India ❤️
You should do the ko-katana, it's my favorite weapon mostly because it's a shorter blade version of a regular katana, but the handle was the same length making it still deadly, but it was used because when samurai's have to fight in tight spaces instead of a open field, it was easier to handle their blades instead of making it more of a challenge to defeat their opponents.
It’s called Khukuri. And the soldiers are called Gorkhali.
The most authentic Khukuri is made in Bhojpur District of Nepal. However there are many Local makers in Nepal who work amazing.
Would love to get one. Hopefully will visit Nepal soon.
You'll get to see the original if you come in my house in gorkha
Bhojpur made ones are the slim bladed sirupate khukuris.
Khukuris are of different types made on different regions of Nepal
Khukuri made in Bhojpur are a lot top heavy.
Guys try GGK Great Ghurka Kukri from Purna Darnal. HES THE BEST
Namaste from khhi nepal.. we are a local khukuri maker from nepal. its very nice and satisfying to see our native knife in this world arena. Khukuri is indeed more than just a knife... congrats to the participants and gratitude to the forged in fire team for this amazing khukuri episode.
I'd love to purchase one. One day I'll get to visit over to y'all!

Best small (less than 20 inches) blade there is!
Yoo I'm from Nepal feeling proud 😁😁❤️❤️
Aee😏
Kukris are usually a heavier blade because they are not just used as swords, but also as a kind of ax. That means in this case, the heavier blade won.
It's khukuri not kukris and it's not just used as axe and blades. There are small ones too used like daggers.
dude khukuri seems heavy but it ain't heavy
My knowledge of the traditional khukri is very limited, but it is still one of the most beautiful and impressive blade designs throughout history in my opinion.
Even us marine are using their Own model of khukuri
Khukuri is our pride.

Seeing a khukuri being made in the forge in fire is a great thing as a Nepali🇳🇵❤️ Thankyou team🙏❤️

The fact they actually referenced big trouble in little China, the very movie that IS the reason this is my favorite blade blows my mind..
I was so confused with that movie. Why were the Chinese characters carrying it? Anyway, I guess it's cool. I am from Nepal 🇳🇵.
@@walangchahangyelingden8252 There's nothing wrong in carrying the weapon. In the past, Nepalese used to exports weapons, goods etc to the chinese.
@@tangsangrai7914 I get that but they're bigger countries. Them using our weapons does not make much sense. It's Hollywood butchering cultures.
@@walangchahangyelingden8252 so, bigger countries cannot use our weapons? They probably saw this and was like wow this looks cool so they added in their films.
@@tangsangrai7914 No, cause the movie is supposed to show Chinese characters. Not Nepali characters. Yeah, maybe they got across the weapon because they thought it was cool but there were like 3 Chinese characters holding Khukuris. It's Hollywood not carrying about cultures & just mixing them. Now, I have nothing against it being featured in a movie but they badly mixed cultures there. All of this doesn't matter cause it's a goofy 80s movie.
"Better to die than be a coward" is the motto of the world-famous Nepalese Gurkha soldiers who are an integral part of the British Army.
They still carry into battle their traditional weapon - an 18-inch long curved knife known as the kukri.
In times past, it was said that once a kukri was drawn in battle, it had to "taste blood" - if not, its owner had to cut himself before returning it to its sheath. More than 200,000 fought in the two world wars, and in the past 50 years they have served in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Borneo, Cyprus, the Falklands, Kosovo and now in Iraq and Afghanistan.
They serve in a variety of roles, mainly in the infantry but with significant numbers of engineers, logisticians and signals specialists.
The name "Gurkha" comes from the hill town of Gorkha from which the Nepalese kingdom had expanded.
The ranks have always been dominated by four ethnic groups, the Gurungs and Magars from central Nepal, the Rais and Limbus from the east, who live in villages of impoverished hill farmers.

Back in the nineties ,an armory in Nepal, was emptied of all the weapons. Some of them were 400 years old. Every thing from cannons, swords, rifles and kukris were put on the market. I bought two of them, one was the regimental large sword used for beheading an ox during a yearly ceremony, and a traditional soldiers kukri. They are both 18th century, with photo graphics and literary provenance. Glad I invested in them today.the auto matic weapons were demilled.the weapon selection was UNBELIEVABLE
Umm , any you lying , in Nepal nobody beheads ox and especially for ritual. Not possible. Why you lying
I remember when Atlantic Cutlery (with Museum Replicas) brought in a huge supply from Nepal. Said they bought out the armory of a castle.
Khukris and Martini Henry rifles, some were beautiful.
@@shishirkarki5782that was the story the importer told-- that the big cerimonial sword version was for beheading an ox. I had my doubts at the time... 😆

Jason's Kukri was the most accurate (he did say that he had made kuris before, so that is expected), (yes the handle too is supposed to be that short), Josh's blade was modern, too modern it was not an accurate representation, I do appreciate that he gave the knife a Kaudi (notch), but it did not have the thickness to be called kukri. plus it lacked the Khol (the groove that runs on both sides of the spine, Josh's blade was also too thin, Kukris are for chopping! they are supposed to cut a thousand coconuts before being sharpened again. I appreciate the amount of time and effort that went into making these beautiful blades, but being an Indian who has handled Kukris for a reasonable amount of time, I can tell you that these blades are not kukris, they are polished versions of what a kukri is supposed to be, it like polishing a piece of steel until it shines and calling it a katana, its just not the same. plus the one on display on the table did not have the all important notch that the blade is famous for.
Respectfully, it's KHU-KU-RI....not Kukri (like cookery), sir...Idk why Indians always MISPRONOUNCE our words. I thought they have better diction.
Being Big like that is never an burden on your loved ones🤍
Man the comfort my eyes feel seeing Will and not the other dude

5160 spring steel differential heat treat. Want a harder edge to retain the edge but not too hard. Want a softer spine to absorb shock but not too soft. Give it more of a belly to put some mass out front to help move it through that swing, bites deeper in a chop and slices clean and smooth. Only change i would make from the traditional is a coke bottle shaped handle, that shaped palm swell will keep it from sliding or rolling in your hand, gives way more control. Would still keep the handle as a rosewood or buffalo horn or maybe even stacked buffalo leather.
History of the KHUKURI well displayed thanks
