- The Big Palisade wall on the West Alpine Tunnel Road is now repaired! Watch to see the progress and the stone work to match the original build.
I've been going up to Alpine tunnel/Williams Pass since the early 60's. This is great, restoring one of the most remarkable railroad landmarks in Colorado. And, we have access to Williams pass once again! Thank you Markus and CORE and all the 4wheel drive community that worked for this!
Very welcome. Thanks for watching!
In the 1950's my dad took me to both the east and west portal of the Alpine Tunnel. It had not fully collapsed back then and we walked in a few hundred feet on each end. It was kind of creepy though for a 10 year old kid. I don't think I have ever been back, but I've explored many of the trails and 4WD roads in the area over the years. Great video!
Thank you for the efforts to keep the trails open in this area. Huge milestones
Thanks for watching!
That sure looked like a whole lot of work put in over the years. I hope to be able to get up there soon.
Thanks for watching. Yes, hopefully the road will be open to the public again.
We appreciate the efforts from everybody to get this wonderful historic area put back together! Maybe it'll last another 150 years LOL❤
Thanks for watching!
Amazing! Great work over the years many people will be able to enjoy those areas for years in the future now.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for all your efforts, Marcus!
For sure. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for all you do to keep trails open!
For sure! Thanks for watching.
Congratulations on project well done!!
Thank you.
Didn't know it was being rebuilt. Have been there a number of times. Thanks for the info.
For sure. Hopefully the whole area will be open again soon.
YAY! Going up in a few days to explore
The area is still not open to the public. The wall rebuild is done, but the road grade work and drainage are still underway. The closure order is still in place until that work is finished. We should have another update in 3 weeks.
Thank you for the video and all that you and Core do to keep these trails open.
Thanks for watching!
You earned a subscriber with trail advice. When in doubt, get out and walk it. And your work on dry stack stone walls is amazing. Thanks for updates on alpine tunnel. Now if you guys could work on the 285/50 intersection in poncha... .well, thanks for what you do.
Thanks for watching and for supporting the channel.
if i was younger man with a stronger back i'd love to be out there helping.
Thanks for watching.
Your people did an awesome job removing the abandoned camper trailer, glad it is gone. People need to be held accountable for the trash they discard. I am glad that the tunnel project is proceeding well and that they decided to rebuild the road to the W. side. CORE has been essential to maintaining these 4x4 trails around Chaffee County and more with a lot of hands-on trail maintenance and repairs by mostly volunteers. Without them many trails would be closed. But with responsible use of the trails, by everyone who appreciate being able to visit these mountain areas we will continue to be able to use them without closures via government agencies trying to protect public lands. Tread Lightly and leave these areas better than what you found them even if someone else did not respect this Privilege.
Well said. Thanks for watching.
Glad to know my ohv sticker money has been put to good use I've been buying them since 1998
Totally agree. We hope to publicize more projects in the future made possible with OHV dollars.
This is an historic milestone for our future, thank you for the detailed walk about Marcus. As for Onx, I blame the creators that are shilling it to new offroaders, it's inaccurate regurgitated garbage and should be treated as such.
For sure. Thanks for watching!
