- In todays video we head out to the Fox River and do some Fox River Wading for smallmouth bass. This was my first time ever river wading and we got caught a few smallmouth bass. River wading was a lot of fun, yet a little challenging, but I learned a lot and will be back out on the Fox River again wading for some smallmouth. As for my fishing fans, in 2022 if you decide to follow along as I learn how to fish the new fishing styles of Illinois. In Illinois I will be fishing my backyard pond, The Fox River, and several local ponds and lakes. I plan on also learning how to fish while wading a river or creek. I will be fishing from my pontoon boat, and my new kayak that I received for a Christmas present in 2019.
My favorite types of baits to use are frogs, jerk-baits, crank baits, topwater walking baits such as the Vixen and the Realis Pencil 100. When I slow it down I go to the IKA and if I decide to drop shot or Texas rig, I use STNT Bait Company soft plastic worms, swimbaits, or their creature baits.

Thanks for the shout out! Those carp can be a real menace making you think you hooked into a giant smallie. I did pretty good wading last friday night. Be sure to hit the gravel bar across from the outlet and the deeper hole on the opposite shoreline. Might not be wadeable this weekend though with all this rain

That's a fun spot. My PB out of the Fox is in that stretch. I fish it pretty often and have caught catfish, carp, walleye, and smallies. I live in your area if you'd like to get together and fish.
@Ken Filas I believe this video was only my 2nd or 3rd time fishing it. Definitely looks like a fun spot. I caught a ton of dink smallmouth one day just down from there at the drain.
