Amazing tip! I've had this issue for years and I've just bought the ethernet adapter and LAN cable and boom! The difference is like day and night! Streams ultra HD live on BBC iplayer with absolutely no stalling. Very grateful for the advice, and just in time for the Olympics :)
No other apps do this, it's only iPlayer. We already pay the beeb an extortionate fee for the license and you're telling us we need to buy more crap to make their app work. They should fix the issue or give us a refund. Thanks for making the video though.
This seems to have gotten worse and worse of late with iPlayer only. All the other apps work fine. I have ultra fibre and a WiFi 6 router. There is definitely an issue with iPlayer specifically this. Seems poorly optimised in the first place
Do you know what speed you were getting over WIFI when you had the problem? What speed do you have now over the powerline adapter when connected via Ethernet? Just wondered if your issue was directly speed related or, as you say, related to WIFI. PS. The cat was very interested!
The problem was apparent on multi occasions over many months. The connection speeds whilst the problem was apparent, will have varied - but they still vary now, and iPlayer works fine... the cat is never normally that quiet!
My Amazon fire stick had a similar issue with buffering, even with wired ethernet with superfast broadband. Seems it was getting too hot! Using an HDMI extension cable I have moved the fire stick to a place with more air circulation and so far that seems to be working for me. Edit: BBC iPlayer was the worst app for buffering, but sometimes I had problems when watching Amazon Prime content with buffering and really bad audio synching of almost ½ second delay at times!

That's great news.
Ooooh...........more trailing cables...........the wife will be thrilled 😮
I use a cable management sleeve to hide them...

I agree that iPlayer is the worst app for streaming issues.

I will!

I agree that iPlayer is the most troublesome streaming app out there.

That's interesting, and showing for us all to try in the future.
